AC Unity In-game Map Size revealed.

Pretty sure last years demo was on PS4 considering they also demoed Vita remote play. I think they have always demoed AC games on the consoles.

They had two demos last year if I remember correctly. It debuted on a PC then shortly followed up with PS4 footage at a later show. I may be getting mixed up with a WD reveal though.

Edit: Actually I'm certain this was the case as I remember the PS4 demo crashing and not being too bothered having already seen it before.

i can't help but feel any other areas will be a secret location you'll visit in the story like with some past AC games. DLc is also possible.

Even thought the Eiffel Tower did not exist in the period, I wonder if they'll add it just for funsies. I mean they explained away things that shouldn't be in the last game, why not this one?

maybe we'll see it in the modern parts. you know those segments will be back.

1:1 Paris and 1/4 enterable buildings sounds iffy. One or the other is probably a huge exaggeration.

I'd love to be wrong though!

If everything else fails, it is a very good game to grab on a steam sale and use as a virtual tour

Hello, my name is Yves Guillemot, Vivendi S.A.'s Employee of the Month!
The demo for Black Flag that they showed during the Sony conference at E3 last year saw quite a downgrade for the final version.
Um what? The mission was exactly the same save for some changes in geometry and story. The game looks exactly the same as advertised in every game video they showed.

i doubt it. the distance real world from the city to Versailles is equal to the current game map. and the Gardens are a solid 14th the size of the map, of course they could just send us to the Palace and not let us explore much of the Garden

i can't wait to verify how 1:1 it is.

Not true for PC. The game looks exactly what they show.

I disagree

E3 version is much better to me. I think that is quite the difference. Linked 360 by mistake at first, apologies.

Hmmm, not sure how I feel about them going back to single city games. The catacombs are going to be awesome though.

Same here.
One of the reasons I'm loving Black Flag so much is that it finally does something different than big cities. Don't know if I'll be able to go back to that.

Yea, because you just compared the ps4 version to the 360 version. And that video has a very clear spoiler btw. Here's a video of the pc version. http://www.gamersyde.com/stream_assassin_s_creed_iv_black_flag_beginning_of_the_game-31180_en.html And here's a video of the pc version. Some of the new traversal animations makes it look really fun climbing around. I think it'll be great. I hope the protag is interesting.

Revelations was fucking good. I never used a bomb once and just went into a fugue state when I did the tower defense missions and therefore have no disparaging memory of them.

Am I the only one that liked Revelations? Loved the dark nature and the conclusion...

I wouldn't be surprised if the 'enterable' buildings are actually just the ones you can run straight through while parkouring, the kind they introduced in AC3.

I don't really trust Ubisoft when it comes to pre-release gameplay demos anymore. I do hope that it will look as good as it did at E3, but I'm not going to expect that it will.

Anyway, I'm glad to see that it's one big city.

9/10 times they have delivered very good games. They dont skimp on content like Activision/Sony/EA.. Black Flag was meaty.

I linked the wrong version. How about you link the section I was trying to compare eh?

PS4 here

E3 version still looks better to me. Any way I'm not going to argue, to late/early for that.

That's a 720p compressed youtube video of a 1080p game. I assure you that the game looks exactly the same except for changes to things like geometry. You may have preferred the jungle environment over the ruined temple environment in the final game but that doesn't=a downgrade. The character models, effects, etc are all exactly the same in the final game.

The fact that there are a hell of a lot less NPC's indicates there is a downgrade.

Agree to disagree because you wont change my mind as I wont change yours.

So the character models, detail, effects, are all exactly the same but there's less bumbling npcs hanging around so that means the game is downgraded? ಠ_ಠ

Please no piracy..no seas..no sailing! While great, I prefer II, Brotherhood and Revelations...and this one is from the director of Revelations! So far everything sounds perfect.

I read all that, it doesn't really quell the fears of those of us that have had it with the tried and true Ubisoft open world design.
Well my fears are plenty quelled with all the changes they're making based directly from fan feedback.

Given the various problems with multi-cities in AC3 (haven't gotten to 4/Black Flag yet. I should get around to that...)? I'm all for them focusing on a single city + Monteriggioni-ish "manson"/hub for the main character(s).

Variety worries me more than size.

One city/setting for the whole game? Uhm...

It worked well with Rome in Brotherhood, because that was pretty varied, but they weren't as concerned with authenticity then, so i hope they can replicate it with Paris.

The cities in AC3 for example were atrocious, didn't even explore them all, something i usually do in AC games.

Not to mention the catacombs underneath the city. I'm playing AC 3 right now and I think I do prefer single large cities. Though AC 4 does open world better than AC 3.

I have no doubt that the game will be huge, with plenty of semi-useless side activities to do. But please, Ubisoft, do the PC port right.

edit :

Didn't played the last game ... care to spoil me about this please ?

No real spoilers. They added Havana Cathedral and a few other locations that weren't really built in the time the game took place to add some variety to the cities, which would otherwise be really damn flat. Lampshaded it in the Codex (or whatever AC calls it).

EDIT: Reading through the thread, didn't realize so many people hated Revelations. I loved it, one of my favs in the series. Yes, it took some chances that didn't really pan out (tower defense minigame chief among them) but the story was good, the Desmond segments were entertaining, and Constantinople/Istanbul was amazing. Hearing that the guy who was in charge of the game that brought us there is running Unity makes me more excited, not less.

Actually, AC4 on PS4 only ran at around 720p at launch. It wasn't until a month or two later (when parity became discredited) that Ubisoft released a 1080p patch.

The game ran at 900p at launch and the 1080p patch came out within a week of release. Definitely overshooting on those estimates.

I am glad they are going back to single city games, Brotherhood was my favorite game in the series because it only centered on Rome.
