So, at least one thing off the Most Requested Features list. It's a start.

Suspend/Resume
Folders / Game Organization
Local Media Player
DLNA (or any other home network streaming)
Throphy Autosync
Friends Notification
Appear Offline
Change PSN ID

External HD

Half of this shit won't even be released 12 months from now.

I'd like to mark items in the playstation store to let me know when they go on sale. Like a watch list. For instance I'd like to buy Super Stardust on PS4 but not until it's on sale for like 9.99. It would be awesome if i could just tap options when i have it selected and add it to a watchlist.

You would be surprised how little many people care about DLNA, especially since:

1) Many people have another device that will do DLNA
2) A good amount of people have switched over to a superior system like PLEX

Last generation I was all over DNLA. This generation I have a Chromecast.

Pretty sure the External HDD rumor was backed up with a screen shot and the trophy thing was something the beta tester just noticed was happening.

Standard backup.

Suspend/resume mode, Remote play at 60FPS and Button remapping are the best features so far, i wish Sony dev teams were as quick as Xbox team for updates though..

Is their a way to be in the preview program like we do on the Xbox one ?

I really don't understand this argument at all, Microsoft push feature updates out on a more regular basis yes, but what difference does it make when they are all features Sony implemented 6 months ago?

You'd rather be playing catch up rather than getting brand new features every once in a while?

I think we see Local Media Player, DLNA, Freind Notification soon. Maybe before it around e3

I highly doubt they'll allow for the merging of accounts. They'll probably ask why you had multiple accounts in the first place.

The other account was basically my older "local" account, my current main account is a US account (it has been my main for a few years), I don't think I need to mention the benefits of using a US account.

The problem is that I have a lot of trophies in my old account, the lack of Uncharted & Dark Souls in my current account is driving the OCD in me crazy, I can live without the other trophies like Fallout, but not having UC & DS in my trophy list is unacceptable, especially since I've already earned them.

I kinda got over it after getting the PS4, but the remove 0% games feature made me want that feature more.

...I don't care about anything else except merging accounts.

If they did the "Merge Accounts" feature, that would take care of PSN ID name change also.

Just create a new account named "MatureAdultNow" and merge it with your old "xxSuperTurd69xx" account.

That's..... A really good idea, actually....

I don't think that's a "most requested list" at all. It's a "what xbox has" feature war list. I couldn't give a rats about png or even a local media player (Btw you can stream like DLNA for free from the plex website, only the plex app is subscription based on XB1/PS4). The actual most requested features are here

http://share.blog.us.playstation.com/ideas/popular/page/1/

And a bunch of them are in this update.

It'll probably be a $5 one-time fee when it's it off beta, I think that's what they charge for the Roku version. Is that still too much? Plex is free for both the server and PC client, and you can use the browser client on the PS4 for free too.
Edit: took too long replying, hate typing on phones, so you are okay with a fee

Plex on Roku was free last time I used it.

I'd be more excited about Plex (outside of the fee) if I could use it without rearranging my library.

Deleting zero percent completion is a good start, but let me delete anything. Remove it from my list and permanently remove all earned trophies from my records. There are too many games that give a trophy just for starting the game for deleting 0% completion to be a real solution. I have a bunch of trophies from games I played half an hour of and will likely never play again, cluttering my list with 1-2% completions.

Huh? The PS4 uses only 3 watts when in standby mode. That's about $3 a year. It's 8.5 watts if you enable USB-charging in standby mode, which I wouldn't recommend due to the micro-USB connector of the DS4s that allow you to use far more convenient and efficient chargers or charging stations.

You'd likely save money by keeping the PS4 in standby mode to download updates automatically at night in a temporary medium power state than to download updates while the console is fully powered on drawing far more power (along with the TV).

Interesting chart. But did the cartridge-based consoles had a standby mode? Or did they mean with the power mains plugged in?

They had those old school power transformer bricks, and those always draw power even if the system is off

SharePlay has same quality for everyone, no mater if they have PS+ or not. 720p is limit placed on video encoding module inside PS4 APU. Sony could raise that to 1080p if they wanted [maybe they don't have enough PS4 resources available for that]

Thank you for your response. I really enjoy the share play, it would be excellent to have higher quality but what is available now is really good.

