Xenoblade Chronicles X: new info from Famitsu (map size, battle system, characters)

Do I look like your slave or something? Hmmmph...

Don't know which one will work better for you. If you want them in another position, let me know :)
I don't understand much about this stuff. But if in that first version you switch the logos, won't that make it better to see it?

So is this considered an action rpg?
The first one was not. There was even auto-attack and stuff. And apparently this is just the same but with more depth.

So I guess not...?

This sounds immense, and it sounds a whole lot like my dream sequel to Xenoblade Chronicles. I like everything about this new information.

Looks like I'll be an Avalanche, Testament or Corepedian, though if it's styled like western open-world games, I guess building a few characters is an option, too.

What? She's easily my most useful when going for the minibosses. I rarely play her myself though, as it's one of the only things the CPU can get right.
In terms of gameplay I found Melia to be more fun to heal with (in some situations I use both as Melia isn't a healer proper), but I never felt that sharla was useless, particularly with Heal Round + Chain Heal.

Regardless, the loss of healing usually means fights are less complicated to compensate, which is boring.

You'd be surprised! I'm sure others can go more in depth as to how but if you have your party set up decently enough, Shulk's Light Heal is often more than enough with Riki's You Can Do It also being good. I know that was how I took on all of the superbosses, and if you (MAJOR SPOILERS obviously) look up videos on Youtube, I think you'll find that most people don't use Sharla in the party at all. Her damage output is poor and battles turn into a battle of attrition where she just tries to outheal the damage being done while your other two party members struggle to do as much damage as possible. I find that battles are actually a lot more fun and involved without her because you're not falling back on that crutch of having your dedicated healer keep your HP up.

So no, I'm pretty sure the fights won't be less complicated considering the "hardest" battles in the first game are more than easily enough taken on with teams without a dedicated healer ;)

Though even after watching the Treehouse footage, I'm still not quite sure I understand how the Soul Voice works exactly but it's definitely one of the things I'm excited to dive into once I get the game in my hands.

I guess I could try some variations. This is my first time doing this on someone's avatar other than my own.

Takahashi recommends the digital version for those bothered by disk loading, but says they are working on improving the loading times on the disk version with Nintendo proper.
I'd take the eShop version just to be able to play (almost) the instant it's out...but the disk, man...the disk...
I think I'll bite the bullet this time and order the game with express shipping (hello, import taxes), so I don't have to wait 2 weeks between the release date and its arrival at my door.

Thanks for the tip. I missed out on The Last Story last gen due to a variety of reasons, some personal, some gaming related, I think it is time to remedy that situation.

It's right up there with Xenoblade. I'd be just as hyped for a (spiritual) sequel if they ever decided to make one as I am for XenobladeX right now.

Good to know.

I greatly enjoyed Xenoblade which is THE reason why I am looking forward to Xenoblade Chronicles X, it looks to be a massive upgrade in everything I enjoyed about Xenoblade.

I could be misremembering, but I thought Takahashi also mentioned at one point that X would have a heavier or more complex story than Xenoblade's.

hopefully this is true. Takahashis games definetely have a history of emphasis on story which is why I love his work. Xenogears, Xenosaga and Xenoblade are some of the best games I've ver played.

-About 90 songs in the game. Sawano involved in all of them.
-Xenoblade had 1 vocal song at the end, but XenobladeX has many vocal song. (Many for RPG)
:/

Everything else sounds awesome at least. As long the open-worldness doesn't negatively impact on the story and whatnot too much.

I really don't liek the fact that there are no healers.

I'm all for it since the computer a.i was pretty stupid in the first game and I ended up having to do all the healing myself. Sure, Sharla was my favorite character but it was still annoying.

I hope it is not 300 hr. of fetch quests like Xenoblade 1.

The extra hours in Xenoblade were organic, so I assume it'll be the same for Cross.

The extra hours will be "pointless" things like going back to that area that you're sure you saw that level 40 giant crab that you couldn't beat 10 hours ago but now you're gonna try your luck...

...and it'll be great.

Almost everything here sounds exciting. I'm not normally big on huge open world games, but being able to fly a giant mech around will surely make it worthwhile. As for length, I expect the main story to be about 60 hours for a normal playthrough, maybe 40 if you really rush it. Sidequests of course will bump that up 20-80 hours depending on a bunch of factors. Either way, this will surely keep me busy when I get around to it. Hopefully a decent amount of quests are somewhat interesting.

How the heck I'm supposed to play and finish a game that has 300 hours of content??? Bring it on!! Now I understand why this game has been delayed so many times. The wait will be oh so worth it!

Don't think you can say it's been delayed when it was never dated.

Man I am hyped!!!

I don't know why, but I the faction thing has me extremely excited. There is an old-school role playing element to that. Like, the notion of playing as a Testament or Arms is just super cool to me.

Size is disappointing it's not even half the size of the just cause 2 map which was pretty tiny.

Only way around it I see is if they artificially enhance the size by making traversal slow.
