Troy Baker: "MGSV may be the biggest game I've ever seen."

If I ever post something in Japanese which I don't understand, please BAN me.
WOW!

Adding on to the initial quote, Baker says:

"... Just in terms of everything you can do... Skyrim looks like an afternoon playpen next to it."

Kojima Worried The Phantom Pain Is 'Too Big' to Finish

does he really do big games? MGS games aren't usually longer than 15 hours right?

Although I bet they have huge amounts of incidental dialogue. Probably a hella long script.

this makes me wonder , will Konami slice and dice the game into tons of shameless DLC , or are we getting it all from day one.

He's done big games in terms of content and amount of VO (Persona 4) and he's done big games in terms of production scale (Call of Duty, Last of Us, Bioshock Infinite.)

If there is any DLC expect it for MGO. I think Kojima is trying to make the single player experience as big as he can. He's stated you can go through the story without encountering DD or Quiet.

Fuel had the biggest map in a video game the year it was released with nothing to do.

Not saying that will be the case with this but, just saying.

After a cursory search on Howlongtobeat.com, average main story lengths are:

MGS1: 11 hrs
MGS2: 13 hrs
MGS3: 16 hrs
MGS4: 18.5 hrs

MGSV:GZ: 1.5 hrs

I have a feeling (without watching the video and taking the entire quote out of context) that he's talking less about the game world size, and more about "Holy hell I'm recording a lot of cutscenes"

give it to me

The scale looks off a bit.
Peace Walker as big as MGS3, Ground Zeroes bigger than entire MGS2 (MGS2 was also multi levelled unlike Ground Zeroes).

the level geometry of big shell is small as shit. i wouldn't be surprised of the square footage is smaller than GZ

i've come to the conclusion that i'm going to print all information related to metal gear, blend it and then inject it straight into my veins.

hope there are enough bosses then and not a bunch of 'padding stuff'. Always felt MGS games were at the right length in terms of stealthing, bossing, dumb cutscenes, codecs.

increasing 1 requires increasing the others.

I would assume the longest game he was in was Tales of Vesperia. He was Yuri.

This sounds cool and all, but I just hope the story doesn't get lost in the mix. This is Kojima's first open world title, and I'm seriously hoping he knows to put the story in the front. I want those mindfuck lengthy cutscenes to make a return as well.

"I don't like game therefore we shouldn't use its large size as a comparison to other large games."

Makes sense.

lol

I hope it's huge. I hope the content is there but most of all I hope it's not only good, but that MGO is as good as it used to be because if so, that's all I'll need to play for a really long time.

If I've never played a Metal Gear game at all, will playing Ground Zeroes and then this do absolutely anything for me, or will it be completely incomprehensible? The gameplay seems interesting, and the craziness seems fun, but I don't know if I'm ready to go play every single one of them.

We talkin girth or length what we talkin

He mentioned in just the scope of things that you can do. It's massive.

You should listen to the stream. It's pretty interesting the way he describes it, and overall his passion for what he does and his relationship with games. I actually do think he knows whats going on as a gamer.

Start with MGS1. Seriously.

Cool.

But I hope this does't turn into one of thise "Giant world for the sake of giant world" kind of games

It's pretty amazing how well Kojima seems to have transitioned into an open world design on his first go, dude got mad skills.
