The beta right after christmas for three weeks! 343 you doing to much my body can never be ready!

When does the beta end? I've heard two different dates from different retailers, some say the 22nd of January while others say the 17th. Do we have a clear date?

Looks like GameStop has the best preorder bonus: skull giving you unlimited ammo and grenades.

That's where I'm getting it from (or at least the Aussie version of Gamestop) as it allows me to just mess around.

I know people hate this skull from HCEA but personally I think the fact that it allows me to just go in and play with the feeling of being godlike while the enemies still pose a threat of some kind.

Any word on if achievements carry over? I have a 100% GS on all the Halo games already (minus Halo 2 of course). Achievements were fun but man some of those were brutal to unlock the first time, haha!

I don't believe so since they're two different consoles.

But I know that feel, I even have all the Halo 2 achievements.

Hmmmm. I would pay full price for Reach, and ODST campaigns, firefights if they add them as paid DLC later. With all the same perks. Achievements, forge/theater/60FPS1080p and some little tick box to allow them in map rotation. Reach has 17 Multiplayer maps by itself, and then it's own Forge guidelines.

If you want to tell the entire Master Chief Saga, these side stories would be great to have added later. It's almost more about the idea, that I can get everything from one disc. That I don't have to purchase another collection, or updated extreme directors cut blu ray ripley scotts ball sweat edition.

The package is called Master Chief collection, but in reality Halo 1-4 is about Master Chief and the covenant war. Or at least Halo 1-3. Halo 5 marks a new protagonist, new enemies and dilemmas. Reach is a precursor to Halo 1. You need it to literally understand the proper context of Halo 1. ODST is basically filler for Halo 3, it won't make much sense by itself.
And Halo Wars is like the epilogue to all the games. Halo Wars would have to be it's own mode haha. It would be weird to be playing online and then have everyone vote for next map being Halo Wars.
But I think they would fit. With that much variety, you literally might never grow bored. The sheer variaty of such much maps, wow. And seven campaigns. It literally would allow Halo 5 to be a new beginning. And would probably render the need for future remakes, Anniversary editions needless. The final swan song for Halo. Letting Halo 5 actually become something new instead of this schizo child that is stuck between being familiar and new.

Man, I don't even care about Halo 2 multiplayer. Halo CE will give me my Goldeneye-style fix, and halo 3 at 60 fps with dedicated servers is all I ever really wanted since 2008. This game can't come soon enough, and neither can news about the xbox one bundle that they will inevitable have.

This. All of this. Halo 3 in true HD running smoother than before? I'm sold. So sold. So sold that I don't know what to do with myself for the next 153 days.

Do we know if Forge will be included?

READ THE OP SHEEPLE Forge is included "natively" according to game - Halo 3 has Halo 3 Forge, Halo 4 has Halo 4 Forge, H1 and H2 don't have forging options but the Halo 2 Anniversary maps have some kind of Halo 4.5 Forge that hasn't been explained in detail yet.

Maybe I should use icons for the stuff that's a bit buried.

I'm really interested in the details behind the new Forge, although I'm not expecting something crazy because they're just old maps (as opposed to blank canvases). Of course, that doesn't rule out a Tempest-like treatment with pieces on top of a terrain map.

This is the only videogame I will need until the next, next gen.

CTF on Terminal, Battle Creek, and Avalanche all day, every day.

Know how Halo 3 did that thing in split-screen where if you moved away from something like a Mongoose it will fade out, and after a distance not be rendered at all? I wonder if that was implemented dynamically based on available memory, or statically based on the number of local players? If the former then it'll scale to the Xbox One, otherwise it won't. I hope they do get around to fixing these types of things, rather than just porting the game.

One curosity/slight concern: will Halo 3 look worse than Halo 2?

Only time will tell...

Day 1.

One curosity/slight concern: will Halo 3 look worse than Halo 2?

Unsurprisingly, it'll probably go Halo 2 Multiplayer Anniversary > Halo 2 Anniversary > Halo 4 > Combat Evolved Anniversary > Halo 3 > Halo 2 > Combat Evolved.

Combat Evolved Anniversary, lighting / particles / skyboxes notwithstanding, was close to Halo 3 in terms of graphical fidelity. H2A looks to have decent models / retextures, and without a doubt has way better lighting going on. With all of the games at a standardized resolution / framerate, it'll really just boil down to textures / polycounts / lighting, and of course personal preference.

Nope but there are new and modified ones so it won't be an identical slog.

Not sure if you guys saw this but saved films are in and they work on 2,3,4 according to ign.

So is this confirmation of saved films for original Halo 2 multiplayer or just the new engine with the six maps? I believe I read a post from stinkles that said if it was a feature in that game, then it will be included. So saved films for Halo 3 and 4 are confirmed, and I would assume the new engine has them too. But Halo 2 was originally supposed to have saved films, maybe they can be brought back?

Spectators too!

Also, have we heard anything about clan support? Specifically clan matches, or at least a custom games browser?

It's awesome that they're including the Halo 1 PC maps. Are we getting the fuel rod cannon and flamethrower as well?

Theater Mode, not saved films. My slip of the tongue, but we're still working on saved films, although there are other tools for that specific functionality.

Just double checking, I assume local multi-player will be available, but will LAN play and can we play online with players on the same console?

I remember with Halo 2 on the original Xbox, we had my brother, me and my dad all playing online on one console under one live account, I'd love to pick up some more controllers and recreate that, do any xbox one games support this? and if so, would they need their own accounts and memberships etc?

Can you comment on whether or not Halo 3's "kill two players with a Spartan Laser, do your taxes, plan a wedding, invent perpetual motion and patent cold fusion in Ranked FFA" achievements are getting modified, or at least broadened to be achievable in general multiplayer?
