A former teacher at Pasadena High School has been charged with having an improper relationship with a student, according to court documents.

Ashley Zehnder resigned from the school on Oct. 9, officials with the Pasadena Independent School District said.

Zehnder, 24, began a sexual relationship with a male student in late May, at the end of the last school year, according to Harris County court documents.

According to the student, Zehnder was the assistant cheer coach at the school and he was a member of the school's competition cheer squad. He told officers with the district's police department that the relationship began when he lost his cellphone and used the teacher's phone to locate his. He saved Zehnder's phone numbers and they began texting.

According to court documents, Zehnder eventually sent him a nude photo via the social media app SnapChat. The student saved the picture on his phone and later distributed it to a handful of friends at the school.

After an assistant principal, Candace Sirlin, learned about the photo, the district began an investigation, district officials said.

When confronted with messages found on the student's phone, Zehnder admitted to having sexual contact with him at her home from May until August of this year, according to court records.

Zehnder is out on $10,000 bail, according to Harris County records.

In a statement Monday, district spokeswoman Renea Ivy-Sims noted the seriousness of the felony charges against Zehnder, who also was a biology teacher at the school.

"This behavior will not be tolerated in Pasadena ISD. Our primary concern is to provide a safe learning environment for our students. When an educator violates the trust of a student, it makes it difficult for the majority of teachers who genuinely care for the safety and well-being of students," wrote Ivy-Sims.

Zehnder was placed on administrative leave on Oct. 1 when the school district investigation began, according to Ivy-Sims. She resigned about a week later.

Zehnder had been with the school since August 2013 Ivy-Sims said.

A 30-year-old Downey High School teacher and coach on Tuesday pleaded not guilty to more than a dozen charges related to an alleged sexual relationship he had with a student.

Brandon James Lee Hitchcock was taken into custody last Friday by Downey police detectives on suspicion of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, according to a news release from the city of Downey.

The arrest came about a week after an investigation began into allegations that he possibly had an inappropriate relationship with a student at the school, the release stated.

I really don't get what the hell teachers doing this shit are thinking with how ubiquitous sharing everything that gets sent through social media/mobile is. I'm sure it's pseudo exhibitionism for some of them, the thrill of doing something highly illegal, and stupid enough to distribute photos of themselves as well. Of course the kid is going to pass it around to his friends. I think some of them even want to be caught at least on a subconscious level.

It must have taken real courage to show his peers the evidence of abuse he.... I'm sorry I can't do it. I have a really snide comment lined up but the last thread was a graveyard.

It's probably a bit simpler than that. It's always flattering to get that kind of attention. Whether or not you act on it is another matter but it's not hard to imagine what is going through their heads when they do. I was surprised how much more common it was in universities and colleges, but it's obviously not as sensational or necessarily illegal.

I think 24 year olds and freshly graduated teachers should be sent to Elementary schools before going to high school aged kids. Would help so much taking these women away from Students in their age group.

I don't understand how these grown ass women lack enough sense to know that hooking up with a student might just ruin them for the rest of their lives. God damn, if a student fawns over you then great. Take the ego boost, not the felony.

A substitute teacher at a D.C. charter school is facing charges after allegedly having a sexual encounter with a student-- and it was only her first day on the job. Court documents say the teen asked her to perform sex acts equal to the number on his football jersey.

D.C. police say 22-year-old Symone Greene of Ft. Washington, Md. is charged with first-degree sexual abuse of a minor. According to D.C. Superior Court documents dated October 21, Greene was in her first day as a substitute teacher at Options Public Charter School, which is located on E Street NE.

The alleged incident took place on Friday, October 17 at the school. Court documents say the victim, a 17-year-old eleventh grade boy, was working as an office assistant in the classroom where Greene was substituting in an English class. The teen told investigators he flirted with Greene, and gave her his cell phone number.

The boy told investigators he got a text message from Greene the same day, and while he didn't recall the entire conversation that they had via text messages because he had erased them, he did report asking Greene if she was "kinky." The boy said her response was, "I dont tell I show." Later that day, the teen told investigators he engaged in oral sex with Greene in a school classroom, and he recorded the act without her knowledge. The teen told investigators he continued texting Greene through the weekend, and that she told him not to tell anyone what had happened because "it is not right for a student and teacher to have a relationship."

Documents say the teen, who is a football player, showed the video to several teammates and sent it to another friend outside the school. Authorities reviewed the video and video taken from school surveillance cameras to identify the classroom where the alleged act happened, and the teen agreed to text message the suspect again at the request of authorities. The teen saved a clothed picture that Greene sent to him of herself and identified her as the teacher who performed oral sex on him to authorities.

Is that it, though? I know there are people who are trying to push attraction to adolescents as its own sexual persuasion, but it hasn't been widely accepted (it's not in the DSM).

Seems to me more likely it's just regular old human weakness. People do stupid things with far worse consequences than sex with minors all the time. Consequences don't really make people more likely to think straight.

Not condoning her actions but the age gap isn't that massive really, and there's a good chance a 17 year old is fully physically developed. If that's the case, sexual attraction can happen without requiring anyone to be suffering from a paraphilia. She's likely just stupid, not some kind of monster.

Some of these teachers sound like predators. And yeah if you are a teacher, no excuse to sleeping with your student just because they are hitting on you. What is wrong with these people. Who would jeopardize their career/life? It almost seems like impulse they can't control.

It is kind of funny how the age of consent differs from country to country, like some people in different countries mature and develop faster or something, so damn arbitrary.

I work in a school and it sickens me to think of any of my co-workers doing this. No defending this no matter what. Teachers all know better. Mature adults all know better. It's pathetic.

For the record states probably do have some kind of law where it's illegal to have sex with a student regardless of their age so it's not even an age of consent issue. I can't remember what it is for Indiana where I work but it's definitely above the age of consent by at least a few years.

What isn't hard is keeping your dating pool above the legal age limit to avoid catching a statutory rape charge though. Being thirsty for attention isn't any excuse for this kind of nonsense.

All these teachers need to get their shit straight.

Could be that too. I don't know the woman or the kid but I know teenagers push a lot of swagger because of their arrogance and I guess that's a pull for some people. I just think why don't they stop doing X isn't a realistic way of looking at something like this.

Careers are over in teaching k-12. It's a crime, which kills your chances in many states and being rape puts you on sex offender lists, which bars you from working with children for life.

Pretty much over. Everyone gets fingerprinted prior to working at a school (I'm speaking about Texas but I think it's standard everywhere). They see what pops up, a crime of "low moral character" or something like that can be used to dismiss you from working at a school. Something like drunk driving or theft. These women are not going to be allowed on any school grounds unless they have kids there.

As for other countries, dunno.
