Over the past month, we’ve seen a strong spike in interest in our Xbox One console options, including the new $399 offering, and the amazing lineup of games announced during E3. Since the new Xbox One offering launched on June 9th, we’ve seen sales of Xbox One more than double* in the US, compared to sales in May, and solid growth in Xbox 360 sales.

As to be expected with the kinectless SKU.

Since the new Xbox One offering launched on June 9th, we’ve seen sales of Xbox One more than double* in the US, compared to sales in May, and solid growth in Xbox 360 sales.

We’re excited to welcome so many fans to Xbox this summer and we can’t wait for them to get their hands on the wide selection of new games available this year on Xbox One, including Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Sunset Overdrive, Forza Horizon 2, and Ori and the Blind Forest. Xbox One is the only place you can play these games along with creative independent titles and blockbusters such as Assassin’s Creed Unity, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Destiny, Evolve, Grand Theft Auto V, and dozens more. We’re honored that Xbox One was awarded with the best games line-up of 2014 by game critics at E3 and our fans have a lot of amazing new games to look forward to in the coming months.

Starting in August with the release of Madden NFL 15, new blockbuster hits will launch for Xbox One at an incredible pace throughout the fall, as we head into the holiday season. Gamers love the holidays and we are lining up incredible deals and special promotions to celebrate. The fun is just getting started and we can’t wait to share more exciting news soon.

*- Internal data based on retail calendar and sold through numbers

Interesting timing for this announcement... disappointed they didn't mention Gamescom at all at the bottom for "Hear more about the future of Xbox One at Gamescom!" or something.

Incredible deals being their usual 2 game holiday bundle I expect

PS4 was about double Xbox One's sales in May wasn't it?

If so that doesn't sound too impressive. I mean sure it doubled. But it doubled to reach PS4 level...

Are NPDs over for June?

Tomorrow.

Not sure why this is out now. I'd say it's to ward off whatever else they're hiding, but Sony has proven that you can't really look into their timing too much when it comes to confidence.

PS4 > Xbox One on June NPD confirmed.

Pretty much. However, hasn't MS gone into these press releases in the past and silently edited them after the reveals?

Good. Xbox one has some great games lined up for this year & the next. My wish is that ps4 & xbo are neck & neck for awhile so people can stop all the fan flame nonsense -.- It's so old constantly seeing people attack each other over freaking opinions

It might be notable that their may sales were incredibly bad (16k?) so double would make it a solid third place again.

Hm announce numbers before npd? Not that good?

And wasnt last month quite bad due to people waiting for the cheaper version?

1) Competitors don't need to be neck and neck for competition to exist. It's a false equivalency.

2) This is only in one single country where the competition is close. There's a few dozen others where it isn't and never will be close.

3) The discussions will never end.

So around 160K with an extra week in June NPD.

I believe 77K was the number from last months NPD thread.

Well they aren't saying double 'weekly' sales tho...makes me think even with an extra week in the month they have only around 150k...which is a poor result

Why would you adjust for an extra week? It's month vs. month not weekly sales.

I didn't adjust the number. I doubled the 77K from last month and just rounded up to next 10k. I was just pointing out that may was 4 weeks and june was 5 weeks.

Why would you adjust for an extra week? It's month vs. month not weekly sales.

Edit: and yes, quite early. Preemptive strike for NPD results from tomorrow.

Yeah its hard to decipher when numbers are spun through PR. I guess we will see for sure tomorrow.

You adjust for the extra week if you're looking for a time horizon of less than a year because if a product sells on a constant basis, you see growth from May to June and shrink from June to July and neither of those reflect anything structural about the product.
