I legit laughed when someone pointed it out.

Just went and checked the site... I loved the little message left

Surprised that Harmonix didn't have a internal copy of them...

Has in game been shown off? I really like the other games graphical styles so I can only imagine this will also be great.

Problem is all my RockBand DLC (so much) is tied to my XBL account, and I have a PS4... :(

I'm so hyped for the info, I wonder if they will talk about just gameplay or also about any sort of career mode. I really hope they have a full blown up World Tour mode, I'd love some sort of sim management game or RPG mixed in but I'm just wishful thinking :)

Bruce Springsteen is 65 years old. Two key members of his E Street Band have passed away in the last seven years. In fact, for a decade-long period that covered most of the 1990s, Springsteen and his band broke up, and The Boss spent most of the Clinton years not doing much of anything, musically.

The point is, Springsteen was gone. Not forgotten, but gone. And then one day, he came back (2002’s The Rising album), and everything was both familiar and comfortable again, but also brand-new.

Kind of like Rock Band.
ugh

Not only will the vocal harmonies added in The Beatles: Rock Band return, but a dedicated group of the Rock Band fan community have gone back and authored harmonies for every previous song and handed it over to Harmonix. For free.

Well, I guess that secret's out.

Oh man, that's awesome, does this mean RBHP is ending, or will it continue for 3 too?

They'll probably let you disable it like you could in RB3.

Gonna save judgement, but coming as a actual drummer, I kinda loved the drum fill system, I feel like this is kinda taking away my "creativity" that the game is pushing for, but lets see how it plays out

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
Well, I guess that secret's out.

Whoa--that's huge.

Also, does this mean Beatles: Rock Band can be imported, or is it just talking about the type of vocal harmonies being in the game?

I love the way the note highway looks. Glad to hear harmonies are back too.

Can't wait until the 15th, hope we see the first few songs revealed to get hype.

As of this exact moment, I expect no changes for current RBHP. We're close to the "end", anyway. :)

Ah that's great, while I'm planning on upgrading to RB4 for solo play, i'll probably keep the 360 and RB3 for parties due to the great custom scene

Rock Band 4 will also give expert game singers a new way to test their skills and express their vocal creativity: freeform melodies. “For hard and expert players, there was this premium on just hitting that exact pitch that was authored into the songs,” LoPiccolo said. “And what we discovered was that a lot of really good singers were constrained by that; they couldn’t have the kind of fun – the expressive fun – that they wanted to have as singers. So, we’ve added a feature now where as long as you’re singing in tune, you can kind of color outside the lines. You don’t have to stick with the prescribed part; you can make up your own harmonies on the fly, and as long as you sing them in tune, the game will give you credit for it. It’s a little bit hard to describe, but to actually do it, it’s incredibly liberating and fun. It’s a whole new way for singers to be creative with Rock Band.”

This makes me so incredibly happy. Like, I cheered in my office and people looked at me funny. It's been my singular complaint as a vocalist since the beginning of Rock Band.

Also in the video with Ryan and Mitch, Ryan confirms that RB 4 will have a song from a band they've never had. Let the speculation begin.

I'm sad that my 360 -> PS4 switch means that I'm not going to be able to transfer my ~$300 worth of DLC (I was obsessed), but still pumped for this.

I think I have more than $300 worth... and every time I see an article on Rock Band 4 I get stabbing pains in my chest knowing none of it will transfer to my PS4.

But my X360 still works, so I guess I'll survive.

Eh, just because it's a band they've never had doesn't mean it will have a huge amount of clout.

Then again, I can see Van Halen or one of the other various exclusive artists Guitar Hero had. Those contracts are probably long expired.

At the same time, if this wasn't something huge, I can't see them hyping it, I'm sure Rock Band 4 will have plenty of artists that haven't been in the series before on disc. A lot of new acts have came in the last few years

He said it was a huge band he never expected. Van Halen is a good guess. Could it please be Led Zeppelin? Or Pink Floyd? I can always dream.

I'm hyped, but still have my concerns regarding the songs. I have a gut feeling they're going to move away from anything heavy metal and go with the more mainstream rock of today, Fall Out Boy for example.

Hopefully there will be a good mix of songs in there, but even if not I suppose as long as I'm able to export all the tracks from the previous games and the DLC I bought there will still be plenty to re-rock out to.

As long as it isn't a GH: Live tier setlist we should be okay. Even Rock Band 3, while more pop oriented, had a good selection of classics and metal.

No Guitar Hero is going for that mainstream rock audience. Especially Skrillex.

Someone in the other thread is guessing Bruce Springsteen. This is the second time IGN has referenced him in a RB4 article so that could very well be a thing.

Van Halen would be a good guess. The reason they went with You Really Got Me Now in GH2 is that they really, really, really wanted a Van Halen song, but they couldn't get anything cleared for the permission to cover one of their original songs (this was back when Dave and the Van Halens were at each others throats), so they did the next best thing and covered a song that they wouldn't need to get their permission to use.

Wow, so HMX totally knew about C3 huh. That's awesome they actually used them to help out with the game instead of just coming down on them. That is the best way to handle it, and makes me even more excited for RB4.

So pumped for this!! Unfortunately as a PS4 owner I have to buy an Xbox One because I have over 800 songs on X360. Oh well, more than worth the investment!

Cool info on the harmonies and tweaks to the drum fill and vocal gameplay. I am most excited about the Singleplayer being referred to as a "Rockband RPG". I loved the World Tour mode in RB2 and would love for them to return to something like that.

HOLY SHIT, now that's fucking amazing.

Also creating your own harmonies is fucking cool as well, although you kind of already did that before with singing in a different octave, but color me intrigued.

Also huge story mode and career.........gosh feed me this game now, I want it so bbaaaddd.

I'm in the exact same camp. Played on 360 with nearly 1000 songs but I'm a PS4 owner now. Will buy an Xbox One the day RB4 comes out.

X-Post:

Liking the news so far. REALLY curious about the campaign now. I was afraid they might be downplaying that whole aspect. Gives me hope that a decent amount of character customization will return.

I can't believe Harmonix got help from C3. That blows my mind. It is proof that Harmonix really has been in it for the fans and they want to give them the most content they can provide.

RB RPG has me so excited.

!!!!

Well, that is amazing.

Rock band 3 was less of a 5-button guitar simulator at the end and more of a party karaoke machine.

Also, we can finally see the backing vocal track for "gimmie shelter", aka, the vocal part that you can actually hear. :)
