Giant Bomb Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 Live Quick Look

"This game feels like someone trying to launch a Tony Hawk Pro Skater style game in 2015 and it's on early access and like 4 people worked on it"

Damn.

You know GAF. Always shitting on glitch-filled disasters.

While you were being facetious, that actually is true. It's not what I meant, however. I meant more that some users on GAF are more inclined to attack something if they see other users doing it. I'm not defending the game in any way; I did say it was pretty rough, and it's pretty sad that Activision let it come out in this state.

The game looks fun, but without controlling it myself, I can't confirm that. And honestly, by the time the game is under $20, I won't even care about it that much.

The levels look *really* sparse but I haven't seen any real glitching yet.

Still not worth $60. Probably not even worth $30 in the condition it's currently in.

Favourite line so far:

"This game is 60 dollars. 60 dollars! That's insane to me. This game feels like someone is trying to make a Tony Hawks-style game in 2015, and they launched it on early access on Steam, and also four people worked on it. That's what it feels like"

Well I never expected to feel sad from watching gameplay. I loved THPS when I was younger. . this game just seems so lifeless. .

Shoutout to Youtube's comment section: "60 individual Dorito bags are worth more to me than this game"

Man, I wonder if the CoD series will eventually get to this point. Like, in 5 years they'll launch Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 with all the production and marketing of a budget title.

Papercuts

fired zero bullets in the orphanage.
This feels like a game made for online multiplayer with tacked on single player missions, like bot-matches in an online FPS

From what I saw of a stream last night every level seems to just rehash the same missions each time so it doesn't seem far off the mark.

something tells me shooting people in the face won't wear out its welcome as much as easily as skateboards and plastic guitars

This game has no heart.

I can't believe there's no Horse or Graffiti mode, that's insane to me. That's something that always irks me. When a developer releases diaries talking about how they're such hardcore fans, but the final product says everything but. I'm sure there could be more to it, but that stomping ability alone being a thing AND tacked onto the grind button no less, says otherwise. Well, and so many other things.

Also, is it just me or does it just lack the fluidity from previous games? Watching Jeff do tricks at the skate park when he was going over controls looked all kinds of messy / choppy.

yea this looks like a 360/PS3 game ported to next gen and they forgot to optimize it.

The slam is something that real skaters do which is probably a large reason why they included it.

The worst part is how utterly joyless this all feels. Like I'd rather do excel tables than this.

I think it's just missing all the little details the old games had....NPCs and environmental stuff going on, or maybe I'm just remembering it wrong

This just looks like a game full of test levels
