Resident Evil 7 Biohazard announced (PC/XB1/PS4), Jan 2017, PS4 demo out now

I thought most people loved PT. The only other AAA games company who does horror uses their incredibly versatile franchise to do a game that is like PT and all I see is backlash because it's not exactly like the half dozen other RE games.

Can't wait to try the demo and try to enjoy it for what it is.

I swear, every time this franchise innovates it pisses off some segment of its fans just like Legend of Zelda. They can't win.

And everyone seems to ignore that those half dozen games had massive changes between them. People seem to use Resident Evil when referring to their favorite game in the franchise. This is the 7th game and what I would say is the 4th major change in gameplay style. I couldn't be more hyped. 6 just felt like they had no direction and we're just trying to make a game that would sell, this feels refreshing if it's done right.

Hey, this is probably a dumb question to ask, but I can't be playing this demo until this weekend, so how long is this demo? An hour?

"All over the place", lol. The series is 20 years old, and there has been two big changes during that time, which makes about one change every ten years. "All over the place"...

Also, I thought everyone loved P.T., yet P.T. was extremely different from classic Silent Hill.

And the camera angles were originally a technical limitation, nothing more.

PT was unrelated to Silent Hill though.Even Kojima had said so many times.

People liked PT as a new IP,not as a Silent Hill game.

Nah, 10-20 minutes per run. Different endings based on how thoroughly you investigate.
Heh, for some reason, I expected it to be much longer. P.T. could take hours if you didn't know what to do, correct? In any case, if this demo is that short, I think I'll try multiple runs.

Thank god that shit is gone. I had a great time with the action adventure RE4... but i'm pumped RE is going back to survival horror and a new first person view with VR capability. Pants will be shit.

this as much RE as 4, 5 and 6 were.
none..

hope they don't fuck up the Remake.

The cover doesn't seem very RE either. A little girl's black silhouette right in front of you? This is going to be quite a strange tie in to the last game

Still can't get over how bad this looks to me. I wanted RE to go back to horror but this is almost a real life nightmare scenario. Do this shit as a spinoff or something. I don't want to play as a John Doe#034. I wonder if they did it like this because it's cheaper. If it's just a hide and seek game then there won't be a lot of mechanics to implement and balance with encounters etc. that would cost a lot more money. I guess I'm just really salty about this. I feel like I already have my fill with this type of first person horror games.

I bet this is a reboot of sorts and it'll be revealed that this family is in fact called Spencer and they're in some witness protection program but some virus got out and slowly infected them after the fact. It's so dumb I bet it's real, Capcpom should hire me.

Eh, it's pretty close to the feeling of investigating the mansion in RE1 up to your first encounter with a zombie.

Nah, the Family refers to the organization behind Simmons in RE6.

If I remember correctly people were, at that point, tired of the old RE formula and so it was welcomed with open arms when the final RE4 was revealed.

Actually lots of people shit on first RE4 revelation, until they have their hands on the demo. That's when they have a better idea on the game direction and know what's coming.

This scream the same reaction pattern. We don't know much about the game at point apart from being horror FPS + VR supported. I'm not sure Capcom has ability to do the same with RE4 when more than half of their talents have left the company, but we will see. This looks like something coming from totally new team, or at least lots of new blood in development staff.

I would really love to know who is the director of this game. It would be really surprising if they give it to totally no name director.

I know this demo/teaser is not 100% representative of the full game but from what i've seen so far,i love it.
We have to wait for a proper trailer to see how the game really is,i'm really interested to see some combat.
The fact this is coming in 7 months and we didn't get a trailer shows that they don't want to spoil the game and i really appreciate it,quite a change compared with RE5/6 marketing where the trailers spoiled 90% of the cutscenes.
"The family is waiting early 2017"
Oh well,it seems they will bring back the illuminati bullshit from RE6.

Oh, it's that "Family"? I thought we were talking about the family living in the house you explore :p. It'll be weird if the rest of the series is canon with this extreme tonal change.

To be fair, lots of stuff in RE4 were totally out of usual RE universe as well. One of the thing that hit me first time when that game was revealed was chainsaw guy.

The "basement" of the house and the locked door are almost certain hints the family of the house are members of the Family, and the house is a Family research center.

It changes what the woman on the phone tells you. I'm not sure exactly what triggers it, but I've had her say these two things to me. "Memories hold the truth, don't let appearances mislead you." "You have the power to choose, but the outcome of that choice may not be what you expect."

Does anyone know how to trigger the ghost? I've seen her on the stairs going up to the 2nd floor and the room next to the one you start in

Yeah I've had those. Thought you meant that you didn't get hit or something

For folks still having trouble finding it.

Go to search bar. Type the number 7 and search. Resident Evil 7: Deluxe Edition should be at the bottom of the results.

Go to the page. Select Game Page.

When the new page opens up, scroll down and it should be under the Bundle.

This is for the PS store on consoles though.

How many series has changed up its gameplay entirely? This isn't a small gameplay mechanic being changed but an entire perspective on how the game is played. GTA has kept the same formula for 15 years, as has MGS, FF, Mario, Zelda etc. Yes, these games have introduced gameplay refinements and new mechanics but nothing that would completely change the look and feel of the game.

It's been all over the place in regards to the developers vision concerning what they want the series to be. Look at RE6, it tried to cram so many different perspectives on what the game should be that it became a disjointed mess.

I thoroughly enjoyed P.T but from what I remember, it was just a teaser and not exactly what Silent Hills would have been. Even then it at least shared the same supernatural elements.

Resident evil 7 demo is called a teaser too in its title.

There is nothing supernatural in this demo by the way.

Glad to hear it isn't supernatural

Yeah but it still revolved around zombie-like adults staggering around to chase you. That girl is another PT style element

The lady that shows up randomly and then vanishes in certain spots has potential to be supernatural. I don't think she will be but she isn't explained at all.

double jump

you haven't lived until a random little kid ask you "how do you make love".
Unless I'm missing or overlooking something that demo was fucking stupid.

Like I feel like I wasted my time playing and downloading it.

The rumor a few months back surrounding this was that Capcom had hired Jordan Amaro from Konami/Kojima for a PT-inspired RE7 that'd be unveiled at E3.

Given the other 80% was correct, that probably is too.

Now, that's interesting, and makes me wonder how much it might affect the final product.
