Daredevil: You can Win if you Dare

Anyway, I really hope this turns out well! I'm pretty hyped but also sorta keeping it in check based on Marvel's TV track record being "good/decent" but not "great."

I want this TV show to blow me away, unlike Arrow, Agents of Shield and Flash, which are all fantastic but I expect Daredevil to take superhero TV shows to a new level.

That tweet has me worried, although someone else who had seen the first 4 episodes said it was great. Of course that impression were not of the whole season though.

is it possible that tweet was an early April fools joke?

I don't think so.

Initial impressions were:

Marvel’s Daredevil

April 10, Netflix

I know it’s still early in the year, but I’m calling it now: The most beautifully choreographed fight scenes of 2015 will be on Netflix, courtesy of Marvel’s Daredevil. We’ve seen the first four episodes, and this show is like no other comic book adaption on the small screen yet. The beauty of Netflix is the freedom it allows—Daredevil gets as dark as the source material requires. It’s so dark, it’s almost a better Batman show than Gotham, and that show actually has Batman in it. If nothing else, Daredevil will rule the comic book TV landscape for years to come.

On phone and lazy so I can't be bothered to go back and get the link. Copy and paste into google if you want the source.

I like the idea of Loeb roaming the halls of Marvel like their own BIll Lumbergh, casually strolling by, ducking into offices, sitting down, and sucking the life out of everything.

Haha, I don't believe it for a second. I'd read great buzz on it up until this.

And on the side of skepticism: what buzz? As far as I know, literally no one outside Marvel or the production, with the sole exception of the one Observer.com guy, has publicly commented on the episodes previewed for critics. I'm not even sure those episodes *have* been screened yet, actually.

Title should be "We Are Happy To Serve You" for true Bendis/Maleev deep cut headz only.

Iunno, tho, no trailer has really made me psyched, and after what Waid etc have done with visualizing his powers, the blur/rack focus approach in the trailers is a step way down. I'd be curious to see all the test footage they've done of different ways to visualize his powers.

I haven't seen all the Netflix original programming, but I enjoyed all of the ones I've seen so far.

Arrested Development Season 4
Derek
Bojack Horseman
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

All of Netflix's shows range from being immensely disappointing to boring to dogshit save for the first season of house of cards. Still interested in this one though.

Could just be Devin being Devin. He's far too strongly opinionated for me to take any isolated thing he says or has "heard" as evidence that I will or will not like a given thing.

That is true. I love his writing, but he can be very dismissive of things that most of his audience would find good. And a jerk in general sometimes.
