I think it is ridiculous that some though titanfall - a game that is also available on the PC and 360, would have some sort of significantly large effect on shifting Xbox one machines. If it had been an exclusive title, perhaps it would have been a different story. As far as I can see, its like windows xp, people are happy to keep playing with the 360 but still have no reason to move to the Xbox one. Instead, they do see competitors as alternatives to some degree

Because you don't go to EA and say, hey, figure out how much you think you would make by selling this game on the PS4 and we'll give you that to be exclusive to us and then not expect to sell a bunch of extra consoles because of it. Just the fact that there were discounted Titanfall bundles everywhere means that they expected this game to move consoles.

We are not talking about a price drop tomorrow. We are talking about this year. PS4 wont be selling out still by then, If MS drop the price to $399, Sony will drop price to maintain their advantage.

once again, they are selling PS3 at $270 and not dropping the price.

By your reasoning, PS3 would be already at $149 or less.

Now or December, it is all the same, it wont happen.

If MS goes crazy aggressive, they will simply bundle a game or increase HDD to 1TB. But MS wont go crazy aggressive because their investors are hard on them for losing money on "side" projects like this.

Can't be arsed to read through the last few pages since am at work but tell me who the mod for Nintendo is and I'll yay at their direction.

What the heck is going on in this thread. I'm shocked that I am wrong but my goodness. I said I didn't think there would be meltdowns but shit, The meltdowns are real! Ben and Gies both going off on twitter about reliability of NPD results!? WHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAATTTTTTT!?!

Where was this screaming advocacy for NPD when the Xbox was winning for all 6 years of last gen? Where was this sense of doubt in the number tracking? What is going to on??!?!!?!

The third-party publishers and analysts seemingly had 10,000,000 next-gen systems sold-through as their expectation for the fiscal year, so the combined numbers are still speaking well for the odds of next-gen titles getting green-lit, even if the ratio is a bit more skewed than most likely imagined.

Hopefully we'll see more companies stepping up with their plans for PS4/XB1 releases since the total Gen 8 install base is larger than had been anticipated.

I'm gonna say this right now; it's been a fun, fun thread.

Well, there's that, and there's also this:

We're witnessing history in the making right now. For the first time ever, we're seeing a video game console manufacturer reverse a downward trend in their brand appeal. By all accounts, the roles btwn MS and Sony should be reversed right now. MS had the up gain w/ 360. They had the muscle. They had the big hitters and favor. Sony's comeback w/ PS3 in the end was, in all honesty, something that would never have happened if last gen was a normal gen. It should be PS4 facing the upward struggle, not XBO.

And yet here we are. Watching Sony do what Atari couldn't. What Sega couldn't. And what Nintendo fluked into doing so it doesn't really count* .

The Piper was supposed to be at their front door, now they're in Microsoft's living room eating an appetizer.

* Not my personal opinion.

The reason behind it is simpler than many people seem to realize.

Sony stuck by their gun as the have been hell bent on pushing gaming on the same curve they have always been doing, at the same time, all other manufacturers were busy trying too hard to find some undiscovered goldmines all for themselves.

Nintendo thought they had the next big thing with the tablet/traditional controller mixture, whereas Microsoft thought their gain would substantially increase if they merge gaming with the more common and traditional mediums. Sony was actually the only one who stayed on their normal path pushing and focusing the area in which most console gamers care about.

I firmly believe the massive success of Wii/DS and the subsequent rise of casual market from Facebook and Smartphones deluded a lot of top executives. Everyone seemed too focused on an easy cash-in from a new untapped market, they started focusing less and less on the better defined console gaming market. Sony, I believe is the only who has been consistent in their vision of delivering high-end games, which although sort of backfired during the early years of last generation, it has been one of the biggest factors on putting Sony where they are right now in the console market.

You know MS was sweating it all day....

Sony had no idea what Microsoft's numbers were but when Sony announced their 7 million sold through yesterday MS surely knew what was likely to happen today and were readying their PR army. That 5 million # was on the ready as a counter (even if it wasn't apples to apples) this shows there was intent behind it .

Guess MS is getting a small taste of what Nintendo is used to and seem to be dealing with it in the same way. Denial...

Was that true what someone wrote about the 360 taking the most sales against the PS3 and Wii now, for best selling 7th gen console?!?!?! I had no idea. I probably read that wrong.
