Most successful Xbox launch yet?

I'm expecting sales to be around 720-1080 units sold in 30-60 hours.

Ha, nice =).

General question since I read a Cave comment: is there a reason why they make Xbox exclusive shooters? I could see last gen as the 360 was easier to code for, but now the effort should be roughly the same between the one and ps4. Is there an exclusivity arrangement?

Either they launched early to get momentum or Xbox Japan has been tricking us with these release dates.

Clearly the demand is astronomically high, and hundreds of k will be sold, hundreds of k.

So they tried to get Japan to care about the 360 and it didn't work at all, why is anyone surprised that MS basically wrote off Japan from the start this time around?

Fans wrote it off, MS are still launching in Japan. Japan just ain't the massive zone that developers need to capture. They have to throw their nets much wider now.

Picking my preorder up tomorrow after class. :) I've been waiting so long for this to finally come out. Between this and Smash Bros next week, I'm not going to be getting much work done.

Don't they also have a Karoke app or something on launch? Maybe that will be popular?

Why should anyone there buy an Xone?
Multiplatform games are available (in better quality) for the PS4 and there are/will be more and higher quality exclusives for tbe PS4 (expecially japanese games).
People in Japan are interested in great exclusives and love games from their own country and I wish MS best of luck but they seem to not really be prepared for Japan.
It will probably sell less than the 360 (which sold under 2 million in his entire life cycle).

I was creating a topic for this, an official one, with all the bells and whistles and fireworks that this launch deserves. I'm disappointed I'll have to put it down now.

This is less of a laugh of how bad Xbone is and more to do with the purposeful disinterest in the Xbone just because it isn't Nintendo/Sony.

If I limited myself to English made games only I wonder how lacking my entertainment would be.

I managed to make just one Japanese person like the Xbone more than PS, through Dance Central. That's it.

Apple destroys your theory. Heck Ouya was imported for awhile to, has nothing to do with brand loyalty (outside possibly Nintendo.)

launching a system during summer. worst thing you could ever do.

poor ms, they should just avoid japan. its clearly a waste of money, if they are hardly accepting any foreign brands except apple.

sad to see, that the xbox and the best system of ms, the 360 clearly failed there.

i still hope, its going to change and they are able to change the market there a bit, but i guess home consoles are a thing of the past.... mobile is the new buzz word there...

I have a feeling MS invested maybe 1% in XBO of what they did with 360 in Japan, no big exclusives (sans Scalebound) or JRPGs, not even a TGS conference... makes me kinda nostalgic about first few years of 360 in Japan, number of japanese exclusives system got back then seem so surreal now.

Anyway if anyone cares looks like Chaos;Child got demo released on japanese gamestore, new site also http://chaoschild.jp/

Right but that's my point.

They're launching there but obviously they're not pushing it very hard, it's more like "well here you go, buy it if you want". And then the response in this thread is basically "yeah right MS! No way you'll sell any of your console in Japan!" But that's their feeling too. They know they're not going to sell very many.

X-box is for pussies, i think, PC is real hard-core...

Seriously? 6 posts in....

I really hope the xbox does really well today.

For all the shit people may give it I thoroughly enjoy mine.

Think it's a great system with a great bunch of exclusives as does the PS4.

So any news on why they are releasing like 2 or 3 days early?

I'll throw around 400-500k just for the lols. With my more realistic guess being 200-300k............ Just for the lols.

I think it is more of a case that no one shows up at the launch event, so they don't even get to see if they like it or not. A product like the iPhone (which by the way has a proper marketing team behind it) is one of those things that are so good people get to know if they like it without actively being curious.

Afaik the Surface Pro is good there. The problem with the MS side is that in all of the stores everything looks like it is just subtitled for the Japanese market.

I don't know where gamers there to their shopping, but one thing you can see in Tokyo is that word of mouth pretty much dominates the advertisement there. They should have had a deal with Hello Project to release exclusive AKB48 drama or something packaged with the event.

There wouldn't be any death threats or people being disappointed because it would only be tied to the event itself, possibly one where people simply play a game of Titanfall or DR3 with the zombie AKB48 girls as DLC (hilarious TV show I saw there).
