Yeahhhh Mankind Divided feels like its gunning too hard to tackle the issues it is aiming at. I don't have a problem with them using them using the term Mechanical Apartheid because cyberpunk has always been that kind of political commentary narrative but they don't really do anything with it. You're presented with all these issues like militarization of police, media manipulation and segregation and its treated with kid gloves on, and not just because it all wraps into DA ILLUMINATI!!!! because Deus Ex was always like that

But hey I didn't beat the game, continuing my tradition of getting 80% through Deus Ex games and then stopping

But hey maybe Mafia III will be a game that handles complex issues well????? Maybe????? Hopefully????

So is it really just Mankind Divided, or is it also Fanbase Divided? Is the game any good? Who cares anyway, go buy Deus Ex GO.

I'm around 15 hours into Mankind Divided. So far, I have two big problems with Mankind Divided.

1. In comparison to the first game, the new cast is dull as dirt. The personality just isn't there. The majority of the new faces are gruff military badasses that look like they'd be right at home in a Call of Duty game. Worse that that though is Jensen himself, who feels like he is sleepwalking through the game. In the first game he had a lot of personal stakes in the plot. Here Jensen often seems just short of shrugging at the madness around him.

2. There aren't that many new augments, and if you're gonna do a stealth playthrough, then most of them are going to be useless to you. Outside of awkwardly tackling race issues, the game is pretty safe to be honest.

Now I kind of want to watch Amanchu just because Usami's mom has those eyes while peeking from the corner of the wall and from behind the door, LMAO

Yep, this is pretty much the impression I got from the promos.

hmmmmmmm
so... that was a 25 episode anime series....
it wasn't bad but....
hmmmmmmm...
why does it feel like so little got accomplished.... this isn't a shonen show with lots of screaming...

anyways, it seems to be setting up decently for future stuff, at the same time, it seems that for the most part the anime fully covered the released light novels, and there hasn't really been much released since it finished that wasn't included already o_O

though some stuff referenced volumes 11 and 12 which don't seem to be out, so I am assuming that it gets published somewhere before being adapted into books, but it seems like his tax evasion slowed down his writing?

I suppose I would watch more of this. but I still find sword art online to be the superior show in terms of entertainment. log horizon had better world building, but SAO is just more fun to watch. I kind of want to watch .hack/sign again, but I think i might prefer that one over log horizon as well.

but yeah, if you enjoy the trapped in a mmo setting it's a fine watch. If you are tired of that and haven't seen log horizon I don't think I would recommend it though.

S2 lh definitely ends on a wet fart or perhaps more charitably a set up for further more climactic stuff.

Yes Mirage, please snap them out of it. This was the best pep talk ever and was so necessary because Freyja is just complete doo-doo and irrational if she thinks quitting will be any benefit to Hayate's flying. This is Mirage stepping up as a leader and a soldier since she knows that everyone else will never quit, least of all Mikumo, and Mikumo sure as hell won't tolerate any emo drama in a time of war.

Speaking of which, I like how she is
singing in her recovery tank like she breathes underwater, LOL

Higurashi 1-2

And I'm hooked. I actually wasn't keen on the first episode since there was a lot of focus on the club just hanging around doing kid's stuff but it was actually a nice set up as it made the conversation between Rena and Keichi later on pretty menacing. That change in her personality was unexpected, and it doesn't make sense why she'd (they'd) withhold stuff from him. Well, unless they were involved in the shenanigans. All of that adds to the overall Wicker Man vibe which is good stuff.

Put school-live yesterday as I was bored. Was about to quit it half way through, but glad o didn't. Quite the tonal shift at the end.

Also half way through season 1 of K-On, really enjoying it, but not as much as Love Live!.

On a side note, I got into Anime on the back of Death Note, Attack on Titan and Tokyo Ghoul - now all I'm watching is feel good stuff. New episode of Sweetness and Lightning later !!

I want to watch more classics - haven't seen many and my knowledge of anime before the 2000s isn't great.

