Hilarious. Not even bringing 3DS games? What fresh hell is this?

If someone had told us E3 2016 would be worse than 2015 for Nintendo, we would have laughed. And yet, here we are.
It's a damn shame. The line-up for the 3DS this year is actually pretty solid & could have padded out Nintendo's E3 showing. And yet, they show nothing. Come to think of it, why haven't they shown even a bit of gameplay for Sun/Moon, yet?

Eh they'll earn it all back through a NX reveal event. They're wanting to stand out and E3 isn't the place to do it with so many competing companies being there. Smart move, this way the NX will get total attention when it's shown.

Hyped for zelda news.

NX got delayed to March 2017, so all their reveal plans got delayed, and thus they had nothing at E3 but Zelda. That's what happened.

But why can't they still show what they're working on? It's not like March is that far off.

Is this because I said Mario 3D World doesn't satisfy the same itch for some people as 64/Galaxy? Is it my fault? Did I do this? What have I done?

Exactly. Makes me wonder when we're going to get more concrete details on Pokemon, Dragon Quest, MHX etc. I needs dat.

I understand that they want to do the release of the NX right and not blow it by having it all shown on the E3 floor, but Jesus... This is... Lmao.

They're either very confident of this Zelda or they're very not seeing the point...

Either way, I'm sticking by my prediction that they are not fading into obscurity, and therefore will be just fine.

So guess that kills any expectations of other Nintendo titles being shown at e3. Don't know how much Zelda content they can show before they reveal too much or start repeating.

They are totally in a position in which they can make themselves look even more miserable in front of the entire industry like this, lol.
Good luck to them somehow fixing their completely broken public perception during some NX event later in the year, when VR and the Sony/MS revisions already have full mindshare and are on people's preorder list. If they are honest about NX in March, it should have been at E3 regardless. Now they just make everyone believe they dun goofed again.
I mean, if the NX isn't ready to be shown in full, then no use in rushing the reveal (which would end in another Wii U situation). That being said, Nintendo should have at least brought the 3DS games coming this year (Pokémon Sun/Moon, Rhythm Heaven Megamix, Kirby, Dragon Quest, Monster Hunter Generations, etc.).

I'm excited for Zelda and I really think it is going to be incredible. I also have faith that the coverage will be in-depth and entertaining.

But it's still so disappointing. I look forward to Nintendo at E3 every year. 2014 was incredible, last year was unexpectedly dogshit and now this year there's just nothing.

A massive company with dozens of IPs and various consoles/platforms and they've got one game to show. How underwhelming.

Zelda will be a prime title for NX and the 800k shipment for WiiU this year shows they want to get rid of the console as soon as possible. So it's not a surprise for me that they are only focusing on the big announced title that is also coming for their next console.

They know Zelda will be one of the highlights of E3 (or even the biggest one), so their coverage will be still good enough and at the end of the year they'll have their own event without sharing any spotlight with Sony or MS.

I'm guessing they really are putting all their eggs in one basket and will try to blow us away with the NX reveal with a decent library.

Also get ready for the treehouse to show the same Zelda scenes over and over again.

Edit: Also didn't they say last year that they were going to bring back the Nintendo world championship again because he successful it was?

If the NX ends up coming out with a TON of first party games over Y1, this is fine

If not Nintendo have really screwed up somwehere along the line

Seriously, what is going on at Nintendo Japan? When you are about to sell a new game and system, why would not build hype at the biggest event of the year.

We will (hopefully/possibly) be getting at least S/M screenshots in the next week or two before May's CoroCoro.

Their Direct last year didn't really get a good response, and I guess with even less to show this year, they just decided to skip it all together.

Spending your entire E3 dedicated to just one game that won't be out for another year sounds kind of risky. There are other games coming out, especially on the 3DS, within the year...

All I can say is at least they decided to slay the hype before it could get into a fever pitch. I'm still pumped for E3, but since NX stuff was my main reason, this is just more anti-fuel.

But Sony has plenty to show that will be up my alley, so I'll be OK. See you in August/September Nintendo!

At this point why are they going to E3 even? To only show 1 game? These last years Nintendo has really become irrelevant.

I still maintain that they were going to show NX at E3, backed out at the last minute, and are now scrambling to put something together for the show.

That's the only way this makes sense.

What the hell? And they had great E3 two years before and a okay one the year before. What happened!?
I mean, there's still a good number of games this year they can show off. Like DQ and such.

This actually makes a lot more sense to me than the original perception, which was that Nintendo was going to have the same presence they've had in the past, but that it would be nearly all Zelda. This more accurately reflects the apparent reality that Nintendo have nothing to show (or nothing they want to show) until the NX announcement.

I don't even...

I starting to believe / hope they will make an exclusive conference or direct some months after E3, cause this is just ridiculus.

But knowing Nintendo, not even this is gonna appen most likely.

This is pathetic. They have things to show and things to promote. I'm waiting for the "you guys don't understand, this is a brilliant marketing scheme" posts.

I agree. It's a bit odd and they should just show the bloody NX.

How much is there in the new Zelda that they're going to spend a "dedicated day" of live-streamed gameplay? o_O

One major release for Wii U isn't smart, in fact it could potentially put off potential customers of their next console. The software droughts have been a disgrace and nothing was learnt from previous generations which had the likes of Iwata apologising for not only Wii but 3DS and GameCube. It's not good enough.

And what of the 3DS? Nintendo's literally showing jack-shit for the system at E3 this year, & it actually has a pretty good line-up of games (in the West).

Maybe this means we can get a May direct for 3DS games and Paper Mario release date.

Positive spin?
