I found a vagina in Watch Dogs 2 and Sony suspended me (Update: Ban lifted)

If I were him, I would call up Ubisoft customer service and/or explain what's going on. It's not like they can do anything about it, but hey, maybe he'll get a care package as an apology.

Yah. I just read about it a couple of pages back (it wasnt in the op)

Game is getting censored because of Sony.

You're looking for correlation where there doesn't have to be any.

What if someone higher up than the initial rep reviewed the case, and decided a week for posting a vagina wasn't enough?

The second note even says a moderator looked into it.

It says a moderator looked into it in the first note too. It probably was re-review in the end, but using what pretty much looks like the generic moderation message makes it kind of weird in that case. Like "We’ve made this decision based on your online activity in Live from PlayStation on 15-11-2016" even through he was suspended on the 14th.

Microsoft should send this guy an Xbox One S, a month live card, and the game. They've been killing it on pr already, so I honestly wouldn't be surprised if that wasn't already in motion.

But the shift from one week to one month is a little silly. Hopefully the noise about the situation brings some clarity.

Considering MS will ban you for having a swear word in your bio, I doubt they would handle this any better than Sony have and would just open themselves up to bad PR if they do a similar thing (ban people for stupid shit) in the future.

Kinda ticked off this is getting patched out.
I hope whoever modelled the vagina doesnt get canned because of this.

Is this going to be a case where I need to buy Watch Dogs 2 right now before they recall it and print new discs with the patch?

It's a case of, if you want to see that stuff, get ready to unplug the ethernet cable from your PS4.

If this really is Sony's mandate, I don't expect them to foot the bill to recall physical copies across 3 platforms.

I do think there's a valid point to be made about children seeing adult-rated content via the sharing function. We all know that kids play 18+ etc rated games - and sometimes even buy them from stores that are content to break the law.

If Sony finds the sharing of adult-rated content unacceptable, then it should responsibly provide an opt-in setting for such content - whether graphic violence or sexual images, or adult themes or language.

If content is rated adult-only, then the same rules should apply regardless of the exact nature of said content.

That's a really weak argument.

"We all know little kids play Rated M games. Therefore Rated M games should be less M."

Nintendo needs to come back & stomp them again with the Switch just like they did to them with the Wii.
LMAO, I don't see that happening any time soon.

Man Sony deserves a lot of shit for this, they should talk it over with Ubisoft, not on the user who actually exposed this, let alone double down on the punishment.

From what i read Sony's reaction was very low. The way i see it OP did not deserve the ban in the first place let alone extend it.

Sony you sucked on this one.

It's not censorship, it's localization.

Also the company is doing it themselves so it can't be censorship.

We also are working with our first-party partners to ensure that players can continue to play and share all content from the game within the bounds of the first parties’ respective codes of conduct.

I say this is more on Sony and probably the fact they don't have control over shared clips on the system. Maybe there should be an age question before selecting a clip from rated m games. They are rated m for a reason and devs shouldn't have to patch out games for the sake of making them less mature

The problem is that if you use the #PS4Share hashtag you need to be aware that what you are sharing is getting to lots of ppl, teens and kids included.

next time dont add that hashtag and you'll be good to share whatever you want with your friends

I'm glad this is continuing to get play, though I'm disappointed the media outlets don't seem to be updating with the suspension being extended in retaliation for bringing this to the public eye.

Seriously, I was considering buying a Pro and PSVR, but no more.

I'm growing really tired of Sony's bullshit lately. They're definitely pushing me back towards Xbox for my console choice.

Yep. Hearing about the Pro still being noisy, the refusal of EA Access and now this. I think I'll just wait for Scorpio. I never thought I'd say that.

Probably shouldn't have made a thread until the ban was over to avoid them doing an extension.

Also I'm surprised the nudists got past the ESRB given American Puritanism.

Wait, what?

We have to get Sony's permission to make a thread on Neogaf about being banned from their Network due to sharing content from a legally purchased game played on their system? We should somehow take their feelings into account????

I think this is the part where 2016 finally breaks me. Everything about this situation is so insane that I cannot process it.

Hope you can get through this OK, Goron2000. The only thing you did was expose Sony's lack of reasonable policy.

No, but he was banned for violating their terms of service. Waiting the week and then complaining about how stupid the ban was is better than complaining while the ban is there, because Sony will just review and extend the ban as has happened.

It's absolutely ridiculous that you can get banned for sharing a screenshot from a game that Sony allowed to be released on their console.
No it's not. The game and the social aspect of their network are two different things.

What's ridiculous i'd that Ubisoft is altering the game.

Meanwhile, Mortal Kombat X took a screenshot of Cassie punching a scrotum so hard it ruptures.

Poor form, Sony.

Violence is allowed, guts dropping out of a character are allowed, gunshots to the head are allowed. Kids aren't affected by those, didn't you know? So who cares if that shared content ends up on their wall.

Fuck you Sony and your stupidity and hipocrisy.

Sony where G̶r̶e̶a̶t̶n̶e̶s̶s̶ bans awaits! Dont think a ban was really necessary.

Sure, tweeting a headshot with pieces of brain and eyeballs flying in the camera with an over done Depth of field effect and some tasteless hashtag, is ok for Sonys corporate image, but a shot of some sexual organs is detrimental.

This industry is a bag of hypocrits.

Even excluding the stupidity of the ban, going to public forums and complaining about the said ban should not factor one iota in their review policy to extend the ban.

None.

Zero.

Point to me where in the TOS it says "If we ban you, you better STFU on public forums about it. Say anything about it and we will mess you up further"

I hope this gains traction and further coverage. It's ridiculous.
