Do you guys think it would be possible and appropriate to make a SFV Beta Feedback/Feature Request/Character Enjoyment Poll thread after the beta 2 is over?

Doesn't Capcom hold their own surveys? There was one after the first beta
People really don't get that there's no nerfs or buffs yet. Capcom's balancing the entire game around variables you don't even know about, so saying Bison or Ryu got nerfed is weird. And not all the changes are necessarily balance reasons. There could be an internal philosophy for how they want the cast to perform according to their vision for the game, and they're just bringing everyone in line. Or they changed things because they caused weird gameplay issues you don't know about. The game is still in a massive state of flux, characters are losing and adding motions, dash animations are changing, character speeds are changing. Hell, I'm assuming a large part of what you guys are playing in the beta has been changed weeks ago.

So I'm not gonna worry about balance yet.
Is it okay if I repost this in the roster thread?

Yeah, but we don't get Capcom's results. I'm curious to see which characters GAFers liked.

Last time, they didn't ask about features, either. I want to hassle them for in-game frame data and hitboxes. :p
VF has the best online, so much cool stuff going on. I remember I customized my Jacky to look like Dio Brando.
I do prefer VF's customization options over any other game that has attempted the same. I actually just prefer VF's everything which just makes me depressed when I realize we will never see another one.

Well there's some hope according to Verendus, he said a new one may be announced sometime next year.

My single biggest takeaway from the SF5 beta after playing a ton during both phases is that people who can't play fundamentals are gonna be super free. Gonna be really interesting to see how 4000pp Ibuki players who think they have huge dicks adapt to SF5.

Karin is real good. Rekka enders are useless as mixup though, mostly useful as combo enders for positioning etc. Trying to use these moves as mixups against someone who's played for more than a day = death. Different kind of character than I thought she was gonna be.

Chun is still real good too even with the nerfs. b.hp nerf makes me sad, but I understand why they did it, and I guess b.hp being a CC kinda buffs it as an antiair even if it's not as good as a frame trap. I hope they nerf her vtrigger so you can't just wait for people to do something with a lot of recovery, activate, then aa/super.

Ken seems real good too. Seems like he has some of the best CC confirms, even if you still have to commit. Real fun.

Didn't play any Rashid but seems like he has the potential to be one of the best characters in the game.

Not sure what my opinion on Mika is. The only ones I would lose to were the ones who would just walk forward and do stuff that I just didn't have the experience to know how to deal with. Started to learn how to punish her v-skill and hop kick thing near the end of the beta, at least.

Due to the speed and advantage on her normals compared to the rest of the cast, you can only Alpha Counter or guess against command grab. She currently has Vanilla SFxT lights. I'm kind of hoping that doesn't persist up to release.

Looking forward to VF6. Not totally sold on SF5 but now that I have a 360 stick I can grind in VF5 in anticipation for the imminent announcement and release of VF6.

My guess is they most likely just won't play V and call it shit.

Some people are also probably going to flock to Rashid thinking he'll let them avoid having to actually play the neutral game. They will also get bodied.

The local tournament series I help run here in metro Atlanta is currently the biggest in the area, but the other staff members got this idea in their heads that they needed to double the venue and entry fees in order to make it "more prestigious." I told them a month ago that this was a terrible idea and all it would do would force our regulars into going to one of any of the other dozen tournaments in the area instead of us because they would be able to get roughly the same experience there for half the cost.

They went ahead with the change anyway, and our Smash attendance dropped from ~70 players to 17 players.

I told them they need to either revert this change or I quit. I got called a tantrum-throwing 30 year old child for my efforts, but they caved anyway because they know I put at least twice as much work into this as any of them.

How are things going in your neck of the woods?

What was the cost?

Lol @ prestige. Only top players care.

What were they planning to do with the extra money? If it was funds to improve the tournament in some fashion (buying extra sets, paying for DLC, buying refreshments, etc) I can see a slight price increase. Double the price seems Bella aggressive though. I can see a $1 increase and work from there.

And lol at temper tantrum, sounds like none of the people SixFortyFive are talking about never worked in aa a place that had to be price conscious. You can't raise prices like that and expect no blowback.

They didn't even have the decency to just say they wanted more money, lol

"prestige" my ass

The funny thing is that none of us even end up pocketing any money. It all gets eaten by equipment costs, data costs for the streams, the venue owner's cut, etc. (Technically, I make some eSports pennies out of Youtube ad revenue, but that isn't much.) In the past when we've had a surplus, we put it into occasional pot bonuses, but we can't do that now because we need to save up for PS4s and SF5, along with more setups for our existing games.

They legit thought they could attract just as many people with this, that it could encourage more out of state players, and that we'd reach our goal for equipment faster. When I pointed out that we don't exist in a vacuum, that close to a dozen other comparable tournaments in the area exist, that we'd be pricing ourselves out of our competition, that the only people that like a bigger pot are the few top players that have a chance of winning it, and that 90% of participants are just looking for a reasonably priced way to play games for an evening, I just got brushed off. Everyone on Facebook right now are making the exact same complaints that I said people would be making.

I'm not entirely sure what kind of fantasy world they were living in.

To be frank, the whole thing sounds delusional. Instead of risking the weekly for these kind of shenanigans they should have thought about doing either a bigger sized monthly, some kind of seasons final or just straight up go for broke "major".
But before all of that, they should measure interest first.

The cutoff for CPT points this year seem to be 160 points.

Edit: Also, Infiltration will not go to CPTAsia Finals due to Sony asking him to play SFV at their Korean Trade show conference.

SG Fighter, the TO of CPTAsia Finals is trying to get Poongko to take Infiltration place.

@efpoongko pls let me know if you can attend cpta finals by this friday. Thank you @INFILTRATION85 @BIGDANMUL

Some Floecharts for Karin and Vega so far.

I tuned in early in the beta to Floe playing Karin and stole the shoulder check reset. Built the rest of the rest of my game around it and everything fell into place. That video had some other great nuggets of info (Like the crossup setup) and s.FP anti-air (I had no idea! O:)

All the other Karins were going for dumb baloney overhead gimmicks, and I would literally beat them with the basics + EX Shoulder.

Sounds like it'll be huge

What do you guys think about quick rise so far?

Wakeup options feel appropriate considering how grounded pressure works. It's not bad for the offender to go in from the front, though crossups are still quite preferable. I did not use crossups much as Karin, despite the potential. I would have considered my offense "suffocating".
