Um, you guys realize that isn't actually Miyamoto right?

What do you mean? He has "real" right there in his twitter handle. Gotta be legit. It's like if you ask a narc if they're a cop. They've gotta say yes. Them's the rules.

It's a real tweet, that's what I meant. It's obvious a joke though.

I guess people who aren't familiar with how twitter works might not understand. BTW some people do use "real" in their name to differentiate from parody accounts.

Nintendo are legally in the wrong here. Parody, which pornography can fall under is considered fair use. Then there is the fact that these are not models ripped from Nintendo games but actual recreations. Also the entire effort is futile anyway. You can't delete things from the net, because like the North, the Net remembers. Especially porn.

Absolutely, agreed. But historically content providers such as youtube or tumblr tend not to view things that way.

Doesn't nintendo usually do this when they're about to release a similar product?

Guys, I think I know how Nintendo is going to win back casuals!

I'll tell then what I told blizzard.

Good luck, you'll need it.

If anything, Overwatch worked out great. Regardless of how it played out, people were going to buy the game and the whole ordeal just increased the mind share that it held.

Indeed. And there's now more Overwatch porn out there than ever. Those DMCA takedowns will never do anything so long as the lion's share of porn sites rely on user uploads.

Good call, after Blizzard successfully erased any trace of Overwatch porn from the internet, it was only a matter of time, before other followed suit.

They already own the rights to a porn movie.

Although that's purely so they can prevent it from ever being released.

*curls up over the large amount of Bara Gay nintendo porn he's drawn like a dragon over his gold hoard*

YOU'LL PRY MY HUSBANDOS FROM MY COLD, DEAD HANDS!

I have no issue with any company doing this with any of their IP.

More power to them,as long as the law is on their side.

If the law changes,fine.

Can someone explain how this porn is protected by law, as people always seem to claim?

I thought it was specifically parody that was protected by law. Like if it was Princess Pear getting rammed by Lario. I don't see how using the exact characters and ip is any different from someone using the exact characters for anything non pornographic. I always assumed companies like Nintendo and Disney didn't fight it because it would be too much of a hassle. I mean there are definitely people making money off of these things too from patreons, websites, etc.

The fact that it's porn doesn't factor into it. It's parody.

There was a point where Disney tried to fight it in the 90's when the advent of fanart became huge and they became unable to tell the difference between harmless parody and appropriating IP to sell a product.

Regardless, Disney is fucking up copyright law for all of us.

I just get the feeling that if something like this were to go all the way to court Disney would end up winning, and getting more control.

Would it really hold up in a court of law as parody? There isn't really any commentary or satire of any kind going on in these works, it is just someone using someone else's ip to make money. I don't see how this is any different than when Nintendo took down the Star Fox cartoon patreon thing.

Maybe Nintendo plans on publishing a Nintendo character themed porn and it would be entirely unjust for them to have to compete against these artists.

I mean, surely they have some standing to do what they are doing, assuming they are actually doing it. It does seem like a strategy destined to fail though.
