Has there been any comments from NOA?

I would hope they are having talks about NOA about what to do. This was a big event for them to promote various games. Money already spent. As said in the other thread I'd be very surprised if legal action isn't taken. Not against APEX but the hotel, etc. Their people on site were/are in danger as well.

I genuinely want to cry and I'm not even attending the event.

I'm legit just so disappointed right now. I can't even fathom how bad the TOs and players must feel with something like this happening. At the same time, who in the fuck runs a hotel in such appalling condition in this day and age of instant connections and everyone playing the "name and shame" game? Never mind how fantastically unsafe this all is.

Feel bad for the smash community. The other communities are well represented at other tournaments, but this is the big smash tournament.

Okay, still trying to absorb this. Here's what I think:

-Cancel FGC tournaments. Sorry dudes, but this was never going to be a big FGC tournament. And Pokemon, lol.

-Cancel doubles for every game. Unfortunate, but a big time waster, holds up the singles bracket, and no one really cares about doubles.

-Cancel Brawl. Super low turnout and would probably just delay the Smash 4 singles tournament.

You're left with Smash 64 singles (which can also be cancelled if neccesary, but it's a very quick game and I don't think there's much overlap with other Smash games), and of course Smash 4 singles and Melee singles, the two most important events of the weekend by far.

Right now, they need to be running as many pools in as many hotel rooms as possible. As crazy as this sounds, it can be done. I'm not sure how many people are in each pool, but you can definitely get 2 setups in every room. When I went to Apex in 2012 some rooms had three setups going on. In the larger suite rooms, we had 5 or 6 setups and at least 40 people in the room.

It won't be easy, but this event can be saved. I believe in the community and the Apex staff.

Oh yeah.... Salty Suite is definitely postponed to another event :( The players and staff are gonna have to work overtime on this one.

Sounds like a logistics nightmare.

Why do you think everyone in the crowd always does the Rufus Ultra?

It's the only thing that works

LOL

Apex just tweeted out that no tournament sets are being run in rooms.

Either they miraculously switch venue, they get a ballroom for tomorrow or the event is done. :\

This was supposed to be a big Xrd tournament though. I'm fiending for Smash as much as the next guy but I was really looking forward to seeing that too. :(

- single elim
- reduced stock/time
- let pools run over the scheduled times for top 8

Although the big question is whether they can even move the equipment somewhere where they can use it.

I was really looking forward to the Pokemon tournament. Honestly, it might be the easiest one to still pull off since it doesn't need dedicated set ups like other games.

This is my main concern. Getting pools running in hotel rooms could work but with most of the set ups stuck where they can't use them makes it seem tough.

people were arguing for 3 stock Smash 4, now we're debating 1 stock

they can play out all the matches in the hotels easily, sure :p

they're not going to do single elim/reduced stock for the biggest smash tournament of all time unless it's absolutely necessary.

pools will definitely run late into the night. you can throw that current schedule into the garbage, obviously. entire bracket will be all day sunday, if we're lucky.

I can't imagine it'll be easy finding another venue with this short notice... moving the equipment is the least of my worries. That shouldn't be a problem as long as everyone can get their stuff.

ugh
