"Eizen"...

Oohhhh so close to the other name.

But yea, all the characters seem pretty nice this time around. I feel like they need to do an overhaul of their engine, and game mechanics still look a bit dated from the teaser trailers, but this is still the good ol' Tales tried and true story/gameplay....

Hope it doesnt get stale early on like the last few titles.

I just wish they'd go back to only one main character designer per game instead of 4. And a really give Daigo Okumura his own full main cast to make instead of shafting his characters all the time.

I own two Tales games that I haven't made it very far in (well technically 3 if you include Abyss, but that is probably a lost cause): Xillia 2 and Zesteria. Which one should I give a shot? I loved Xillia, Vesperia, and Symphonia.

Xillia 2 by a mile. Also, ToA is not a lost cause, it's the best of the three.

Source? I googled it and couldn't find anything.
Both Japanese and English are listed next to VO:

At this point, the Tales of series has had more misses than hits for me. I'm also very skeptical of the "emotion vs. reason" plot line since that kind of stuff is a huge pet peeve of mine, especially in anime (It's basically used as a Dues Ex Machina. Suspension of disbelief can only go so far with that kind of thing).

You should give Abyss another go. It's got a slow start but really picks up. I liked Zestiria more than Xillia 2, but if you liked Xillia a lot 2's got a lot of fun tie-ins.

Yeah sadly I agree.

In general, if you liked xilia you'll probably like xilia 2. it's a fun game and pretty well-paced, fun to revisit the xilia locales too.

Can't wait, day one!
I skipped Zesteria so it's been far too long since I've enjoyed me a new Tales of game :)

The costume design of the main character is awful. It's awful enough to prevent me from buying a game I would otherwise consider.

You'll get her village costume early no doubt. At that point you only need to deal with the costume in anime scenes and skits.

I wonder if this one will finally grant access to the full battle system right away. I like Tales but the first 5-10 hours of every game are absurdly slow and limited.

Tales of the Abyss is great. My favorite tales, edging out Vesperia. Luke is annoying at first, but building the story around his character progression actually worked quite well I thought.

I want to play and enjoy another Tales, but everything since Vesperia has been a big miss for me. Have my eye on Berseria though....

I haven't seen this trailer, it looks really good; but i refuse to be hyped after the disappointment Zestiria was :(

Have they said what the battle system was like in this one yet? Haven't been paying attention.

From what I remember:
-Fusion system from Zesteria is gone
-Free Run is now the default movement in battle
-Artes can be assigned to each face button and now activate along a customizable version of the A-Artes tree.
-You can switch in party members during combat, and they perform an entry attack when you do.

Looking forward to the game, hopefully it'll be MUCH better than Zestiria, getting close to the end of it and man.....it's probably one of my least liked Tales games ever. The combat is great but the story.............Can't wait to be finished with it lol

Some direct feed battle gameplay (change the quality to 720p or 1080p for 60fps):

ok this looks way better, i hope, now that they are developing for ps4 too, that they can avoid the fps drop when there are a lot of enemies in the same battle or screen

also, i loved how quick is the change to the other 2 party members, and the fact that it allows you to continue your combo, this is looking really good

I need a clean version of that song, coudln't appreciate it that much, but so far the game looks really good

I actually think both the cast and concept (that I could draw from the trailer) looks pretty decent. We've had too much mediocrity with the Tales series lately; Zestiria and Xillia were bland.

Perhaps we all look up to Vesperia too much...

Game looks fun but it boggles my mind on why they never just used the Vesperia artstyle. It would no doubt capture more interest. The game would look Ni No Kuni esque. The art style in Vesperia is what really drew me to that game as it's the perfect style for a Tales of game.
