E3 2016 rumor and unannounced game recap thread

If Sony can manage to make Spider Man as relevant to games as Batman is, of all announcement this one would possibly have the most impact.

I just don't see how they can. The mind does not register a Spider Man game that can take on something like the Arkham games, but I'll have to see a gameplay demo first. Sucker Punch being the rumoured developers is interesting though.

It seems like kind of a quiet year. Even if all of those things were "real," they'd be somewhat disappointing. Meh. Anyway, hope it has just been a weak rumor season.
I wouldn't say they were disappointing but they definitely don't have the impact of something like TLG, Shenmue and FF7R.

I think we'll get more leaks this week. I don't want leaks but I think it will happen.

Is it really though? Lots of those titles all seem much more relevant to today's market than Shenmue, The Last Guardian, and Nier 2, and that's before we even get to the new hardware.

While it is always a challenge to look at the market in the abstract and exclude personal taste, I don't really get excited for inevitable sequels and games I already knew about by looking at studio hirings. What's relevant to the market and what makes its way into press conferences...E3 is perhaps the only time of the year where those two things are not in perfect alignment. Well, other than I guess PSX or whatever.

Thanks, Nirolak. This is very helpful!

Suicide Squad and Sony's Spider-man are the two big ones that I really want to see at E3. Let's hope the latter really is being made by Sucker Punch.

To my knowledge, Rockstar did show up at an E3 and announce GTA V Remaster. Lets see if this pans out and they show up for Red Dead 3 as well.

They've had announcements at previous E3's too but people just forgot about them. lol Aside from the GTAV remaster and Agent announcement: GTAIV was announced at E3 during Microsoft's conference and showed up a year after that with a new trailer and exclusivity deal for the Episodes of Liberty City. Red Dead Redemption was shown off as far back as E3 2005 as a tech demo.

I posted this on the microsoft rumor thread
we already knew some of this rumors(real or not)
rare : battletoads and banjo are always mentioned before e3
sea of thief was never a mmorpg
Forza Horizon australia leaked trailer from February(probably fake but australia/japan are always mentioned for next forza)
We already knew of General Raam for killer instinct
There was the rumor that the new studio was for Aoe or for a new strategy game
halo 2 beta is new but almost every Microsoft multiplayer game gets one( especially halo games)

If the new zombie game is Stay of decay here is an ign article from last year mentioning multiplayer
"State of Decay...it's just a single-player game, but it is very much a proving ground for the experience that we would like to carry forward as we look at the future of State of Decay," he said. "But one thing I can tell you is that that future very much has multiplayer at its heart."
some gaffers "insiders" are mentioning there is a Dead rising 4 in the making

the rumor list
Code:
A trailer for Xbox Daily and the Xbox Media Briefing will be published later today by Microsoft. It's already available on their servers. I can't give you details on how to get there though, sry. It will not feature anything too relevant but still one interesting new theme.
Only read further if you are fine with potential E3 spoilers!!!
People asked me what else I could catch from Xbox API etc. I will just share it now. Take these as rumors or whatever. I don't know what will be at E3 or whatever.
Rare is working on a new Battletoads
Sea of Thieves won't be a straight MMO, more like The Division/Destiny, seems like MS will give this game a huge focus, cross-play, cross-buy
FH3 set in Australia
General RAAM for Killer Instinct
Something Age of Empires (still not sure what exactly, prob new game)
Halo Wars 2 Beta is a thing, no cross-play mentioned
Zombie online game by MS, prob new State of Decay, could also be Dead Rising
Anniversary update will gets its own landing page on Xbox.com with the major features listed, prob "available now" at E3 for preview

If done right I don't see why it can't end up being bigger than Infamous, Spider-Man use to be a big in games.

Sucker Punch has the experience to pull it off.

The Sucker Punch Spider-Man game sounds really interesting. But will it be a movie tie-in or it's own thing like Arkham is the question.

- Option 5: Red Dead 3: Rockstar generally doesn't announce their games at E3, but there's nothing stopping them from doing so. Red Dead 3 is clearly in development given the last game's sales, and there have been a variety of leaks, so it's a matter of when, not if.

