Let's GO I'm ready.

Woot!

It makes no sense for active cooling with a fan. They have to be waiting for X2, which may be why it was delayed.

Very well could be!

Awwww shit.

LOL!!! Awesome!

2 controller sides is not one of the options I considered, was thinking detachable clamshell. I guess they stay separate Wii style rather than recombining into a pad.

Sounds like it when trying to visualize it!

Haha. When Nintendo said they were working hard to get Zelda working on NX guess they werent kidding. Hilarious is wii u version is definitive version.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
Zelda BotW on a handheld makes more sense...guess ill be farming Items and co. on a handheld and play the mayor dungeon the big screen.
So it's pracically just a HH that you can put into your TV and use with several controllers? Or am I missing something?
Goddamn, so disappointed if that's all behind this. I want a real homeconsole, not a HH with TV functionality.

What would be the difference if the way you play is the same ? Assuming the game look solid on a TV.

oh man. nice pull

I had (and loved) one of those DK3 machines, so it sprang instantly to mind :)

I'm trying to visualize - controllers with cords? would be problematic for inevitable repairs. two separate wireless thingies that can attach? what if you lose one? is there a new controller spec for NX that 3rd parties can make for it?

this only raises new questions

There's a lot of good questions here. Actually, the talk of how they dock puts me mostly in mind of the original design for the Famicom - what did the original Famicom do about replacing controllers?

Can't get over the love for this. This is a terrible idea. Terrible. No one in the real world wants some huge-arse mobile console. This is going to a disaster.

MARK. MY. WORDS.

if true, I'm going to have to agree with you on this one for sure, do not think this is going to work out good, but I could be wrong...

Okay, am I missing something here? Why is Eurogamer's rumor suddenly being taken as basically confirmed when there's been a billion different NX rumors at this point? Because that's the impression I'm getting from this thread.

After many years of owning only Nintendo consoles and PC, a decently priced (say $200) Nintendo machine, with Nintendo 100% focused on a single machine is not a bad idea, even if there's no third party on it.

I don't know how appealing that is to others, though. Not everyone wants a secondary console.

It sounds compelling to me and it also sounds like a tough idea to implement. They need to balance weight, system power, heat, battery life, and durability.

I honestly didn't expect it to be a hybrid, I was expecting two different systems that ran the same games.

Well I guess this means we are getting the console Pokemon game people have wanted so badly :p

I wonder if down the road they'll make a handheld only version and a console only version as cheaper alternatives.

I like this for numerous reasons.

1) Eliminates software drought. Nintendo can't support two libraries.
2) System will get easy ports from PS4/XB1
3) Two detachable controllers gives plenty of possibilities for control schemes.

Easy ports on much weaker hardware? What? You will get no ports.

Haha called it. And people like Interceptor among others were so sure that it wasn't. Shows u how little the hardcore Nintendo people on gaf know.

How little they know? I didn't say one way or the other, but Nintendo straight up said (hell I think it was Iwata who said this) that NX wasn't a hybrid. If it is in fact a hybrid you cannot blame the people who simply took Nintendo at their word.

Sounds interesting.

What i would like.

- 7 to 8 inch screen, with at least 1080p resolution.
- At least 7 hours battery life with gaming on the actual device, wifi turned on, and brightness at 70%
- Fast charging battery technology
- Wireless lag-free connection to your tv
- Support for memory cards up to at least 128gb

This thing is gonna bomb hard Im afraid. Then again, it has the benefit of less competion in the handheld market. Nintendo is still the queen there. So I ll wait and see but I still think they will have a hard time.

I'll wait until everything is shown, but on a surface level this seems like the end of Nintendo consoles as we know them.

The 3DS was great though.

I hope the hardware quality of the handheld isn't absolute shit like the 3DS.
I hope v2 most games on the HomeNX will run at 1080p.

Excited overall.

