I really really wish Steam wold find a way to do preloads without requiring twice the hard drive space.

I have 35gb free on my SSD, however hte way pre loads work you need 2x the space (so you will need over 50+ gb free to "unlock" the preload once it's live).

At least find a way to allow people to pre-load to one HD and then "unpack" it to another would work too.

So now I just have to wait until the game is live and then download it instead since I don't have the room for it all.
Actually you can preload the game on HDD. After you finished unpacking it you can move it to the SSD. Thats what i did with GTA V on Steam. My SSD is only 120gb so there was no other way to preload it.

Where can i find the cheapest gog version (i live in Middle east so i want to avoid the censored edition).

GOG itself if you already own W1 and W2, you'll get a discount, or Greenmangaming using their voucher. Got stuck with the Steam version here in Lebanon but I'm going to try switching some files to see if that gets rid of the censorship.

Hmmm I freed up 75GB on my SSD and it only takes 25, cool. Steam preload goes nice and fast too.

Hype intensifying.

Yeah it's super stupid especially when the game files are already out decrypted on other platforms through preload (see Witcher 3 or GTAV). Doesn't make any sense anti-"piracy" wise.

26GB? I can do that. If the owning-both-games discount remains after launch I'll still get it digital. If not, physical, since that comes with a GOG key anyway.

Shit I'll actually be able to shimmy this onto my SSD.

PSA: if you're one of the people that have the painfully slow download speed on GOG galaxy (like me) don't stop the download and start again thinking you'll get a better speed, cause it won't work and you'll back at 0% :_:

Correct, you also can't pause the download with the Beta. I'm gonna fire it up before I go to bed and hope it will be finished before I leave for work.
If Galaxy can mantain my max speed, it should take about 7 hours =)

You can exit the Galaxy client, the download will continue when you start it again.

it sucks but you can download to a separate drive, and let it unlock then move it back to the ssd

That's.. kinda exactly what's not working for me (and Shy apparently).
But it's still in beta, so perhaps it's simply not working everytime?

For example, the download just says failed. When I try to 'validate' the files, an empty note pops up in the upper right corner of the client and nothing else happens.

How do i use the old one? I also had the 0.1 problem but i can only download the files separately through chrome.

Go here: https://www.gog.com/downloader

Download that and install it (and log into it), then visit the GOG site and go to your game page and using the drop down that says "more" (beside the GOG galaxy download button) on TW3 select "GOG download links" and click the installer one at the top - you should get a popup asking is it OK to run this blah blah blah - it will then open the GOG downloader and start to download it.

I tried it with 2 other games and it works for me, strange. Did you exit the client while it was still downloading?

GoG Galaxy is soooooo slooowww. Damn.

I just downloaded directly from the site (The 7 parts) and I was installing 20 minutes later.

Noo, I have to wait until my Amazon order ships and I can punch in my PC code from that. I feel weird ordering a physical copy but hey, it was $35CDN.

I suppose I could also install from disc but that seems so archaic.

Did the thing, but it only downloads the installer and then nothing else happens. Do i start the installer manually? I cant even find it in the folder its supposed to be in.

Thanks for this, went from 100KB/s to almost 9MB/s.
My speeds are still all over the place at the moment, but at least it's much better than before.

Yeah, you need run installer manually if you didn't set it to do automatically. Click settings and you get view similar to this;

"Save download to:" is where installer is located.

Does anyone have a list of pre-order bonuses for each outlet? Not sure whether to pre-order at bestbuy, gamestop, etc.

What pre-order bonuses?

Do preloads normally happen this far before game release? I was kind of surprised to see the Steam preload working in the United States, and then I checked and saw the game isn't out until the 19th, 8 days later.

Are there seriously none? I know gamestop has some goofy keychain. I was wondering if the other outlets offered something else.

As far I know there isn't anything worth mentioning.

Like you said some keychain, GOG has 4 extra tracks for OST and PSN gives you PS4 desktop theme. Other than that all physical copies have same goodies in them and none of the stores provide any in-game stuff.

That is GOG clients for you. Some get full throttle and some get dead horse to race with.

It's not specific to GOG in particular.

Many digital retailers rent their servers from Akamai (Steam, eShop) or similar companies, which actually have several bases all over the world. Some are more crowded, some are... less.

Galaxy gave me 0.1 MB/s down and now old downloader is giving me 1 MB/s down [throttled it to that]. One assumes they connect to same data servers in my region [Finland/EU], but maybe Galaxy uses some other servers that are over the capacity then.

huh, i did it but the folder is completely empty. Weird :/ Guess i'll wait a few days and see if it works then.

Originally TW3 was listed as having Nvidia Gameworks Post Processing. It isn't listed as such anymore.

Maybe that is just fallout of them no longer having a nvidia sponsored utlra for PP. (patch maybe? doubt it).

Psh. Gotta turn this up to 6 gigs or so.

Gonna be interesting fiddling with all these values. Especially scaling and LOD

sado

Y'know, things break...

Strange. At least on my end downloading through the Galaxy client has been great so far. Usually have problems with PSN and Xbox Live but so far so good. Haven't had a chance to try the downloader as an alternative yet.
