NA PSN Sale - Capcom DMC and Square Enix Sale :D

Is it wrong of me to complain that there has been too many sales recently? I believe it's an immutable law of the universe that the cheaper the things get, the more money I end up spending!!

Nope, I am the same way and I love it

Dat impulse purchase

Threads of Fate may not be on sale, but get it anyway! It's amazing and OST is god-tier!! From back when Squaresoft was good!!! And it's only $6!!!! You won't regret it!!!!!

You know, if I can polish off one JRPG or two normal games over the week then I'll buy it full price. I'm just finding it hard to justify impulse spending on a game when I have so many to finish already heh.

Also seriously not seeing another hype from Front Mission 3 ITT. For $3 you'd be crazy not to pick it up. A DEEP MECH BASED SRPG FROM GOLDEN ERA SQUAE. Get in there.

I mean...ten bucks is still a really good price for a game like Xenogears.

I like these sales but I don't like what's been happening to peoples' perception of value for video games.

It's more a question of time and priorities. I don't have time to play the game right now. If it were on sale, I'd buy it now for whenever I get around to it, because I know I want to play it eventually. As it is, why should I buy it today rather than some other day?

I picked up FFT WotL, front mission 3, Tactics Ogre, and Parasite Eve.

FFT seems really slow. Is there any way that I should build my character? Should I master a class then move on, or mix it up? I assume I should get the gain more Jp skill off the bat with everyone. I remember trying another playthrough of FFT and felt like I made my soldiers too weak by being too broad.

I think that's the reason why sales exist in the first place.

I snagged Vagrant Story. I have fond memories, but I'm hoping it holds up as well as everybody says it does.

Is DMC4 SE worth getting?

It's a pretty fantastic version of dmc4 with lots of extras.

But it is dmc4, which can be either a good or bad thing depending on personal taste.

Assuming you've not played it, it's worth buying to try. It's cheap enough and a great action game despite the flaws.

Early/mid game still holds up quite well(UI and mechanics quirks aside). Sadly the last third or so always has and will be a bummer. I doubt most ever played far enough to know though...

Just watch how this guy plays the game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_quk8XL1xY

ez.

What did Square do with it apart from the cg bits?

Much like Chrono Trigger there's some cool post-game unlockable stuff, and the battle screens transition from the overworld a lot nicer than the old SNES furious zoom-in bit. Nothing huge but I suppose I'd pick the PS1 port on PSN over the original on Wii Virtual Console, all things being equal.

So GAF I'm looking to give final fantasy another shot after X and XIII went over poorly for me, which should I get IV or VII?

Just bought DMC 4 SE and DMC Collection. Excited to play them next month which is the time it'll take for my shitty internet connection to download them! God I hate buying digital games :(

Also bought XIII-2. I hope I don't regret this as much as I did XIII. It better be at least decent.
And now I have to delete a bunch of stuff from my PS3.

What'd you hate about XIII? The story? If so, you'll regret it :(

The story was weak, but I could have managed if the other aspects of the game were better. My main problem was the pacing of the whole thing. You're constantly walking in a straight line and fighting with the occasional not-very-interesting cutscene (that's literally the whole game, except for that one chapter where instead of walking forward and fighting you're walking on all directions and fighting), and the plot almost never takes a time to breath. I missed the dungeons, side-quests (that don't involve hunting stuff), exploration, cities and other things to do. If XIII-2 can deliver a little better on some of these aspects then I can excuse the weak plot.