This sounds exactly like what I would hope for. Basically a souped up handheld with TV out, so Nintendo doesn't have to split their dev teams between two systems. Seems like it might be a little too in-line with existing rumors and speculation though... I still need to read the article.

If true, then I wouldn't have to buy 2 pieces of hardware... but I probably would anyway. I'm hoping there's a 'core' version for the home, that's only playable when connected to the tv, so that I have a good excuse to buy one for the game room and one to use as a handheld.

I'm somewhat excited as this will be the 3DS successor - but I don't expect that it'll be two screens anymore (and thus no back compatibility?)

So basically, it's a handheld with the PSP's AV out port, and a second controller?

So, basically it's a PSP with a second controller?

Do people think the controllers will be physically connected? I hope not.

I mean it's been a few years since I had to purchase a multi tap in the age of wireless technology. There can even be a third, fourth or fifth controller.

I've been playing a lot on my 3ds lately. Because NX is part handheld, I hope handheld series make it on there such as Pokemon and Fire Emblem. FE Fates is great, but the character models are seriously hindered.

Based on the hybrid design, it'll be hard to promote the NX to the general consumer without confusing them. I don't want Nintendo to get into the same "I thought the Wii U was an extra controller"-dilemma.
I can imagine something like "Yeah, so this is a new handheld, but where is this new home console they were talking about a few month ago", if they don't get the message across properly.

Also, me being not really tech savvy have no idea how powerful this machine will be.
Some enlighten me, pls!

Fucking lol at all the posters I would regularly see that were 100% certain it wouldn't be a hybrid

Yup. I had someone insult me for saying I thought it would basically be a tablet with a docking station.

The docking station could have extra GPU...

hmmm.. I like the idea but this device really needs to be able to compete graphically, and not just because I want a Nintendo console to be powerful. I feel like Nintendo is setting themselves up for trouble again with 3rd parties if the cost to port is too high. I mean when you have an amazing, graphical showcase from another system ported down to run on a handheld, what gets lost in translation and how much does it cost to optimize it? Are we going to have a bunch of lackluster ports with disappointing graphics and frame rate issues?

We shall see..

This is what I was expecting all along, based on the varied information we'd been hearing. It's all that made sense. Although, I anticipated separate controllers for home use, rather than detachable ones. That's kind of interesting.

All I know is, I've been very happy with the kinds of graphics Nintendo has been able to get out of the Wii U for their games. I'm playing Tokyo Mirage Sessions right now, and I think it looks amazing. I'm ok with less powerful, if the software is there. I would appreciate the jaggies disappearing, but ... I'm interesting in seeing what the NX offers.

I was always interested in the next handheld so this is the best of both worlds. It's definitely a way to grab the casual market.

I will still wait to Nintendo to disclose the thing.

But if this is true, well, first Nintendo thing I'm not ver excited about.

The nonbelievers who kept saying "IT'S NOT GONNA BE A HYBRID!" .. Where are you now?
QbadP.png

I wasn't one of those people, but I'm almost sure a major point was we literally don't have any sure-footed confirmation that it's true, so they weren't behind any outright declarations one way or the other.

Honestly, this is what I've been waiting for, I need my games on the go and play them whenever I can, I don't have to sit and play at home.

Sigh, god dammit nintendo. I just want to see what a graphically impressive Mario/Zelda/Pokemon game would look like. Is that too much to ask? I can't say I have any interest in a portable console that's as powerful as my tablet (maybe?)

The power level thing is bad enough, but if this is actually gonna be a console/handheld hybrid, then that means Nintendo will be designing all their games with handheld sensibilities in mind. Which is terrible for people like me who don't do handheld gaming. :/

I don't think that is necessarily the case, I mean are Mario and Luigi rpgs designed as handheld games? There's no reason why series like that won't benefit from becoming console games now

Awesome. I'm x1000 more hyped for anything portable than for home consoles.

Oh, and BTW... wasn't "NX" the codename for the handheld part of the new paradigm? Wasn't there another codename floating around for something else that could be the actual console?
