Warbits |OT| Adorable Advance Wars-like Turn-based Strategy game (iOS)

Played this for a good bit yesterday. Is it Advance Wars at it's core? Yes. Did they add a bit of their own personal spice and make a great version of it for this platform? Yes!

It feels great to have something that scratches that AW itch, looks great, and is genuinely well polished in all aspects.

Filing this under reason #72 why sometimes having an android phone sucks.
I truly prefer Android as an OS, but since I'm into these games, I just can't see myself switching back from iPhone. I own an Android tablet, though.

I like that, in a fight, the group that attacks hits first and the attacked defends with whatever troups it has left after the attack. Both groups involved in a close quarter fight in Advance Wars and Battle Isle resolve attack simultaneously if I remember correctly.

Yup, this alone convinced me to support them.
Purchased and played through the first couple of missions, and while I haven't played AW etc, this does seem to be the perfect strategy game for mobile.

FINALLY!

I will buy it as soon as I can.

Picked and played through the levels 1-1 to 2-1. I'll reserve my opinion until I played at least through half of the campaing levels.

Is anyone else having issues logging into game centre with warbits? :(
Is Game Center just not letting you log in or does it keep logging you off? If it's the former I'm afraid that you might have the Game Center bug. (Didn't the latest iOS update fix this bug?)

Orthodox, what device are you playing on?
I think it's a rendering issue caused by the confetti that drops after a mission win. :(

Would you be willing to join our testflight to get it sorted out?

It seems to have stopped after a couple of missions actually, so I'm glad to see that!

I'm on an iPhone 6. If you want any other assistance is be happy to help.

online multiplayer advance wars huh? with an art style that isn't every other big mobile game this year lazily tossed into a ninja blender?

FUCKING BOUGHT THO

Cool, I will bite. I say this as someone who never games on their iPhone ever, ever, ever (ever)

And this reminds me I need to get back to AW as well..

I really wish the game did a better job of easing you into using powers. Given how slowly you get introduced to units, it's baffling how they just give you all of them at once with no real examples of when they might be useful.

I thought the game was pretty hard at first, but after a while I started getting the hang of things and doing consistently well. Now I'm stuck on 3-4, having already restarted several times, and have no idea what I need to do to overcome it. It feels like no matter what I do the enemy starts with a huge unit/building/location advantage and the only thing I can think of is to use powers, but I'm confused as to what I should even do power-wise when even just boosting mechs (which the enemy loves to do) is worthless because I can't make enough money to overcome the fact that the enemy really quickly makes a heavy mech. Even in attempts when I've ended up with ~40 charge, I've felt weird about ever spending it because the fight's such a constant struggle that I feel like I'd have wasted it.

Is there something weird going on if someone doesn't take their turn after a certain amount of time in a online multi-player game? I play with friends and though its annoying that they take forever to take their turns, I get a notification that its my turn, but when I go in the game, I don't get a rundown of their movements, they haven't moved at all and its somehow my turn. I have talked to them in person and they can confirm they didn't move. I starts out slow, like once a day, but then it starts happening every hour. Is this a bug, or something to punish people who take too long?

I asked the developers about this before. Here's the rundown:

"Players have 48hours to move or their turn is skipped. After that, the turn timer is reduced to 24hr, 6hr, 1hr."

So if your opponents don't play, they give up their turn.

Eh, I can see the AW influence but, it's different. Might be neat though.

After having over 500 hours in the Advance Wars series, I can say that the game is a near-identical clone of the the Advance Wars games. Apart from missing some features of the Advance Wars games, the only significant difference is that you can purchase multiple powers with charges instead of being able to use the CO unique power (that also charges as you play). The gameplay, however, is identical. Even the movement and attack range of the different vehicles are nearly identical. At least some of the unique skills felt different (like the APC healing one).

That said, for $1, it was a great buy and highly enjoyable to play. The story, however, was stupid.
