So if this is incuding multiplayer for all 4 games doesn't that mean the userbase is going to be pretty heavily split between the games? I'm a little worried the online might not be all that healthy for every game.

I wish these medals would replace the ones in the H2A playlist. Those Halo 4 ones are so small, visually unappealing and hard to differentiate.

100% this, surprised and disappointed they are not doing this. As well as leaving a lot of other stuff from Halo 4 in there. Hope it isn't an ego trip.

No EMP effect in Halo 2 Anniversary multiplayer is so good. I didn't know that was dropped until that video. I hope this change carries on to Halo 5, too.

Should we expect more we haven't yet seen or is that it from Gamescon this week?

The skybox on Ascension is absolutely mind melting when seen from underneath the maps structure.
Yes. Both maps are gorgeous. I disagree with people saying the Anniversary looks like Halo 4. Yes, they both have the same foundation i think, but Anniversary has those vibrant team colours which do not exist in Halo 4.

Is there any word if Halo Reach will be a future DLC type thing?
Hell no.

In order to keep the game a success over so many years, i believe you have to have a top notch multiplayer. Yes i also believe in a good story but to be honest, I can only play the campaign so many times until it gets boring. I know this is my opinion, but the reason i kept coming back to Halo 1 and Halo 2 was because of the competitive multiplayer. I would join in a match wanting to be challenged each and every time. I loved to get better. Practiced all hours of the night and day with friends, to make my 3 shot pistol better than everyone else. But the reason those two games are so good is map control and talking to your teammates. You could not have a great team without communication, and that has been missing in the newest games. I also am not a big fan at all of the stuff like the bubble shield. That thing, to me, single handily ruined Halo 3 for me. In conclusion, i appreciate 343 bringing my Halo 1 back with added multiplayer. Would love to see some video before the game releases. I am curious to see how the 60 fps looks.

real question, how many people here actually care about the Halo story for Halo 5?

I'm prob in the minority, but I honestly only care about how the multiplayer will turn out. The single player is fun and all, but it's honestly an afterthought to the mutliplayer. If the mutliplayer is garbage...then the entire game to me means absolutely nothing.
halo 4 was so uninteresting and dull i couldnt give a shit about halo story anymore. i mean its been 10 years and we are still fighting the god damn covenant. the franchise hasnt been any good since halo 3. at this point all i care about is 343 nailing the multiplayer because there is no way in hell the campaign is going to be any good anyway

Halo 4 wasnt really that bad - its just not as good as 1-3. Reading this forum makes it seem like its a 2 of 10 game. Insane hate. Its actually pretty hilarious. There are things about Halo 4 that are amazing - the look/art style of it for one, and just the feel of firing the weapons and moving around is far beyond the older games. The animation is top notch. The new mode Ricochet introduced in 4 might be the best objective mode of the franchise. Halo 4's thruster in multiplayer fits Halo so well - I miss it when I play 1-3. Sprint does need to go though.

The Halo story is amazing and it just as important as multiplayer - of course it is - its still getting multiple movies/shows/novels/comics. They arent making those things "just cause". The entire universe offers a wealth of stories and potential.

This is what really bugs me. Halo 4 is by no means a bad game. It's arguably the worst Halo (I actually prefer it to Reach) however that's still an extremely high bar. It can be the worst Halo and still be a fantastic game.

This was my first and only complaint about H2A. The medals are ugly as hell. The double kill medal is black. It should be yellow!

H2A's MP is looking very good. I really hope more maps get remade, and I can see it reigniting my interest in the series. It's been far too long since we had a good Halo multiplayer that worked online.

bridging host was a form of cheating itself

I've never heard a good explanation why this is the case. It's against the ToS, but why is it cheating? Especially since depending on the luck of the draw (read: the crappy matchmaking/host selection algorithm used in H2), some would get host nearly all the time anyway. Not to mention that as Bungie so often liked to claim back in the day, being the host was not a big advantage. It's nonsensical to have the same outcome (player X getting host all the time), yet call one cheating but not the other.

I particularly remember thinking how nonsensical this claim was as someone lived outside the US, which in H2 meant you were screwed due to the bias in the system (something the networking guys fully admitted and addressed in future games). "Oh you don't want to be permanently fucked over and enjoy a 120ms latency disadvantage? You're a cheater, deal with it".

i disagree about the 'halo story is amazing' part, well at least how it was told in the games maybe in the books its real good. bungie are really not good at story telling and if there was 1 word i could use to describe the halo story it would be 'predictable'. halo 1 had the lore of a new ip and created a sense of wonder and halo 3 closed the chapter off but its by no means amazing

halo reach/4 are just bad games period. even when judged on their own merit they are at most 6/10 imo

The Halo books, well at least the earlier ones (haven't read any of the newer ones) did a great job of building the story and world of Halo. Fall of Reach the book absolutely shits on Halo Reach the game in terms of all storytelling and it actually kind of pissed me off that Halo Reach ended up kind of contradicting the book.

Honestly reading the first Halo books was both the best and worst thing I did as a Halo fan. It made me get into the world of Halo more, but it ended up frustrating me game wise because Bungie seemingly went out of their way to not acknowledge the expanded universe.

So who's up for a Gaf slayer party on the release date? I need some practice. Last time I played a legit polished Halo multiplayer was back in '07. I play Halo:CE on my laptop but I feels wonky. Not to mention the only consistently active server seems to be a rockets/shotgun game type. 16 people shooting rockets at Longest... It's not even really fun.

Halo 4 wasn't even a good video game, much less a good Halo, lets not mention it again.

This kind of blanket statement doesn't do this community any service.

Mistakes were made but halo was a good game, hence its good review scores

Because of the push they made for graphics larger sandbox fights in single player were lessened and their development of new enemies wasn't wholly successful

In multiplayer, they made some great guns and wonderful, wonderful level design

Unfortunately they made bad decisions with map control and random drops

Yea. No an attitude like that is childish. Halo 4 when put up against a lot of games was a good game. Halo wise yes it wasn't the greatest Halo game but it certainly wasn't awful either.

I think it's a lot easier to screw up the small scale game than it is to screw up BTB, which is why I think they're focusing on the former so much.
