Stop, No, and Don't: Spielberg says he'll "probably" do Indy 5 w/ Harrison Ford

Indiana Jones 5 rumored plot:

Indiana Jones joins the search for Medusa's head, an artifact with the power to turn entire cities to stone. In doing so, Indie must confront a shadow organization bent on world domination, and face a fear that's plagued him since childhood: Snakes.

Indiana Jones and the Seniors' Cruise

"MARION! Where's my hat?"

I love Crystal Skull and would certainly watch another one.
But I'd rather have the series just stop than have the role recast.

I want them to go full Wet Hot American Summer and make the next one the prequel, and just have old ass Harrison Ford running around as a younger version of Indiana Jones.

Do it. Yes. Just get a stunt actor to do all the action. Indiana Jones should never be recast. And the series shouldn't end with a shitpile like Crystal Skull.

If my choice is between Harrison Ford and Chris Pratt, make it with Ford. He is Indiana Jones. Anyone else would be an imposter.

If they want to make a different, but similar, series starring Chris Pratt, fine. But if it's called Indiana Jones, it's got to star Harrison Ford.

Though honestly, they should just let that series rest since Ford is too old to take seriously in that role.

Wasn't it Lucas' influence that led to some of the more... questionable sequences in Indy 4? Either way, I still enjoyed the film, it wasn't completely awful by any means.

Yeah from that one plinkett review on redlettermedia it seemed Indy 4 was basically the film Lucas wanted to make story wise, and no one really gave enough of a shit to say otherwise.

So basically as long as Lucas has no input, might be good.

I'd love an indy 5 with harrison. The "original" movies deserve a better send off than crystal skull

I don't see the studio green lighting anything that isn't a reboot though.

None of the sequels touch the greatness of Raiders anyway. I don't see a 5th one hurting the "legacy". I wouldn't mind another one with Ford. Why not? If Ford really wants to do it, I say do it.

I haven't seen it since it was in the cinemas, but I kind of liked Crystal Skull so I wouldn't mind another Indy movie.

There was a lot to like about Crystal Skull (like this), but the bad parts were really bad and that's what most people remember. I'm game for another one if Speilberg can realize what didn't work and adjust. It needs a better story, too.

Look, just reboot it already. And make Indy a woman. Maybe set it more modern times. And lets have her be independently wealthy instead of wasting 20 minutes of every film, showing her teach some shitty history class that students only take cause it an easy A.

Basically I want new (good!) Tomb Raider movies.

Temple of Doom wasn't great, and was followed up by the awesome Last Crusade.

Harrison Ford rocks. Steven Spielberg rocks. The script for Crystal Skull was lousy, and there was too much CGI, but I think everyone involved learned their lessons. Kind of like how they learned racism wasn't a great idea after Temple of Doom.

In the "all practical effects, all the time" new ethos of LucasFilm, they could make a killer last Jones film with Ford. I'd much rather see a proper sendoff for the REAL Indiana then some kind of reboot.
