I know that. Sony has arguably the strongest stable of 1st party studios. But it still doesn't change the fact that we aren't going to get a big game revealed for the first time 6 months or less before it releases.

LittleBigPlanet 3?

I wonder if Wattam's ready to show.

I'd be happy if Keita Takahashi just shows up on stage with a new utensil though.

That was the best part about PSX, poor Keita was probably nervous as fuck. I would like a short trailer for Wattam.

sony attends 4 big conferences. i really don't know why people put so much focus on e3. if sony ever focuses on a single conference their show would run for 6 hours.

i take what playstation shows during that span of 4 months and look at their content. when you look at what playstation showed last year at e3, gamescom, tgs, and psx, it's not even a contest because of how much games they tried to shove to us. other pubs only have 1 the whole year. ea, ubi, xbox, etc. only showcase once a year (yes, xbox doesn't really show much at gamescom, last year was an exception. before that it was basically non-existent).

i also feel like we'll get nicer reveals on psx. sf5 and uc4, for example (had sf5 not leaked).

I don't disagree with what you said. I also think PSX is the show to watch now for Sony. My response was purely for E3, not a comment on the length or amount of content for all their conferences for the entire year.

Definitely hoping to go to PSX this year! I think that'll be about the right time for the big surprise(s). I really hope they limit E3 to an hour or less.

I'd really like that and I could see it happening if there was a few more months between the Konami implosion and E3. TGS maybe? But I guess at that point they would just go for a standard press release.

Sony went and announced Agent, and all they had to show for it was a logo. I am sure they can find someway to bring Kojima on stage for new things.

It won't be hyperbole to say that would be the biggest news of the entire E3 week.

for the love of god do not make this 2 hours. also hopefully they learned how to properly pace a conference this time.

I don't have a problem with the pacing or the length, but say they learned how to "properly pace a conference"; Why would the conference being 2 hours long be a problem if it is paced well?

You see I think it makes all the sense in this world. It happens all the time, the time of events is modified so it's more convenient for a wider audience, from F1 at night in Asia to La Liga games at noon so China can watch them.

Most of Asia amounts to peanuts for pretty much every developer/publisher at this point (unless you are on mobile or 3DS). Sony could move their conference, but where and when would they move it to where it wouldn't affect another conference or time zone? If there's no way to appease everyone in every time zone that wants to watch a thing, then maybe we should just go with the following:

Confirmed: Sony/Microsoft/Ubisoft/Square Enix/Nintendo/EA/Bethesda/Everyone hates your time zone. Yes, even yours.

if it's a solid 2 hours of awesome, then I'm all for it. but last year's conference and psx were both quite long and quite boring, so hopefully they can turn it around this year.

Who cares about the song and dance. I just want games, pace them however you like.

they had games last year, but the boring middle part swallowed up all my hype by the time the games came out near the end. that shouldn't happen again.

2am Scottish time. Yes! At least I know I'll definitely not miss it due to work! Probably book the following day off of though, get drunk and hopefully something hype satiating happens!

I remember $399 (£350 UK) was a thing of glory, plus seeing the PS4 console, plus hearing about no restrictions. That was a wonderful night. Probably the best entertainment I had that year haha.

Will be way too early for a Morpheus price, but hopefully they make enough noise to show us it really is coming next year (or sooner) and I just want some cool announcements.

Edit: Oh yeah hopefully there's no BS about TV shows and getting some movie guy up on stage to talk drivel for 5 minutes. Hope it is on point.

There's a shit load of games already revealed that seem to be in stasis: Until Dawn, RIME, Shadow of the Beast, wILD, The Witness, even No Man's Sky - just some update/release date on some of these would be welcome.

Little Big Planet 3.

And GT6 (May 2014 -> December 2014) :)
(technically Bloodborne also was supposed to be revealed at E3 in June 2014, for a mid February 2015 original date)

I'm sure there are other example too, point being that it simply isn't true that every 1st/ 2nd party AAA has got to have at least 10months to a year between the announcement and its release.

Will probably book a few days off work for E3. Inevitably I will end up feeling deflated in the end but hype trains are more about the ride than the destination, right? I don't even play many games any more...

The Europeans here bitching about the time is cute.

What's worse is we knew it was going to happen like every year. I am also unlucky with the 2am time. I booked the Tuesday off over a month ago knowing this.

The sun will be coming up when the conference finishes.

Fact? According to who? Why not?

Ok I shouldn't have used that wording. But you don't think it's highly HIGHLY unlikely that a big game isn't going to see it's first reveal to the world only 6 short months from it's release? I mean some games go gold by like 6 months out.

I mean it's not even like we've gotten a leak about this supposed big secret holiday release.

Can you name some of the big games that were announced 6 months from release date for the very first time?

Oh dang, another late nighter. Staying up to two in the morning kinda makes it feel more epic in a way though, I'll have to admit.

I won't ask for much, all I want to see is The Last Guardian, Shenmue HD/3, Gravity Rush 2 and Ni no Kuni 2. If they show/announce those games, then I might give their conference a thumbs up.

Obligatory picture of this gen's best video game protagonist to drum up the GR hype...

Oh man I hope we get a Gravity Rush 2, while they are at it port GR1 to PS4 so people who missed a really good game don't go straight into GR2 without a clue.

You have to wait a bit longer.

That's the worst part about it.
The sun is already up and you usually follow up some material and discussions on GAF..so I'll usually stay up even longer...

Since when is 6 months not enough time to announce a game before it is released? The Witcher only went gold a month ago, and Bloodborne went gold only 12 days before its release, so I don't see your point on that matter. I don't what basis you're making your assumptions on.

Can you name some of the big games that were announced 6 months from release date for the very first time?

Far Cry 4, Pokemon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire, Super Mario 3D World, LoZ: Link Between Worlds.
