Xenoblade Chronicles (Wii) now available on European Wii U eShop

Fuuuuuck, I always assumed that Nintendo would never do this after making the 3DS version. Pretty much the whole reason I bought a New 3DS in the first place, and I imagine it'll be the only New-3DS-exclusive game I ever play.

What's the story with the PAL Wii version, anyway? Does it have a 480p/60Hz mode, or is it only 576/50Hz? I'd much rather play this game on the Gamepad than my teeny 3DS screen, and I could probably handle starting over.

Sweet i was waiting For this, though can disc Version be played with the gamepad or that's only For VC Version?

I already have this on Wii/3DS, I don't need to buy it again!

...yeah, there's not way I'm not. Damnit, Nintendo! It'd be wonderful not to have to use the old uncomfortable classic controller plugged into Wii-mote set-up. Newer classic controller/gamepad support would be fantastic.

It does support the Wii U Gamepad! Read the posts above yours.

Edit: I'm torn between using the Wiimote or the Wii U gamepad. Thing is, I actually like motion gaming. So, if I use the Wiimote, does the game have parts where you have to move the controller?
If so, I'm playing it with the Wiimote.

Wait, is the PAL version is at 50Hz!? No purchase if this is true and then if this is the PAL version.

Man, I hope NA gets it.

It feels like they've really dropped the ball with the downloadable Wii games. Three out the gate and then Kirby months later. Where's the games with Wii U sequels like Donkey Kong and Pikmin? Where's the Zelda games? Really annoying when it seemingly takes so little effort on their part.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
Glad I didn't get the n3DS version ... This will be awesome with off-tv play.

Damnit, I missed that. Thank you! Being able to off-screen play this will be amazing. (I know that's what the 3DS version is for, but it'll be nice to dig back into my old Xenoblade save.)

That's odd. All mine are on external HDD and I have no issues. Could you elaborate?

When Metroid Prime Trilogy launched some people were unable to get it to boot from their external HDD. Would just kick them back to the menu. Might have been other games too, but MPT was the one I remembered.

European Xenoblade Chronicles is 60hz when played on European hardware that supports 60hz. If your Wii (and now vWii) is set to 60hz, you get a 30fps Xenoblade. It was only Dolphin that played EU copies at 25fps.

Dolphin may run the PAL version at 50fps though but that might be dolphin being dolphin (some other games act the same). I've not got the eyes to test on a TV.

Wow. What the hell. I hope this is the NA version.
Thankfully, kuroneko0509 seem to be mistaken.

The US version is literally the PAL version with the region header changed. It running on an NTSC system means it does 480 only. They didn't even bother to edit the banner or title screen to reflect the new logo they made

Ah OK. So no first week discount this time. Still, in my country it's impossible to find Nintendo products that are older so this is a perfect method of me playing this at a good price.

They only had first week discount for the first three titles. They haven't had it for any subsequent titles.

I'd get it if I could port over my save file from my disc but oh well, glad it's there so more people can experience it.

Wii games downloaded from the Wii U eShop use the same save files as their disc-based counterparts. If you transferred your original save from Wii to your Wii U (or played it on Wii U at all) the digital copy will pick up your save just fine.

Doesn't work to copy the save on SD card? I haven't tried that with the Wii VC games, but why shouldn't it work?

Edit: yeah, if the disc save is on your vWii then it should be able to read it directly.

I knew that the 50hz info must have been wrong (from my play-through the disc version), but doing a quick search didn't help me too much with that. Thanks for the confirmation.

The PAL version supports both 50 Hz and 60 Hz on a Wii, I'm pretty sure. Maybe kuroneko is confused because there's a glitch in Dolphin that causes the EU version to run at 50 Hz / 25 fps.

Edit: Beaten several times.

Holy moly, can we use the gamepad or WiiU pro controller?! I got this on 3DS thinking it'd never arrive on the WiiU with the goal of finally getting into it...and still didn't.

Are you sure? People mentioned this multiple times in Xenoblade threads but they were always corrected that it was just a Dolphin bug and that the disc version ran fine; 60Hz, 30 fps.
I don't think that is true. Most Wii physical games had 50/60hz support.

It does say 50/60 on the right of the cover...
The only games I recall being 50hz only were MadWorld and Super Mario All-Stars.
oh ok my bad.... my copy isn't with me so i tend to forget stuff

There are no motion control parts at all. Feel free to use the gamepad / Classic Controller. I personally preferred the Mote/ Nunchuk combo for selecting skills while at the same moving my character around, camera control was no big hindrance. You may want to test both controller schemes first and find out, what you prefer.

This is awesome news! :D

I finished it recently on the 3DS but really want to try it on the Gamepad if it does support using it like a Classic Controller.

EDIT: From the previous comments, it does support it.

That's awesome, thanks for that. Sorry if I caused any alarm; the only Wii games I've played on my Wii U recently (Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword) both seemed to be 50Hz with no option to switch, and my TV doesn't like a 50Hz signal so I had to ask.

There is no first week discount, but there is a discount for Xenoblade X if you buy this in the next two weeks.

Nintendo twitter said:
For 2 weeks from launch you can get €10 off #Xenoblade Chronicles X on Wii U eShop if you buy Xenoblade Chronicles on the same Wii U

Do you have to use the wii circle pad pro to play the game?

You can play it with the Gamepad or Wii U Pro controller (edit: was thinking about VC in general, but Wii VC does not support the Pro Controller).

Well if there was ever a game I'd buy three times within the span of 4 years it'd probably be this one. Anything that gets the game into the hands of more people can only be a good thing!

Thank you, I'll test them both!

Now I just need confirmation that the dual audio (EN/JP) is intact and this will be perfect!
I'm gonna buy it anyway, though! :)

Good deal! The 3DS version is on my birthday list. Should I remove it and just go for this or would 3DS be a better experience? I haven't played the game before.

The 3ds version is a downgraded version of the Wii one (and runs worse). Unless you want to play it on the run, this version is better.

If only I could download this for my Wii

Time to think about the beauty on the right:

Well if you have a Wii U this is a much cheaper deal. Plus playing it on a big screen is a big advantage (it's not a looker technical-wise, but its art direction is superb).

But New 3DS version offers portability in case you want to play on the go and in spurts.

Thanks both! Sold on the Wii version!
