I really hope armor lock makes it into Halo 5.

pre-order at Auto Zone to get the Ground Pound Immediately Sends You Into Armor Lock and Then Promethean Vision While Also Turning You Invincible Perk while supplies last!

I have been toying with the idea of getting a kill immediately refills your thruster's charge up meter but I'm not sure yet. I want to reward good players but I'm not sure if that is the right way to do it.

I think refilling it on multikills and killing sprees would be a better idea. A recharge on a single kill strikes me as something that might make it too easy to escape danger in the event that you're fighting a team. Sprees / multikill recharges would at least encourage you to "pull twice your own weight" before being rewarded.

I hope Hologram makes it into Halo 5 even if it isn't an Armor Ability. My suggestion: turn the Spartan Laser into a Hologram Projector. Has the exact same ammo count, cooldown times, damage, etc. but at the end of the charge it blips and fizzles a Hologram into existence, which runs to the vector you assign. Bam. Adds an interesting map control weapon that isn't an outright power weapon, gets rid of a shitty power weapon that ended up having power creep way outside of its intended usage, and Rockets / Railgun / Plasma Launcher all take care of vehicles in ways Spartan Lasers never should. For bonus points, maybe allow it to "scan" a player by spotting them with the laser pointer for a designated amount of time, and then you can project a holo-clone. Then you could screw with people by having holograms holding objectives, power weapons, etc. running around.

Legendary Hologram Projector weapon equivalent is the Hardlight Holofoil, which has holograms violently explode into Hardlight Bees™ a second after they reach their intended vector or collide with a wall.
I've been an advocate of these types of weapons for a long time, but I hardly push them believing Halo fans aren't ready for nonshooting, nondamage-doing weapons in Halo's sandbox. Something like a Grappling Hook could work really well IMO if it had limited uses and obviously takes up one of your two weapon slots.

I really like your idea of a Hologram Projector and that bonus trait reminds me of that UZI from Perfect Dark Zero.

EDIT:
I legitimately want Promethean Vision as a power up. I think Pro Vis would fit nicely as a power up with some tweaks.
Careful now, I am literally the only person around here who believes this too. Everytime I bring up PV as a Power-up, several people try shutting it down because of how it was implemented in H4 ;'[

Grappling Hook is not sci fi enough for Halo. How about a Promethean weapon that can fire a projectile and whatever that projectile impacts, the player is immediately teleported to that location. It would be useful for getting you close enough to hijack a vehicle. Look we just made a new Soft Vehicle Counter!

I still wish Halo 2 Anniversary launch wasn't so fucked and that we had at least 10+ maps. Could have really taken the game further. It plays much better than Halo 4 in my eyes.
I'm still hoping they add at least 4 more maps to H2A multiplayer in the future.
I know it won't happen anytime soon but come on. The game deserves it I think. Add in popular Forge maps and you've got yourself a game with a healthy amount of content that will (for the most part) satisfy fans of that classic Halo style. Even when Halo 5 drops I know I'll be jumping back over to H2A on occasion (or even CE, 2, and 3).

The concept of a well timed activation destroying an impacting vehicle is not inherently bad for Halo. I would prob put that feature on a weapon though, not something the player spawns able to perform.
How do you feel about the idea of the Ground Pound destroying a Warthog on direct impact and in any other case, sending it flying? Tanks would only be damaged no matter where you hit them.

it was magical.
Thruster packs in a nutshell

Most of my friends thought it was just some useless evasion when Halo 4 launched and they thought I was dumb for using it. But ever since it was revealed, I realized I had seen true greatness. It's saved my ass countless times from proper timing. I'd say it's one of the greatest additions to Halo yet.

Scan a dead body to have a hologram tbag it

Ground Pound should be a secondary function of the Gravity Hammer, that can be activated while the user is airborne, and it should destroy anything it hits, including tanks. When you take something, like ground pound, out of base player traits and, instead, place it on a weapon that must be acquired from off the map, you can make it stronger since not everyone can do it and the person who can do it, earned it.

Might be OP, similar to what mancannons are to teleporters. However, perhaps as a secondary function? Primary is a tether like in Metroid Prime that can also WHIP people, obviously operating on energy to limit its use, but with a secondary that shoots an energy orb that you detonate to teleport yourself there.

..or just a Portal gun. Either way, a Grappling Hook is cool because it would allow you to carry momentum and do other shit while launching around. The gameplay scenarios for that would be insanely fun.

Deku nuts in Halo.

You could have a Grapplity Grenadelet that explodes a second or two after you tosses it and creates a brief physics impulse that only affects the user in a black hole-ish fashion, so it'd essentially be a tether grenade that could fling you around without all the required technical flashy stuff or possible graphical wonkiness associated with a promethean grapple beam or whatever.

But yeah, you make as good point about being able to do cool shit with the momentum gained from a grappling hook. Like manually disconnecting from it before you reach the point of impact to do a cool trick jump or something. Hmmm. Must think on this.