Mine mostly peters out then too, mostly because my anime watching is almost totally streaming based. Sure I've seen some early kids anime (like speed racer, kimba and others) and some well known in the west things, like macross, tenchi, ninja scroll, akira, gits, dominion tank police, battle angel alita and others but really my pre 2000 experience is limited.

Mirage is truly the anti-Freyja. I don't like how much they focus on her lately.

And damn, the only good Winderemerean is dead.

Higurashi #3

That escalated quickly. It doesn't seem like Rena and the others remember the bits where they go psycho (unless it's an act) in which case maybe the curse is an actual thing.

Higurashi #4

Well, that escalated even further. WHAT IS GOING ON? :lol

Is someone still watching this garbage? I was bored so I caught up to it. Every episode makes me cringe, roll my eyes and want to slap the main characters.

It's dealing with something as heavy as suicide but the highschool relationships are so unrealistic and cringey, and the girl so dense it makes a mockery of it.

Edit: Also, the animation in this episode was awful. Guess they ran out of budget/time?

Nier Ending A finished
Quite an interesting game. There are various genre mixed in during gameplay, part monhun, part RE, part bullet hell, part VN, part platformer, part top down action ala diablo, part harvest moon, etc. Every part is mostly decent, but the fact that dev put it all in one game made the game feel experimental. Music is amazing, and i'm loving the humor, especially the banter between 'dad' and Weiss. The 1st half is more like traditional rpg story, but the 2nd part was bonker.

When you get the true ending of Nier, you'll discover it doesn't matter which platform you played it on.

lol. I only did the A and B endings, but I've heard C is the one to watch. Unfortunately, I forgot to get one of the special weapons and got the B ending my third play through and got annoyed, so I haven't gone back to get the final 2 as of yet.

nier better on ps3 or 360?

I have a 360 copy but I think i'm about to retire my 360 forever

My understanding is that (provided you're not playing a Japanese version) there's no meaningful performance or content difference between the PS3 and 360 versions.

Watched the series a while back. The movie is just another arc but done with a bit more budget.

Predictable outcome, but there are some crazy fights. Like Sir Royal III with his biljart skills or Bronco Sanders fighting with his horse.

On the subject of JoJo, I liked that the principal was reading the manga in the anime series:

Well, now that pretty much everyone has gotten over their issues, all that really remains is for
Freyja to get past hers. And probably at least tell Hayate how she feels.
I feel like now that we're coming full-circle on a lot of stuff, them being where they are now is a good stage for that resolution to happen.
Chances on her meeting her family and getting some kind of resolve? Probably likely, assuming Roid didn't wipe her village off the face of Windmere. Who knows? It'd be the kind of douchey thing he'd do.
I've been pleased with the buildup to this ending so far, and I really want to see it land. I'm also not sure where people are getting the Mirage worries from, but w/e.

Also enjoy this week's phallic shot. Maybe this is symbolism for Mikumo stealing Hayate.

Welcome to Hinamizawa, enjoy the ride!

If you end up liking the series' style and can bear with reading through visual novels, then you might want to check Umineko out. There's actually an anime adaptation of it, but it was so bad and so poorly received that it only ended up covering half of the source material before being put off for good.

Also, remember that after the first Higurashi anime there's another one covering the later arcs.

It's a simple tale but once they get the central pair set up their chemistry really makes the show, unfortunately a lot of that set up is Anime RomCom 101 and can get pretty cheesy. For me that point came after ep 10 with Subaru's training and now I'm on tenterhooks for the next episode week by week.

SAO Abridged - 10

SWE seriously knocked it out of the park with Yui. The way Kirito and Asuna's relationship with her developed is 9001x superior to the source material. They were initially
using her as a pawn for their bizarre relationship mindgames, to the point of trying to buy more kids for her.

Her
justification for moving in with Kirito and Asuna
is hilarious, yet makes actual sense.

Damn, I was looking forward to watch this, but it was taken by Sony...
