Skullgirls |OT| New age of Heroines

Is this in the current beta? I will load it up to check if so, but it takes my computer a good 20 minutes to load Steam (it really is that bad), so I want to be sure - lol.

I just tried it and it pretty much works like that. I don't think you can summon her without her doing an attack.
How much of a bar does each one cost?

The attacks in and of themselves don't cost any meter, it's just the act of having her out that causes it to decrease at a set rate so the attacks with longer animations will end up costing just a tad more in comparison to the shorter ones. If we're talking on the scale of individual attacks though none of her stuff takes all that much meter, something on the scale of 1/5 of a meter and lower. The combos that are geared to taking advantage of Sekhmet for max damage don't use more meter than what's gained during the course of the combo either. (Sekhmet attacks don't gain meter but Eliza's will).

Calling Sekhmet as an assist does cost meter but it drains at a decreased rate compared to having her out on point.

Not on point at least.

I'm not calling her broken since it's not even day 1, but scary for sure. I'd say Eliza is already pretty strong herself, but Sekmeth pushes her farther.

But when you look at her current combo pathways and damage output ...

She's definitely not staying as good as she is right now. lol.

And yeah, you mentioned it. If Eliza were released as is without any of the Sekhmet shenanigans she'd already be an easily viable character. She's got an airdash and all of the pressure and mixups that go along with that, shes got easy cross unders that could be combined with assists/cancelled into specials for day 0 crossup stuff, projectile invincible boat, full screen grab specials, and her remaining special moves open up her combo potential to a borderline insane degree. We'll probably start to see things like the removal of combo-ability off of molecular shield/potentially DP before the end of release just to cut down on the number of potential strings she has at her disposal.

And then you add Sekhmet.

So we're still talking with Sony, but support for PS3 sticks isn't looking good.

They more or less said that we'd have to write a custom driver for PS3 fight sticks, and even if we did that they couldn't guarantee that Sony TRC would allow it.

I'm trying to get more information, but the impression I'm getting is that the statement their references is talking about really custom controllers direct from that developer/publisher, like guitars, etc.?

Or they'll keep her as is and she'll be the new Magnito/Sentinal/Storm of this game :p On the real though, someone please give her that nerf bat to the face. I think we can all see the abuse she'll give online otherwise.

It is the will of Valentine so mote it be!

Do you think Big Band/Squigly are not being played because they're not very good or because people haven't had as much time with them, and are therefore reluctant to pick them somewhere like evo?

i was always under the impression they were pretty decent/interesting characters

In any game, when new characters come out, folks are reluctant to pick them up. In Marvel, it took a while before the USA understood how good Vergil is. The game is over a year old and just now someone is showing the potential of Firebrand. Folks don't like to change their stuff. I know I don't.

You can select taunts as assist.
Are all of Eliza's specials and blockbusters in the beta? Since my laptop's hard drive died I haven't followec the progress towards her, at least it's replaced now and I can play again.
Eliza has all her moves. All blockbusters and all specials.
I'm terrible at this game. Whats the most brain dead assist/caracter combination to use?

Don't play Squigly or Fortune.
Fila (H Updo)
Double (MK or HK Hornet Bomber)
Big Band (H Brass Knuckle)

According to whiny people, those are the "cheap" assist of the "braindead" characters.

You can play everyone braindead or advanced imo.

Double is really hard to play on point IMO.

Speaking of Squigly being difficult for beginners, today I decided to atempt to work Stancels into my BnB and am having a terrible time getting the timing down right. Can't tell if I'm doing the QCF too late or starting the post-cancel combo too late or what. Any tips for figuring out what's wrong?

wat

if I'm doing something like LP MP HPx2 [SC] LK MK HK etc. don't you have to do the QCF+P motion to start the charge?

Do QCF+P before that combo and charge until it's full (there's a sound and a flash iirc) thn cancel out of the stance (press kick? I forget)

once in that combo do ...

LP MP HP PP(aka SC) LK MK HK ->etc

Finally got around to watching the Skullgirls EVO final! Damn, Sage really took it home!! Those were some great matches.

I just put time into Eliza for the first time yesterday.

Oh my god

The damage, the air superiority, the air dash and all her other supers already put her on the map even before Sehkmet is tossed out there. It looks like she'll have quite a few decent assist options too. I can totally see myself using her as my new base Solo character for fun and fighting against newbies. God help everyone if he has two good standing overheads. I wish her level three started horizontal (or her air super would be a bit easier to follow up with a DHC... *cough*Parasoul's level 3*cough*), though. That would be the greatest.

Daaaamn. So you would have to create a PS3 to PS4 driver for each model of stick? That's lame of them seriously.

I'm pretty worried actually about how much she can do as just Eliza. I haven't gotten many opportunities to use her against human players but I could totally see it being the case where a player could easily outright ignore Sekhmet in her neutral and I kinda wanted the mechanic to be a more integral part of her gameplay (like ABA/Valkenhayn). But she's ended up with a far more versatile game outside of Sekhmet entirely.

Does anybody know if Mike Z plans to implement backwards compatibility support for PS3 sticks in the PS4 port of Skullgirls?

Read up a little.

But, despite that report, it sounds like this is impossible.

It basically means that we'd have to write a new, custom driver for PS3 sticks on PS4, and there's no guarantee that Sony would accept it even if we did somehow have the time or knowhow to do that.

Also, even if we thought we could do that, testing for every possible stick, etc. would be a nightmare and prohibitively expensive for us.

Oh yeah, Fukua is "braindead" too. Either H Drill or M Clone for assist.

And dont get attached to WiP Eliza. Damage values and hitboxes are the last thing finalized.

Did you get to ask why this runs counter to official Sony PR? Cause the way they word it makes it sound like it's all on the developers rather than Sony setting impossible hoops to jump through.

Not sure why I didn't do a simple ctrl+f on the page. My bad.

I hadn't thought about it from that perspective.

Now, if only I could find someone willing to mod my stick for the next-gen consoles...

I really don't get why Sony puts it on the developers to do this stuff. Why isn't Sony working with stick manufacturers to create drivers? Maybe I'm just not looking at it the right way...

Anyway, the whole FGC will have to buy new sticks this generation no matter what you guys do.

That really frustates me. I don't want my stick to end up as a dust collector.

It really sucks, and it is really shitty, but the big 3 don't seem to care about it. If I had a better understanding of the underlying issues, I'd start an awareness campaign.

Hey Ravid is it cool if I make a new thread with this post? I think some people are still holding out on PS3 controller backwards compatibly with a few select devices.

Uh, I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't.

Let me talk to Sony some more and see what they say.

Let me know how it goes.

I'm more, like... trying to get Sony to clarify the reality of this themselves, so we're not "calling them out" or whatever.

Me "choosing" to write a driver does technically fall within the language they used, but the way it's worded makes it sound like it's a supported thing that we can just flip a switch to use or not, and that is definitely not the case.

That is definitely the understanding I had ever since Sony first posted that FAQ, up until yesterday.

If you don't mind me asking Ravi, what's the status of the Linux port? A friend asked about helping out with it some time ago but never got a reply to his email.

Linux dude is now PS4 dude and Linux port will be easier to complete due to it.

I really hope we keep the new snapback effect+music and super kill screen even if they are PS4/PC only bonuses.