Hopefully Rockstar redeems themselves after 2. Such a forgettable game. It literally felt like nothing.

I thought Amazing Spiderman did a decent job of making a Spiderman game with Arkham combat. I could see it being done well, but it won't have the same impact as Arkham Asylum simply because Arkham did that combat first and best.

I think it would be cool to see a new Battletoads in the same vein as Double Dragon Neon, but targeting a 90s style the way Neon used the 80s.

......I can't tell whether there's a joke here or not.

Just thought it was a little odd to see the 3 when every site out there talks about "Red Dead Redemption 2". I know technically there's Revolver, but seeing the 3 here when everyone seems to use 2 feels like we skipped one.

Awesome thread. I didn't know about some of this. Haven't been keeping on top of the rumors. Hoping we see the Suicide Squad game. I'd like to see what its about. Also kind of hoping Sucker Punch isn't doing a Spiderman game. Would prefer they move onto something wholly unrelated to superheroes to be honest.

Just remembered this video related to possible Croft Manor DLC for Rise of the Tomb Raider. Maybe the TR news has something to do with that? Or maybe I just want it to because I really loved the manors in Anniversary/Legend! Hoping for something like that again!

CTRL+F "half life 3".... :'(

Are their any rumors of Valve showing anything? Maybe new VR content, the long rumored L4D3 or anything relating to Source 2?

I need Resident Evil 7 to be at E3 2016. With Nintendo barely being there, the magic/hype is gone — but RE7 could save it!

Great idea, thanks OP!

Stuff not seen on the list:
New Serious Sam (Devolver?).
Agent TM renewed just before E3...

Also I assume Microsoft's mysterious zombie game and Capcom's secret 2 million copies title might be the same.

That Forza Horizon 3 trailer is definitely fake. Looks like a real life video with the logo slapped on.

So, if Square isn't having a conference this year, should give up on the hope of seeing more Nier: Automata footage this year's E3? And where should I look for Persona 5, PlayStation?

I'm sure they will have announcements and media; they're just not having their own event like they did last year. Probably blew all that money on the FFXV Uncovered event.

Nothing exciting to me except EA's new Star Wars game.
I feel sick when I see Ubisoft's new open-world FPS.

I hope Square Enix will announce something besides the inevitable mobile games. FFXV and KH3 new footage are good, but I want to see more of NieR and DQXI, and hopefully a release date for RotTR on PS4. And any tease of FFXVI is welcomed, they must have already been working on it.

About the mysterious Capcom game, Capcom Vancouver has had hiring sprees on at least two occasions in the last three years, and is working on at least two titles which were confirmed via job listings. Job listings also suggest that they are working with UE4. Whatever it is, it's definitely not DMC5 for various reasons.

as much as I'm on team "yeah Crash seems likely", the stuff listed in the OP has far more concrete reasoning than "the first game is in Uncharted 4 and some dude on GAF has been teasing it"

It's more than just that. There was the T-shirt at PSX which seems like a repeat of the FF7 PS4 port announcement at PSX '14, Activision isn't mentioned in UE4's credits, and the Director of Product Development at NECA said in an interview: "a lot of stuff going on with Sony" and "I see they're bringing Crash Bandicoot back, so there's some great stuff there." before backpedaling .

99.9% that Sucker Punch is NOT working on a Spiderman game. That team has way too much pride to be working on an someone else's IP.

I'm pretty bummed out looking at Nintendo's meager e3 prospects. They'd better have some really good shit planned for later in the year.

They may be more relevant to the market, but I don't think there's much to drive excitement compared to last year, at least from what's known so far, and there could still be some big curveballs.

I'd say that a lot of the things that make titles like Shenmue, Nier, etc not relevant to the market are connected to the reasons people got so excited for it.

Put another way, Call of Duty is way more relevant to the market than Crash Bandicoot, but a new Crash game would generate a lot more excitement to the enthusiast community. I think that's what people look for when hoping for an exciting E3.
