Wow! Still no signs of Xbox Family spins from MS?

The problem with your analogy is we've long since realized the Wii U is a console for Nintendo fans both faithful and returning. Except for those who are simply interested in pointing out how dead it is every month I don't think most realists paying attention to the industry have those kinds of expectations.

I guess it depends how you want to look at the consoles numbers. The bump was an ok number. But if you are only comparing it against the current mainstream consoles then you'll be safe in seeing the console as "dead" every month.

For you maybe, but that's not the message we got from Nintendo since the console was released (although is quite clear now after E3).

You're talking from the point of view of gamers or from the point of view of the company? You may thing the bump was ok, but I can't see Nintendo HQ throwing a party.

I guess Sony isn't interested in NPD warz, they don't give us any numbers even when they are winning
They would look "arrogant" if they all of sudden released the NPD Kraken. I like their attitude. Just release the x million sold numbers once in a while and call it a day.

It's pretty quiet now...

No numbers from MS (Xbox family pls?) and leaks probably won't be until later. I'm really interested in seeing how MK8 did with 2 days of sales and MLB for PS4.

Microsoft is still silent.
Nintendo's dead.
Sony never gives numbers for some dumb reason, even when they dominate.

*sigh*

Guess we wait for leaks.

Because if they give the PS4 numbers, they will have to give Vita numbers too. That's also the reason why they grouped Vita and PSP numbers together when they release their financial results.

The Luigi Death Stare going viral and E3 buzz happened in June, if there's is a significant boost in Wii U HW sales, we'll see it in June. The MK8 bundle only had 2 days and with the Wii U selling as bad as it does, the majority of the 60k happened in those 2 days.

man to live in some of yals worlds

WiiU sales are terrible. It should be doing at least that in a very slow month. To do that in a month of such a big game is baaaad. Sure MK was out 2 days but it's software side of things seemed to have done really well. Word of mouth is going to have to be killer for the WiiU to actually sell decent numbers for once. An impossible task.

We desperately need some numbers/info. Thread is going as slow as WiiU sales so far.

I still wouldn't be surprised if the PS4 outsold the One by near 3:1 for May. In fact, I'm almost expecting it now.

Now this is relatively valid.. But again MK8 was only out for two days which probably isn't enough time for word of mouth to spur hardware sales to terribly much. In the regard of hardware June will probably be more telling either way.

I hate to do this for what I am assuming another Arrested Development fan but no. Everytime a big game releases with only a few reporting days in a NPD thread I hear this arguement. Oh next month sales will be larger, or word of mouth needs to spread, etc. the gross majority of the time this is flat out wrong.

Let me tell you Mario Kart is an amazing game that will go on to sell untold millions. However, it will not save the Wii-U. The Wii-U will not sell more consoles in June unless it is a longer month, or June is historically a much larger revenue generating month. It will not sell more due to this magical word of mouth or because e3 Nintendo really knocked it out of the park.

Wish they'd do a PlayStation family thing then.

We could just take off 2% of the results to get the PS4 numbers.

Awful Wii U sales. Note to self for predictions, be more pessimistic.

Meanwhile, definitely goes towards showing the plural of anecdote is not data.

The good news for the Wii U is it seems existing Wii U owners are finally buying software. Who knows if it will last, but it was a major hurdle Nintendo was having a tough time getting over. Once they make peace with the idea that the install base will never really pick up and just focus on getting a few million from their big games, it will be an easier storm to ride out.

I certainly hope that the stronger-than-expected Wii U showing at E3 is about selling as much software (and Amiibo figurines) as possible to the Nintendo faithful while silently shifting gears towards the 2016 launch of a successor, rather than an attempt to "save" Wii U. I'm still not sure it isn't the latter, though.

Uh guys, why is Nintendo quiet too? Why are we not getting PR from them? Please don't tell me both Wii U and Xbone cratered. My heart can't take that kind of punch.

Seems pretty possible. Why wouldn't you wait a few weeks to save a hundred bucks? Can't imagine that many people really want to spend 100 bucks on a Kinect at this point if they can avoid it.

But the Kinect SKU also has titanfall. It's a great value, so I could see lots of people still going for that version even if they have little interest in Kinect.

Vita was only on sale for 28 days this month! just wait until combined june and july numbers to see that the world has been shown the truth!

Same as Tifanfall. The game attracted attention from already present user base, with low attraction for new console buyers.

People who were going to buy a console for MK bought a wiiU before it even came out. I have a feeling the same thing will happen with the new zelda.

The mention of the bump at E3 says otherwise 310% increase mentioned by Reggie)

Also reflecting on how Nintendo tried to sell the console for the first year plus is a bit meaningless as even they've scrapped all of that, hence their handling of E3 this year like you mentioned.

It's a Nintendo console for Nintendo games. It is what it is and pretty much everyone (including Nintendo at this point) says as much.

But that's exactly what a histogram is: a graphical representation of data, therefore a a having gaps between the bars is a different graphical representation of data. What's shown is a bar chart.

Also there is a reason; the bars touch to show that the data given is continuous. They also touch as the width of the bars determine the height.

Frequency density (y variable) = (frequency*k) /class width (bar width)

Where k is a chosen constant.

Anyway, this is an NPD thread. Not a stars lesson ;)

...you are wrong, but as you said this is not the place to discuss that :)

Very interested to see June numbers for Mario Kart and Wii U. Number two in two days. I said goddamn.

Don't worry, Vitabros. Borderlands 2 didn't crack top ten because bundles aren't counted! But really, interested to see some Vita numbers.

I think someone needs to back and review the Wii U NPD numbers since January 2013. The numbers BananaSprinkles compiled do not come close to adding up to the 90% Year over Year growth. They show closer to a 15% increase in sales. Something is not right with our numbers.

I wonder if a positive E3 as well as hopefully some legs on MK8, and good word of mouth, will translate to some decent WiiU HW numbers this month.
