Calm down first, its just video games, and Read the bolded man. I never said you were name calling, it'll be alright. Your arguing against an argument I never made because you refuse to read.

You stated that the X1 had 'factually' better games, yes? Then you proceeded to post a metacritic list to prove your point, which I'm assuming was that the critics had decided that the X1 had better games and the list was a testament to that. Was that not your argument? If you made any other one, you did so poorly. And don't confuse a no-nonsense tone with any great investment in debating with someone over the internet. You're clearly not interested in level-headed discussion, so there is no sense in attempting to banter back and forth and arrive at a reasonable exchange. Now comes the classic, 'you didn't understand, stop being irrational' deflection from the person who is actually being irrational.

This amuses me, please continue.

MS must have backed up a dump truck. EA turning down the ps3 and ps4 looked stupid then and it looks worse now. How long can MS swoop in and keep buying this kind of third party support with the numbers gap growing like it is.

Bear in mind that MS and EA did these deals before we knew anything of either of both consoles, but yeah seems EA went all in for one console.

Just an educated guess:

Xbone should be around 3.3 million: 3 million from 2013 and less than 340K in January 2014 ( 141K from US, and definitely less than 200k from the rest of tier one countries)

Difference 2 million units.

Microsoft has yet to release the Xbox One in Japan, it's strongest region.

It kinda makes me think. MS has factualy better exclusives but can't manage better sales. Despite TitanFall being a media darling I think Second Son will bump PS4 sales higher than TitanFall would do fo X1, even if TF reviews better.

Let's try again, Read the bold, your no-nonsense attitude is causing you to miss great clues about the conversation you jumped in without reading. You could start at the original quote, and work your way up.

I've been questioning if they will even release in Japan. Looking at 360 numbers being at around 1.6 million is it even worth the time?

I don't think so.

MS tried really hard last gen with the 360 in Japan, shitting out JRPG's (some not so great, but still good enough to warrant more sales), 1.6 million is abysmal all things considered.

Flower is the highest rated next-gen exclusive. Factually. The end. So you're still wrong. Everything else in the first few slots is a multiplat. And if you're going to count TF as an exclusive (and quote: "despite Titanfall"), you can damn well do the same for Flower. Otherwise the statement you keep referencing needs to be removed from this debate, and rephrased as *exclusive.

*On no other platform or generation.

So, we're back to you being wrong.

Of course there was some pent-up demand for MS' console as well. But I imagine the sales drop-off was pretty steep now that the console is sitting on store-shelves everywhere. So from now on the gap may become even wider.

Yup. Ah well, hopefully MS will dump some of their money into first party games. Buying Gears is ok and all but if they had more 1st party stuff it wouldn't have to come to that. Look at Sony, they shit the bed with PS3 but they were able to bounce back with a price drop and a ton of great 1st party content. They can't outsell Sony this Gen but they don't have to get completely steamrolled either. It's up to them to get their heads out of the sand, realized they fucked up and put in an effort. Games sell games consoles and without the multiplat advantage they'd better bring some heat.

Okay, if you really insist
EA is so stupid. They probably could have gotten the same amount from MS if they threatened to make Titanfall Playstation exclusive. MS would've sent truckloads to make sure it was multiplatform. Now they're going to miss out on the money train.

kind of says alot about the games out so far.

I'd still play something like a new dead rising, killer instinct, or forza over a next gen port of Flower.

Considering how different Flower is to a conventional game I'm sure a lot of people would agree with you. All the Flower score really says is that a good game will always be a good game.

It isn't just Titanfall, they backed XB1 for everything:

1) Titanfall obviously
2) Peggle 2 exclusive window
3) Garden Warfare exclusive window
4) BF4 map pack exclusive window
5) exclusive content for EA Sports games

Not sure if I'm forgetting anything else.

I happily enjoy seeing EAs pull not as strong as they would like.
Feels sofukinggood.gif that this backfired. heheh
Hey EA, you still confident in those forecasts? >;)
The best thing comuing from this is that TF2 will pretty much me multiplat.

