Going to buy tickets tonight for a showing tomorrow night. My body is ready, I just we didn't have to wait until September to play the game.

I think my favorite part about this movie is how I've literally never seen anything quite like it in my entire life, and I don't know if I ever will again.

2 other movies are written and ready to go!! Whether or not we'll see them though....

...fuck, we better!

If we do, I'd want them to be completely separate stories. I like the idea of Max as our window to a world where different themes can be explored without tying them to a larger narrative.

Everytime I come to this thread and read stuff like this my hype reaches new immeasurable levels. I need to see this movie right now.

Yeah I'd love to see more and different parts of the wasteland but I'd be more happy to see
Theron's Furiosa return and well, she will since the second one is titled FURIOSA.

From all who have watched, is it true that Charlize Theron has a bigger role than Tom Hardy in the film?
She drives the action. Max is the guy who wanders into her conflict.
He makes some major decisions and gets the best action moments though.

She's the main character of the story because she's an active part of the region for this story. Max is the main protagonist because he is the audience's eyes into this region. He stumbles into the story and becomes a part of it.

Friend of mine is reviewing this for the Washington Post - she told me to see it in 3D.

As in, don't miss the 3D. First time she's ever recommended it.

Fantastic movie. A detail that I really liked was
Hardy abandoning Theron and the girls at first, but being forced to cooperate due to her complicated hot-wiring setup requiring her to be present in the truck for it to drive.
The main characters don't speak many words to each other, but little touches in the script like that and great wordless acting lead to a surprising amount of character development in the end.

I don't go to theaters often, my last visit to there being going to see Gravity - but this one was a really pleasant experience. Insanely good action movie, no padding and a real visual treat. I try to avoid 3D whenever I can, but here I didn't find it intrusive at all (
that bit with guitar and wheel flying towards the viewer excluded
).

I'll definitely pick this up on Blu-ray.

For me, she was the real star of the film. If you are worried about that, don't be. She is amazing in it.

Thanks for the info everyone!

Just stepped out of the theater.

Wow. I mean... wooow...

Tempted to buy a ticket for a 2D screening tomorrow (Saw it in non Imax 3D) because holy shit. I'm still trying to collect myself here.

No it's not sadly and not on the OST either.

I like the track myself too so I'm wondering it came from.

I've discovered that it is apparently a cover of the Radiohead song Street Spirit by the group Superhuman, per their Facebook page here. Note that the original song sounds VASTLY different to the cover, and the cover isn't publicly available, though there's a chance Superhuman may post it on their Facebook page as it looks like they've done so with other tracks used in trailers.

It really does drill the shit out of you, doesn't it? It took me a long walk home to compress and take everything in.

Trying to see this tonight. Can't wait till Friday.

If it's successful and has sequels, I wonder if Mel might show up in a cameo or something? I mean, it sounds like he was down for the first iteration of it.

I have to wait til the 22nd to see this, but the flip side is that I get to see it with my bros. That makes up for the wait.

Really fun and weird film. Tom Hardy seemed to be channeling Buster Keaton for much of the film, which took me by surprise but it worked. Ultimately I don't see it reaching 'blockbuster' status though and it will be remembered more as a curiosity rather than a game changer.

Might as well ask, since people are starting to see it: Any reason to stay through the credits?

Had fun looking at all the practical stunt roles... then when it came to digital effects... like 1 paragraph of names.

Nothing at the end of the credits though

Edit: And yeah, you might find yourself sitting in your seat needing a minute to remember how to move ;)

100+ reviews now and still at 99%. Gods be good.

Decided to dive down that rabbit hole:

The Social Network 96%
275 fresh, 11 rotten, 9/10 average. Top Critics 50 fresh, 0 rotten, 9.4/10 average

So, looking at the last five years, Mad Max: Fury Road appears to be the 4th most critically acclaimed wide-release film according to Rotten Tomatoes, behind Boyhood, A Separation, and The Social Network.

Of course, there's still probably about 100 some reviews that will come in afterwards that's going to bring that score down when the rest of the peanut gallery starts to turn in their reviews.

Man, the hype is killing me over here! I have to wait until Saturday to see this. My wife won't let me see it without her so we're going to catch an early showing Saturday morning. We're both pumped.

I wonder how many of them saw all the good reviews and are gonna write a bad one just to get some clicks.

From early reports, it seems like you'll be too amazed to move. This syndrome was also reported with the TLOR films and first viewings of Platoon/Apocalypse Now.

Had fun looking at all the practical stunt roles... then when it came to digital effects... like 1 paragraph of names.

Hahaha, thanks guys.