So does this mean I can get an external harddrive to clear some space on my PS4?

No. It means you will be able to back up your entire file system on your PS4 so you can replace the internal hard drive without having to re-download everything

Yes, I really did. Plex is miles above DLNA. It handles anything I throw at it, subtitles and alternate audio are a breeze with it, and it's perfect for local AND internet viewing.

I wonder if these accessibilites options will fix the problems with Themes.

I want to meet the person at Sony who says, you know what would look great with this bright white background? SOLID WHITE ICONS! Even better, will put a white GLOW AROUND THEM.

I'm specifically talking about the bloodborne theme I just downloaded and the rectangle theme. Completely useless.

Only games that have 0% trophy completion? I guess it's a step in the right direction but let me do it regardless of how many trophies I've gotten in the game. I'm also salty about the 60fps remote play cause I live in an apartment and I've never gotten a good signal.

Other than that I'm really looking forward to the upgrade.

It's funny that this is added as some big task to add instead of how the f$ck is this not included since day 1.

I think it is taking so long because they are embarassed that they overlooked something so basic.

The 20th Anniversary theme is just as bad.

Remove 0% trophies is great too.

that to me its the best part of the update.

its just a shame that games with 5% or lets say 10% max cant be deleted.

what im really interessted in is also the sorting they talked about , here´s to hope we get organize the trophy list by console. that would be beyond amazing !!

Think a lot of folk are getting a bit mixed up here. DLNA is essentially a network protocol, ironically the one that most folk use when using Plex. Plex is a front ended media player which uses various media playback protocols for playing back media from different locations (local hdd, disk etc. as well as via your network using SMB, WFS and others, but also, again, DLNA).

DLNA isn't a media player.

I'm not disagreeing. I'm just saying that Plex's front end is a lot better than generic DLNA front end that's built into a lot of devices.

It's that fancy front-end and the requirements to get it to work that keep me from using Plex. Maybe it has improved over the years but I'm not rearranging/renaming every little thing to get things to be recognized when the folder interface on the PS3 works with no effort necessary.

Plex has very little setup to make work. And the fancy front end has an option to view by folder structure.

I just ran out of space on my ps4. Need external HDD support ASAP.

Just replace the internal HDD. Same thing, really.

Indeed. Plex may have some advantages but it is not superior to a DLNA option a la PS3.

what? Plex itself is 100x better than basic DLNA. Sure, Plex has an option of being DLNA server but hopefully nobody uses that but rather Plex media player

Thats not even something we can argue about, it is a fact... only problem is that it requires Plex pass right now, thats it.

What do you feel is better about DLNA on the PS3 than Plex?

I guess it depends on where and how your info is stored. But I have not had an easy time setting up Plex server to recognize my media on the PC I have it on and the network drive attached to my router. Also, sometimes I share from the laptop as a one off thing and with the PS3 I can pick up all the various sources easily.

It's certainly not as pretty as having a Plex frontend player, but it works, even with its occasional wonkiness. Maybe I just need to spend more time to get it going.

Not if you view via the web browser. Just go to www.plex.tv in your PS4 web browser, log in, and BOOM! That's it.

We already have trophy auto sync (if you have PS+)...now if your asking for immediate autosync the moment you unlock a trophy I doubt that will ever happen.

trophy autosync shouldn't be too hard. and it doesn't necessarily have to sync right away. just hide it from the user, like the way 360 has been doing it for almost 10 years. why does it have to be an intrusive process on PS4?

I'll preface this by saying I haven't used Plex in a couple years, so maybe things have changed:

Back then when Plex scanned your library, it would look at the folder structure and filenames and go to a TV/Movie DB to pull down metadata for fancy covers and episode descriptions. Which is all fine and dandy, but if it wasn't able to find a match on the DB for a particular file, that file would not be listed when you were browsing your library. Even in the folder view. Not to mention all the things it labeled incorrectly.

At the time, multi-season shows had to be given specific names, put in folders a specific way, the folders had to be named a specific way, it was a hassle. Alternatively, the folder browser on the PS3 "just worked", and I didn't care about it looking pretty. The point is to stream content, not look at pretty menus.

0% trophies removable is ALL I ever wanted from an update....Don't care about any of the other features people are asking for. and I would flat out hate folders coming back...so backwards
