If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
Guess we now know which plattform DQ11 will end up on - congrats MS !!

And let's not forget, when comparing, that the 360 had.. the promise of two Sakagushi AAA rpgs, one of which had Toriyama as designer.. Something the PS3 never had..

Abysmal :(
Back when MS saw hope in Japan, they helped fund Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey. I don't think we'll see something like that again.

I'm always ready for the worst when it comes to the traditional Japanese gaming market, but this totally train wreck of launch managed to negatively surprise me.

Honestly, they'd better pack up and leave before wasting time and money.

Certainly a reason why so many quite a few western multiplats are exclusive to PS in Japan.

As I said in the other thread, the ROI for the Xbox SKUs must be absolutely horrible for publishers to bother.

So

OG Xbox -> 360 = -50%
360 -> XB1 = -62%

OG Xbox -> XB1 = -81%

It really is quite awful even by Xbox standards

i know microsoft has some decent relationships with companies like mages and some other really niche developers in japan, but i don't see how they overcome the original xbox's sales.

I think we're looking at it wrong. The XBO clearly sold so well that Microsoft had to halt sales because of demand. There's only so much cumulus to go around.

Normally, that wouldn't be bad numbers, but when you see the numbers of other system and how much higher their sales were in two days in comparison to Xbox One's four days number, this is very bad. So much worse than I expected.

When you think about how much money they've poured in to trying to sell in Japan since the original Xbox launched, and this is where they are.

And let's not forget, when comparing, that the 360 had.. the promise of two Sakagushi AAA rpgs, one of which had Toriyama as designer.. Something the PS3 never had..

360 had a really good Japanese support at launch / around launch, and a lot of promises from Japanese developers. Dead or Alive 4, Capcom exclusives (Lost Planet, Dead Rising), Square Enix exclusives (Star Ocean IV, Infinite Undiscovery, The Last Remnant), Namco exclusives (Eternal Sonata, Tales of Vesperia, Ace Combat V, Ridge Racer VI, Katamari Damacy, Idolmaster), Sega exclusives (Chromehounds), and some Ms support such as Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey. In a time where all Sony exclusives were going multi (Resident Evil 5, Devil May Cry 4, Final Fantasy XIII).

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
or to foreigners.

Over half the people I saw lining up were white, so probably. In any event it sold a lot more than I expected it to.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
It's even more outsandingly awful when you consider it had 4 days, while other hardware launches had 2 days.

So what are we expecting to hear from Microsoft's PR after this announcement? I think they've run out of marathons, sports and horse/cart metaphors to explain the situation they're in.

Then again, they always manage to surprise me.
