Wow so this is the end of one of the most craziest weeks in GAF history? Such a pleasant end IMO. Kankki, you did a top notch work! Well desserved tag you have now :D

Now... what about those insiders who were claiming this pics were indeed real? Maybe the NDA is so strong on NX they actually had to lie saying this pics were real just so people can spotlight this instead of the real thing?? I guess we will never know.

If GAF went this paranoid with this fake leaks, just imagine when Nintendo reveals the real thing.................

Fantastic. Makes me want a 3D printer even more.

I'm not a huge Nintendo fan but I followed all the threads recently just to experience the excitement or sadness vicariously and I have to hand it to you that was an amazingly well done prank/leak/fake. So much fun and I'm so glad you didn't get banned

I wasn't following the thread but that's amazing that kankki was commenting on it as if he was an impartial observer. That just raised the bar for me.

Whilst I don't think he should be banned I don't see why people are cheering the spread of misinformation. Main reason people believed it was because it'd take a crazy amount of effort to make a fake.

Because it was a cautionary tale, and he 'outed' himself. He taught people a good lesson on being skeptical and then in the end showed that he did it and how he did it and even figured he himself would be banned.


We all had a good laugh and a lesson was learned.

And with the advent of new 3d printable materials the possibilities are endless. There are 3d printers that work with metal and glass as well as the plastics and resins we are familiar with. We are not too far away from some Star Trek replicator shit here.

Disappointed that the title wasn’t Perkele Saatana but heh, well played :p

The “glass” was what threw me off the most, looking so perfect. I guess what most people are missing when saying that this is a new age of fakes thanks to 3D printing, are forgetting that you also used an acrylic cutting machine, as well as that fact that you had the knowledge and the tools to do the finishing touches to everything. Definitely not as simple as just 3D print something.

Access to CNC machines has been a thing much longer than 3D printing.

I wish I could 3D model because it would be really cool to have a cheap 3D printer and if a company comes out with a controller I don't like, I could just design and print my own shell and stick the innards into it. It wouldn't change things like number of buttons but it could tweak size for larger hands, more comfortable grips, depending on how the circuitry is set up you could change button placement (What I would give for the Wii U Pro Controller innards inside a Wavebird shell, GameCube had the GOAT button layout and that thing just melted into your hands).

To be fair, a laser cutter would not be required to do what he did but it sure as heck made things faster and easier. Especially for the little piece cut out for the "camera". Having the knowledge and tools at his disposal really helped the prank too because he was able to make his print so quickly after the initial fake. This is like a master class in how to create a hoax, major major props to kankki!!

It's not like it is in GameFAQs where you can become successful by being a troll. If you screw someone over in GAF, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is a ban.

What this means is the forum public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to believe leakers for any system, nor will they buy any gaming journalist's claims. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but kankki has alienated an entire forum's readership with this move.

My favorite part of all of this. Those trying so hard to convince themselves this will be good with the silly shaped screen, by doing mock-ups, etc., for buttons, etc..

Going as far as saying they could have revolutionary [see: expensive] tech that raises buttons on the screen... Really?!

So well played, lol.

That thread that kankki caused is just a preview of the real NX thread if the conroller is anything but a redone Wii U pro controller or Dual Shock clone. I half wanted it to be real just for the meltdowns. I'd still try it.

Anyway, A+ for effort and the "corroboration" of another fake was a smart move. I think crows are now an endangered specie. Insiders, reporters, haters, lovers...all served.

Awesome job! I'm glad it's fake though lol. Who knows .. if by chance Nintendo was ever thinking of a design like this, they were able to gauge the public's interest in the design and change it before it's too late.