If I throw it behind a rock will I splatter myself?

The fate of Halo now rests on your opinions.

GreenSkull's opinion matters though

This is reminding me of that Telenade we discussed a couple days ago. If we're talking teleportation I think that's the way to go as opposed to a gun.

That would be a cool way to give the grav hammer more utility.
Though since it seems the Ground Pound as a SA isn't going to change, I wonder how they could give the Grav Hammer more of a role. I think the ability to send out a forward shockwave would be interesting. It would only take down shields but it'd be really useful against vehicles. Thoughts?

Uhhhhhhhhhhh, yes. Yes. And more yes. See how interesting Halo could be when we step away from the grounded-in-reality, militaristic approach?

    - where art thou?
  • FyreWulff's technical know-how, not for his opinions on the weapon sandbox (sorry but Halo 3 has the worst gameplay)
  • TheHenery to generate long posts and generate insane amounts of hype.
343, you know what to do. The rest of HaloGAF would serve as the official starting point for all discussions because we're all snowflakes and all of our opinions matter, even the ones where Munch Poke thinks perks are okay for Custom Games instead of having better customization in the game settings. And for those that didn't get mentioned, you're already considered for The High Council.
Really? I'm a third then.

lmao the fun is known

Do members of the High Council get their own nimbus clouds upon which to sit loftily?

New Destiny content must be out. Seems like a case of new release groupie syndrome.
;)

No idea what's going on with the game. None of my Halo crew play it anymore and I doubt they'll come back when it's fixed. I don't plan on playing this game by myself either. Makes me really REALLY sad.
I'll play with you.

...once I have a One.

What really sad is Ram was reassuring me a while back that if they fix the problems, why wouldn't Halo fans play as there really isn't anything else for a while. So you know it's bad when even Ram doesn't foresee playing the game much longer.

I'll probably stick with the game for the long haul. Just spent too much money to not touch it. But it's been really disappointing. A year of hype completely killed. Just want the crashes and uneven teams to be fixed and for ranks and other playlists back.

Literally no one on my friends list is playing Halo right now

I know Destiny DLC just came but (raid is actually really fun. And it works!). But wow

In light of the resounding successes of TO WAHLAXY and WAHCONCILED, and given the current paternal state of our beloved franchise, I thought it would be appropos to unveil WAHNOUGH DAD WAHROES, complete with new Steitzer announcements!*

I'll gladly play it every night when it's fixed, just tired of fighting it for now.

Someone in here recommended Stone Cal-Belgique. Tried it last night, pretty pretty pretty good.

Do we know if friend list spectating requires that you own the game to spectate? I would be really great to allow people who don't own the game to spectate, might generate more interest in the game.

Ya that was my suggestion, glad you liked it.

Every other game tonight has been me lagging dreadfully. Same thing I thought was standbying that I've mentioned but my buddy in my party was fine and said I was just running around the map every time I was lagging. Any idea what gives? Figured it was affecting everyone up until my friend said it was just me. Then the next game would be fine. So screwy

What Funknown? My Slippy floor grenade wasn't good enough for CE2?
We are the unrecognized thinkers.
In order for a team to be successful, those in the public eye must understand what it takes to have shit thrown at them for years, so that's why it primarily consists of those who have a deep understanding of CE gameplay. Another thing you must have are people who are smarter than you and can provide something you can't. Lastly, you need a league of assassins to accomplish whatever job that needs to be done, by any means necessary, away from scrutiny by the public.

man....i really like what you have done. honestly the texture looks fine. It's nice and clean. You incorporated the skybox in really intelligent ways as well.

Good job bro.

My only suggestion, and it's a minor one, is to maybe try and maintain some of the see-thru mesh that were on some of the ramps (i believe the ones that went up to sword). It gave the map an interesting flow in that area.

GT: Sir Fahzgoolin if you want me to test.

Suggestion noted, actually I wound up rebuilding all the ramps to make it work. Its like 95% complete with CTF and Assault working.

Check out the Pit and let me know if any changes should be made. Its pretty accurate. I used Halo 3 pit and H4 pitfall to test jumps, ceiling heights and all. The only jump that is a little off is the jump to the platforms leading to the camo spawn. Let me know what you guys think. I will post a YT link soon when complete with some gameplay if anyone wants to test.

So I start a game on Zenith and I'm 15-0 to start the game off and at the point my team is losing 18-35. Bad teammates are the worst thing in Halo.

I kinda wanna play BTB

But I can't tell if my game is still broken or the population is just too dead. Either way I'm not getting any matches after minutes of searching. Would be nice if they patched in a population counter

Someone please confirm that I'm not crazy: crouch-jumping in Halo CE is now super buggy, right? The screen shakes up and down violently while you're doing it.

lol.. I'm sure there are a few fans who would have appreciated a CE playlist over SWAT first, even if CE was 10x more broken than it is now.

Thanks 343.
