Video of a group of black people beating a white person for voting Trump is terrible

Someone is screaming "He voted for Trump!", he must have a sticker on his car or something.

/pol/ is already having a field day with this, action like this only reinforce their ideas and justify their behavior.
So when does the oppressed get to have their behavior justified?

Innocent black and brown people are already fucked.

Shit is tough right now, but that's why we must stand even more united against division and bigotry. Beating up people will lead to the situation getting even worse. That is not a path we want to go down.

Violent behavior should never be justified, no matter what. But I guess people like to think that being a victim of oppression justifies violent behavior because it set free people from personal accountability and puts the guilt on society or the oppressor.

This really does make it even worse though, because people with prejudice views are just looking for examples to justify their awful thoughts.

So it's even negative worse? Lol. Get outta here with that shit. These are individuals. They don't represent any movement. It's just people being violent. It's not like they have a candidate openly supporting violence.

Bigots will always justify their awful thoughts, and they don't even need to be real to do so. This is because people with prejudice are horrible human beings and will never likely change if they have to wait for a video on their Facebook feed to do it for them.

Edit:

Attention:

Folks, Trump won. You don't have to use "thugs" anymore.

This is an isolated incident right?

OR do blacks still have that hive thing going where they represent all negros and the democratic party?

Hard to tell by this thread, and the excitement to find anything to associate with "proving trump right" Whatever the hell that vague whistle means.
What on earth are you talking about?

Nice to see people hitting all the dog whistles. Thug, animal...good job.

As for the video, I want to see what triggered it. For all I know he got out of his car, called them niggers and other racial slurs because he felt emboldened by the vote.

There's literally nothing there to indicate they knew he voted Trump unless he told them and I doubt he told them in a pleasant way...

Even if that were true (which I highly doubt) this beating would not be justified, they even stole his car at the end and dragged him down the road while he held onto it.

Would that permit the behavior for you?

Even your hypothetical situation doesn't justify a group beating.

Hopefully these fine gentleman (and the woman) get to participate in our for profit prison industry soon!

Why do you doubt it? Do you think they saw a Trump sticker, forced him to stop, dragged him out of his car and beat him?

And I won't judge someone if they got violent after having someone randomly come up to them and start hurling racial slurs. Actions have consequences.

So instead of taking the video at face value, you're inventing a series of events to justify a brutal beating. Cool, man.

You're blatantly blaming a victim with some narrative you just pulled out of thin air.
It's good to remain critical but not like this.

In terms of large scale effect this is more worrying for America. Although it's a global issue. Whenever horrible shit happens it's equally as horrible to see the amount of support and handwaving that goes on in social media portals. 100k+ shares and tons of likes and what not. FB and Twitter are really cesspits of viewing humanity at work.

It's really a sobering reminder that GAF is not a reflection of the whole world, and you can't ban people from life for supporting or appreciating shitty actions.

Like in the other topic of crimes on the rise since the election I detest means of violence used as protest or via empowerment. However I'm also equally as depressed when I see social media metrics to show support, or at least enjoyment out of seeing violence.

Because it sounds like a Die Hard With a Vengeance scenario?

The video without context is meaningless. Why did he stop at a crosswalk, why did they mention Trump when he has no obvious signs of support?

So instead of taking the video at face value, you're inventing a series of events to justify a brutal beating. Cool, man.

I won't take a out of context video at face value and neither should anyone else.

Nice victim blaming. "For all i know"....wtf

It's not victim blaming to consider an alternative scenario to why they attacked him when there's literally no context other than 'Trump'.

if it was unprovoked, you find them, put them in jail for a long time, including the woman shouting....

and make a thing of it, this is why they are going to jail for a long time....Just like the London riots where people were getting 2 years in jail where as normally it would of just of been a fine...

You stamp down and stamp down hard, on both sides

You won't judge someone for meeting words with a fist? Ok. And not even just a first. A barrage of punches and kicks from multiple people and him being dragged off while being trapped in the car. But hey action and consequences and all that jazz. Whatever that guy said the response was far beyond anything he deserved.

Won't judge as in "this individual is of fine character" or won't judge as in "this person is legally justified".

Either way you're delusional, however I'm still curious.

Wow and even worst they pick on an old man.
It won't be long for black people beating up on some kids or baby.

Fuck off, junior.

So because you don't know the context you are making up ridiculous context yourself?

There is a reason I mentioned Die Hard with a Vengeance as in: Why the hell would some middle aged out of shape dude stop in a area were young black people walk around and suddenly start shouting racial slurs? Knowing that will get him beat up?
Nobody does that...unless you are forced by a movie villain.

Yeah maybe he was an ass, he probably had that beating coming... WTF am I reading?!

You won't judge someone for meeting words with a fist? Ok.

Why would I? If I have someone walk up to me and start attacking me verbally or otherwise, I'm not going to extend a hand of friendship and no one else would either.

Depends on what he did, if he attacked them and the state has stand your ground laws, I'm sure they'll be legally justified to some extent.

There's always a 'THEY DO IT TOO' vibe with these videos. OBVIOUSLY violence is NOT the answer and the people in the video are misguided at best(and most likely fucked up individuals all around) and need to be fully prosecuted to the extent of the law.

However, taking 3 steps back, there's only one side that's been amping up the rhetoric. Outside of being assholes, the excuse they used to attack him was because he's a Trump supporter and Trump's big proud MO is that he's racist.

Only reason Im commenting is during the cycle, in addition to videos that were found false, focusing on reverse bias incidents in a 'The left is more fucked up, violent and hateful then we are' is a big tool of the alt-right.

Even if what you just assumed is true, there's still no justification for a brutal group beating like this, defend this shit and you're part of the problem.

This is the kind of video I expected to see this week whichever way the election went. It's not even shocking to me which is a horrible feeling.

This really does make it even worse though, because people with prejudice views are just looking for examples to justify their awful thoughts.

They've had about 400 years of beating and exploiting black and brown bodies with nothing resembling a conscience or real fear of retaliation to justify and solidify their disgusting prejudiced views. The shit in this video is nasty but it's not some singular tipping point. Trump won office, we're already in the worst case scenario. This video is just going to be a beacon for all the closet racists that can't wait to scream about "animalistic thugs" and other coded language they think is going to fly under the radar here.

Seems like it's a crossing. Maybe they were crossing, he got angry at them taking too long or some shit and because he felt emboldened decided to say something.

The fact that people think this is some movie level shit tells me how little experience some of you actually have with racism in the real world.

You have absolutely no idea what happened before hand other than dude get the shit kicked out of him.
Did you read his post? Try that in a discussion of rape or other violence where the victim isn't an apparent Trump supporter and see where that gets you. Go post this the next time a video comes out of a poc getting shot by police takes place. But it's ok to wildly speculate that someone e deserved a dog like beating because reasons. Disgusting.

There's no current indication that he physically attacked them. How about answering my question under the context in which it was asked - in retaliation for a verbal or non-verbal indication that he voted Trump.

I've seen you in those same police threads doing exactly what you are lecturing me about sooo......projecting?

I'm not defending it, I'm saying I understand why someone might lash out in the face of potential racist abuse.
