This is how I want to see it split.

Top 8 pay out
1st: 200k
2nd: 100k
3rd: 70k
4th: 50k
5th: 25k each(2 players finish 5th)
7th: 15k each(2 players finish 7th)

This news is bananas. Just when I started to think the FGC might be stagnating a bit, I've come to the realization that there's likely going to be an unprecedented injection of everything into the scene this coming year.

I'm seriously contemplating life right now.

A portion of the 500k might be split between tournaments involved in the Capcom Cup circuit

All it was ever going to take was a company investing in it. Didn't think it would be Sony, but it is a great option.

Isn't ultra debuting only on PS4 in Spring sometime? Not sure how long that deal lasts.

There are a lot of reasons why MOBAs are more profitable and it's not because they're free. It helps but it's not the only reason.

Anyway, 500k for next year's Capcom Cup is gonna be freaking awesome.

Microsoft should have been doing this. Grow a ravenous fanbase on your console for a few million. Imagine if they spent even 1 percent of that NFL deal on this...

I see... let's hope the PS4 version doesn't suffer from the input lag the PS3 version has.

Anyways if it definitely will be the PS4 version which becomes the tournament standard... Madcatz about to get MASSIVE amounts of money with people buying PS4 sticks.

None of this guaranteed money business.

All that will happen is ppl will keep entering all the qualifiers until they win one in a shallow talent pool area knowing they'll get $50k no matter what happens.

I think top 8 is good enough. You bust your ass to win a major tournament to get there and then have to win at least two games to finish in the money. I agree, I don't like the idea of anybody getting a guarantee 10-30k just for showing up. Make them work for it when they get there. But top 8 is fine with this kind of money.

Ono said We're gonna make Ultra Street Fighter 4 bigger and better next year (something along those lines?)

So maybe the PS4/PC versions gets a new update or something?

I'm with you, especially since top 8 being in the money will encourage more people to give it a go.

The main thing I would like to see fixed is less US bias in how people can qualify. Especially if you are going to have online stuff, there should be more opportunity for the rest of the world.

It's actually much smaller than you think. Being free means more people are willing to play but MOBAs are easier to monetize and easier for regular people to play. Even if you make SF free to play, It won't get the money or success MOBAs have
