When Q wanted to knock Picard's ego down a peg or two, he introduced him and his crew to the Borg. They were terrifying. They analyzed you, and assimilated you. They were all one conciousness. You destroy one, the next one comes with better defenses. They won't stop adapting, and they won't stop trying to conquer you. Picard knew he was fucked, and had to depend on Q to get out of dodge.
And the Borg was made worse ever since.
They were awesome because they were simple. They weren't malicious. They didn't have any human like reasoning for doing what they do. There was no individuality. There was just Borg. Once that formula was changed, they were no longer cool.
Why was there a Locutus of Borg? Why wasn't he just Borg? There should be no individuality. Once Picard was assimilated, that should have been it. All of his knowledge incorporated, and the Enterprise either compromised, or destroyed.
Why the hell was there a Borg queen? WTF??? They are now a bunch of android bees now? Plus she was such a smug bitch... this twist in the Borg mythos posed me off. I hated the Borg after this.
Plus they made the Borg weaker. I loved it when they were an unstoppable force. I was ready for ALL of the political forces in Star Trek to join together to combat the Borg, because anything else would be futile. But they nerfed the most powerful enemy in Star Trek, so... meh.
Is there anything that could be done to make the Borg formidable again?
