Ultra Street Fighter IV |OT| What is old is new once again

Bought all the costumes because ynot.

Elena's is okay, don't really care for it all too much over her regular.

Ryu's is really cool. Yun/Yang/Fei all look kinda the same.

Hugo's is good, Gief's is really good as well.

There's an Akuma color that if played on Volcanic Rim.. let's just say colour blind people HATE him.

Incase you guys do not see it, USFIV PS4 complete horror costume pack mispriced and only 20p on UK PS store, at least one other guy said is a price error in another SCEE region, so if you part of SCEE, try your luck.

https://store.playstation.com/#!/en...pack/cid=EP9000-CUSA01839_00-USF40HORCOMCOS0P

Blast, missed it.

I'm still amazed that, 8 years later, I had hoped the PS4 version would be the version with everything... and more DLC comes out.

Shame that we didn't get it free like Japan did.

Shame that we didn't get it free like Japan did.

Again, there was some sort of widespread misinterpretation of the Japanese closed beta test web site. Only the selected closed beta testers got a pack, and it was just one sub-set of 5 characters, not the $20 complete pack.

Capcom's not going to give away a $20 DLC complete pack like that to everybody. They're not that generous. So, those Japanese beta testers didn't really get anything that great because it costs much more to buy packs separately to get everyone.

They do seem to have been sitting on these things since February, but if it helps fund SFV, it doesn't bother me too much. These packs do seem to have a lot of content with all the colors for each one.

Anyone down to play this on 360? I'm tired of always looking for people, just wanna run some sets. Don't care what skill level you are, just asking for good sportsmen. I can play Rolento, Yang, Gouken, M. Bison, Dee-Jay, and Poison pretty decently.

You in Europe? I'm down for some games if so.

As much as certain parts of this game have grown on me, the mashing leniency is just fucking dumb. Go for a tick throw? MASH. Go for a feint setup? MASH. Overhead on wake-up? MASH.

Don't get me wrong, I'm an old school player who relies strictly on fundamentals and non-OS mind games/guesses. But this forces me to play so damn safe against players who just mash. Get knockdown, go for safe chip, back off, wait for AA, and repeat. It gets boring even for me. I don't even bother with one-frame links at all even though I can do them without plinking.

SF5 needs to be closer to ST in terms of reversal priority. At least then you couldn't mash like an idiot and have your reversal come out 100% of the time. Sorry, the input leniency on reversals is absolutely a bad design choice. Just fucking terrible.

Really depends on the character/player you're going against. If I know the player is random, I'll usually wait a few frames after their wakeup/reversal window to start pressing buttons.

But how do you bait someone who ALWAYS mashes? All jokes aside, I'm not having an issue beating these shitty players. But some of the matches end up being very stressful. Either way, reversal leniency in SF4 is shit. Don't know who thought it was such a great idea when the core of the game is based around hit-confirms and one-frame links.

Dont play online. When people do this offline you can kind of just make them feel like an idiot when you start racking up 10+ game win streaks on them and you can hear their stick everytime they mash and punish with full ultras etc.

Beat their DPs with your own DPs.

Repeat until dead or blocking

Lol meaty dps are like the most disrespectful thing you can do. I love it.

This use to be apart of my game plan when I use to play Seth before Ultra. He has a SPD so nobody wants to sit still, especially DP characters. So whenever I have 2 bars I'll just keep doing it until the 2 hit confirm tells me to FADC into SPD. I think my record is 5 before my opponent finally blocked.

Even for me that's some dirty shit. I love it.

Crossup empty jump spd works every time.

But I was sad when they removed a lot of Seth's BS. Guess I'm cheap as fuck..

I picked this up when it was cheap and I don't really do fighting games so I'm a complete amateur at this. I've been playing it on the easiest level to get used to and it doesn't matter what I do, I just can't beat Seth at the end.

I appreciate that it's probably nothing to do with the game at all and just down t me being useless.

I'm just wondering if people have any hints to beat him? Bearing in mind that I'm really bad at the game.I know that it's a good game and I don't like the idea just giving up on it and I don;t really have the time hours and hours practicing.

Been a while since I did an arcade run, but I beat hardest with a bunch of characters some time ago.

Seth does full focus when you're just sitting back in neutral often. Jump and hit him with a full combo at the right time. Or just ultra or dragon punch it. Or use multi-hit attacks to break the focus. Or backdash out of it. Just don't sit there.

Press throw when he teleports unless he threw a fireball beforehand, this almost always either throws him or he techs it from what I recall.

Jumping at the start of the match works most of the time I think, he likes to do the stretchy arms.

Don't try to throw him too often when he's not teleporting bc he will SPD you.

If he sucks you win his vortex attack, Dragon Punch and he will get hit very very often.

He will do a random Ultra sometimes, punish it if you can.

Don't throw fireballs when he has EX meter, he will do his EX kick thing through it every time.

Don't jump on him most of the time, he will usually uppercut. Jump *near* him and his uppercut will whiff usually.

Thanks everybody, hopefully I'll be able to spend a bit more time on it tomorrow and try things out. :)

EDIT:
Also, I've been thinking of picking up a Hori Fighting Commander 4. What do people think of them?

I remember someone saying that you can pick gief and easily clear arcade mode just by mashing lariat.

You can, 3P and the AI blocks the first couple hits and opens up to be hit by the rest. Even on hardest difficulty.

Except for Cammy, AI Cammy will blow that shit up.

Here is my farewell tournament to SF4. It'll be this Friday at 8PM EST. Prize will be a Season pass on the Steam version of the game. Originally I said I would do PS4 and PC, but I'm buying the game myself, getting a season pass, Valentines day is coming, and so on. I'm sorry but I'll only be doing PC since it seems to be more well received among you guys.

Rules
-Single elimination 3/5
-Random Select w/Edition Select included
-Must select random select regardless of whether you win or lose
-16 player cap
-US/Canada only
-If you can't be there at that time and day then please don't enter
-GF will be FT5 Random Select

During GF each player will have one opportunity to pick any character they want, but only one at a time. Both guys can't do it at the same time and the one that does this must choose first. I know this part sounds kind of ridiculous and is making this sound more like a game show, but whatever I feel like it :p. As for the cap, I want it to be 16 because I don't want any byes. I'll participate myself in order to fill the cap if necessary. But if it's a low number like 9 or 10 then we'll do 2/3 double elimination instead but keep the FT5 GF with no losers in that.

I know some of you guys want to play for real but I'm not interested in that. I want to throw some random factor in so that luck is a key factor in determining the winner. Including Edition Select makes things even more random and interesting IMO. I hope you guys can have fun with this and may the best man win. Click the link below to register.

I would join but I don't have a good enough PC to run USF4 (at consistent 60 fps i should say). Is anyone going to try and run ranbats for SF5?

Looks like it's just me and beef

Then you and Beef must do a FT10. But seriously I think registration stays open till the start time on Friday. I will change the rules if the number of participants is pretty low. Maybe I'll even choose to go round robin if their are only 5-6 guys total.

It should stay open until the TO decides to close it and start the thing, or if the cap is reached, so don't worry. Just make sure to advertise.

Sorry for the bumb

I don't have any version of Ultra Street fighter 4 only vanilla and arcade.
It got a discount on PS4 in Europe. I'm not sure if I should buy it on PS4 or try to find a cheap version for 360.

I don't play competitive but sometimes I like to play online.
Or should I just buy SF 5 instead?