Titanfall should be on PS4, it's unfortunate that backroom politics and deals have prevented an install base of 5 million gamers the chance to play a great new game. I am very much looking forward to Destiny, and it appears to me an ambitious and dare I say 'revolutionary' game. Glad that Activision and Bungie didn't go that route.

Yup, I'm so glad to see it going down like that, especially because it shows EA doesn't have as much power as they thought. I can see them crawling back to Sony awfully fast now, It's just hilarious, honestly.

I thought it was a contract deal. I think Microsoft is funding it so I doubt it will appear on any other system. Kinda like Bayonetta 2 on Wii U.
I could be wrong though.

All MS did was pay for them to cancel the PlayStation version. Titanfall would have come out regardless of what MS did. Why do you think they got so much hate? (And deservedly so).

You're forgetting that 3rd party games don't exist. Here on GAF we exclusively play exclusives.

Yup, third party doesn't exist, neither do indies, and cross gen ports don't count (unless they're Titanfall). Also, anything PC/PS4 doesn't count either (unless they're Titanfall). Logic!

EA should fire Peter Moore.

I don't know if its Peter's fault, but this sucks for EA and Respawn. They had an opportunity to grow their fanbase at an early stage without much competition. By the time Titanfall 2 comes out, there will be a lot of other good games, maybe even some clones. If you're serious about franchising a game, you don't do this. Hopefully they got a lot of money out of the deal.

Now you're creating counter arguments for me, and adding an asterisk to other peoples statement, while still being wrong. Titanfall doesn't even have reviews yet, you keep arguing against an argument that isn't there, to the point that you're making them up as you go now. Just admit you didn't read the post.

The game hasn't even been released it yet

Well yeah but they got $$$ and more importantly a huge marketing campaign from MS that's going to last for future TF games.

The most interesting thing IMO is how one sided would console sales be if EA had a strategic partnership with Sony instead?

Very happy that PS4 is doing so well. I hope both PS4 and Xbox One sell good because Sony needs competition, but I hope PS4 gains enough of a lead to make Microsoft wake the hell up with the Xbox One's successor.

Microsoft said:
We purposefully did not target the highest end graphics. We targeted it more as a broad entertainment player
Fire everyone involved with Xbox One.

It should be 5.6 by now.
After the Japanese launch I'm expecting the over 6 million announcement.

I think this is why they announced 5.2 million now, sony knows how much it is selling in japan. So after the launch in japan they will be around 5.9 and they can just round and say 6 million. Its the greatest pr plan ever.

Grats to Sony! this is impressive and they did a Great Job with the PS4, said so: I'm still waiting for a game that makes me buy a PS4.

What do you mean? Titanfall comes out in March.

I don't think it'd be much different than it is now. The Fifa bundle did next to nothing for the X1 and Titanfall isn't going to be the savior people think it is.

I never said it's going be a saviour, writing the game off before it's even been released however, I don't agree with it, especially given the positivity.

I agree that none of the individual components would sway many consumers, but I think a lot of XB1's have been purchased thanks to Fifa content or titanfall or BF DLC etc, Obviously PS4 sales wouldn't be any higher as it's essentially sold out but XB1 sales could be lower.

Yeah but when Titanfall shifts 1 million Xbox Ones then who'll be laughing!?

I mean, they could just get it on 360 or PC/Laptop... and a toaster could run it (I'm in the BETA and have indeed played it on a toaster).

Yeah, I also enjoy looking at Battlefield 4 stats as PS4 and PS3 are the consoles with the most concurrent users.

Shame, EA, Shame.

Personally the only reason I have a Xbox One is because dead rising and Titanfall, I've say it before and I say it again: I have no stake on console fanboy nonsense... I want good games regardless of platforms, The PS4 its a terrific console I'm just waiting for a game I want to play.

I'll say it's fair to say console exclusive still drive some sales, but I hardly believe is the main factor nowadays (which is weird considering you buy this things to play games).
