My wife will be disappointed. Mobile space for her is ipad and iPhone. She loves her Nintendo consoles, tho, and was really hoping for a big upgrade come March. Now I feel bad for getting her hopes up. So NX is a powerful handheld (which she has no interest in) but it can be also connected to the TV and offer not much more in the way of visuals than her Wii U? Like is the portability thing it's big "wow we have to keep this a secret for as long as possible" super-feature? Is that what was sooooooooo amazing that Nintendo couldn't reveal at e3 out of fear other people would steal their idea?
It's a tough sell for us I think. Maybe Eurogamer doesn't have the full story or something. Maybe there is a powerful console that this thing docks with, that's still top secret. It seems to me they can't launch a flagship console weaker than the PS4 or XB1, but claim it doesn't matter because it's portable.
I think the best path forward for Nintendo is to go into mobile by putting games on android/ios, then launch a beastly new console. The 5 or so billion owners of mobile phone could then spend all their money on Nintendo mobile games, and all the fans dying for a premium console gaming experiences from their favourite Nintendo titles would buy their super sleek, super powerful next-gen console. A console that was designed with x86 architecture for maximum scalability and appeal to developers who balked at Wii U (read: everyone). I don't know, I'm just failing to see the positives here I guess.
