Gamecube:

Sonic stages (Mega Drive):

Doom:

These are nice and fancy and all, but there's something about those Zelda dialog fonts they used in Ocarina of Time/MM that i really love:

N64 Zelda games:

So nice.

Anyway, what's your favorites? Please post pics.

It seems to be a custom font, but there's something undeniably charming about FFIX's typeface. Look how adorable the oversized 'a' is!

So, you know, it matches literally everything else about the game, too. ^^

Mistral is the font used for the Devil May Cry logo, with a couple of changes. Its a default Windows font, as well.

Original font on top, game logo text on bottom.

Doesn't really look like the same font at all. Some similarities, sure, but almost every letter is noticeably different.

Final Fantasy's Runic MT Condensed font is one of my favourites. It's simple, readable yet has an amazing style to it.

Oh man, I went trawling for FF fonts for FFRK OT2 a few days ago. Would have loved to have stumbled on this stark reminder.

edit:
Tempted to give all the images in the OP another pass now.

pro tip

1. go to game website
2. inspect element
3. under resources tab expand the frames folder
4. all the fonts used on the game site are shown and can be downloaded by right clicking and open in new tab
5. upload the file here to get the woff/woff2 file converted to ttf installable on your system

i do that when i like a game font or am making the OT etc, its handy

I'm quite fond of the font used in the NES Dragon Warrior games:

It's much nicer than the tiny font they went with in the DS ones.

Is this something they are legally obligated to do with the fonts they used or something?

I like the classic arcade font, most notable for displaying scores and hi-score name entry.

I think several arcade manufacturers used it, but I don't know who was first.

(Not the font for 'enter your name', obviously).

I have always liked fonts like this:

It's not about the shape but the metallic/shaded look, many arcade and 16 bit games used similar kind of shades and i have always loved them.
