I don't get why this is so stupid or upsetting. Ace Attorney is a series where you defend an orca in a courtroom; interrogate a walkie-talkie and a parrot; channel the soul of your deceased mentor through the bodies of her younger sister and cousin; perform an exorcism during a trial; where people regularly have extreme psychotic outbursts and really bad cases of severe personality disorders...
What makes reimagining a well-established character, that has been reimagined countless times already, so stupid?

Could be cool. If anyone has earned the right to pull shit like this and still get the benefit of the doubt, it's Shu Takumi. I can see them turning the dynamic between the two into a similar one to Professor Layton and Luke. The crossover game was his previous project, so maybe he saw untapped potential in it.

The 8yo is probably going to be a reference to Pearl. Or the joke will be that this is one of the Sherlock twists where Watson is the more capable of the two.
The AA series actually uses children and teens really well, so this is a good little twist IMO.

The silhouette looks a bit like Will Powers at the moment. But the hair isn't actually the same so I don't know why I keep thinking of him, haha. Maybe someone else can recognise the hair style..?
Yeah, I could see Sherlock being real goofy, like Gumshoe. Who knows? Makes me wonder who'd end up as the prosecutor... maybe one of Blackquill ancestors? AA5 wasn't written by Takumi, so I doubt it. And honestly, I'd rather have original characters, rather than just a bunch of ancestors.

We've already had little girl companions in Ace Attorney thanks to Pearl and they had her transform into a big breasted adult to help Phoenix solve cases, watson being 8 and a girl doesn't impact me much. Look forward to seeing more

Reimagining an established character into the typical child anime girl that is so common in Japanese media, what exactly would be the point in changing him here other than to attract the moe crowd? An 8 year old girl is probably not going to be the doctor chronicler but even if she is, the relationship completely changes when you turn the character into a child. So excuse me if I find the potential change stupid.

I don't mind. Pearl was a fun character and I'm confident they can put a good spin on the character.
