I found a vagina in Watch Dogs 2 and Sony suspended me (Update: Ban lifted)

No, but he was banned for violating their terms of service. Waiting the week and then complaining about how stupid the ban was is better than complaining while the ban is there, because Sony will just review and extend the ban as has happened.
He shouldn't have to step lightly over something like this. There's no reason for the extension other than a spiteful Sony employee, it shouldn't have happened.

Isn't it likely that Ubi patching out the vag is to appease the ESRB? I mean, from what I understand they sort of run on an honor system. Publishers present what content might be considered "objectionable" in a game and it gets rated based on that. If these viewable vaginas were not initially presented to them than maybe they are just covering their own asses so to not end up with a Hot Coffee situation. I mean the idea that violence is okay and sex is bad is not something you can really pin on Ubi or Sony. That's pretty much western/American culture and everybody, from video game developers to movie studios have to play by those backward ass rules.

I hope video game news outlets are covering this. Sony extending a ban because the user dared to go public is some extremely dirty stuff.

The ESRB description mentions full frontal nudity

Even excluding the stupidity of the ban, going to public forums and complaining about the said ban should not factor one iota in their review policy to extend the ban.

None.

Zero.

Point to me where in the TOS it says "If we ban you, you better STFU on public forums about it. Say anything about it and we will mess you up further"

I hope this gains traction and further coverage. It's ridiculous.

Exactly this. If he tried some way to circumvent the ban then its like okay you deserve it. But policing what users do on their social media should have zero fucking place in how they police their own services.

According to the description from the ESRB website, they already knew that there was full-frontal in the game. What might be a glitch is that Ubi didn't intend for the nudity to present outside of the one mission that takes place in a nudist colony, but it's not comparable to Hot Coffee in this case.

Agreed. This doesn't benefit any of us as consumers. The gaming press should understand how big a story this is.

If the content is part of the game there should be no penalty for sharing it. People shouldn't be permitted to post personal dick pics and porn, etc, but non-modded game content should totally be fair play.

If Ballad of Gay Tony were playable on PS4, there shouldn't be a penalty for streaming or sharing the scene showing male genitals.

Sony should retract the ban and apologize.

Well I guess that's that. Bizarre behavior by Sony then. I guess they take offense to a gratuitous screen shot of it, but that's such a stupid hill to die on for them. Someone with some sense at Sony needs to remedy this shit quick.

Wow, what kind of BS is this? Sony extended the ban because you posted the story on GAF? I mean... wtf do they think they are?

Has that been verified? You guys are kind of writing the story as you go. The ban was wack, but none of know the details and you're just yelling crazy shit out as if it's fact.

Yes they do, but it's harder now that Ubi in an almost apologetic move are patching it out.

I dearly wish Ubi had said 'the game is rated appropriately for the content, Sony this is on you'

I was reading a couple of other comments, but maybe those were wrong? What's the current theory as to why the ban was extended?

Why is this a big story? Someone got banned for breaking their service rules. Not a big deal.

Someone got banned for posting an in game screenshot of a mature rated content game. Out of all the gory, graphic, murderous content that gets shared, a part of the female body was too much for Sony.

The company who made the game vows to patch the body part out and then the OP, for reasons unknown just after the OP posts on GAF, gets their ban quadrupled.

Fuck. This.

Maybe, but it is the most likely reason. Not many companies the size of Sony can re-review all their bans or complaints a day after they've already been looked at considering the amount of incidents they have to deal with.

Someone had to have specifically picked OP out of the pile again.

Long story short, you shouldn't have shared it publicly.

Share it privately fine, but either way you broke the rules of conduct.

I'm sure they will look at this issue on Ubisoft's end as well, that's kind of stupid of them.

They are. But at the same time, we don't even know if the extension was retaliatory or not. Could be something as simple as the case was re-examined.

Don't get me wrong, a month ban is seriously fucking dumb on Sony's part and OP should have gotten a warning first.

Maybe, meaning you don't know. If Sony is seriously scouring gaf for complaint threads and banning based on that, then fuck em, but you're pretty much pulling stuff up out of thin air. I'd like to know what caused them to extend the ban, but that whole story sounds absurd tbh.

Hey OP ever consider that the guys at Sony might just be pedantic and up the ban because of it? Its clearly a vulva, not just the vaginal opening.

What is stupid of Ubisoft? ESRB was aware, it is appropriately rated.

What about that is not shitty?
The month ban is the only shit part but again nobody has an answer on why it was. The overreactions here don't help anything and really make some here look reaching.

Hopefully the op will get unbanned because a month is definitely insane.

I think the big thing that may be holding back content filtering on share is publishers and the platform holder understanding that underage kids buy a sizable percentage of their M-Rated products. Nudity or sexual content is the only thing that triggers a response.

Just seeing the image now.

1) bravo to you OP and your intrepid research efforts and bravery for bringing this important discovery to the world.

2) Sony's puritanical censorship is offensive.

3) those are some serious roast beef curtains. Wowsers.

Poor form Sony. Don't extend the ban. What hell are you doing!

But this whole saga has been funny as hell, I'm apologize OP, I know you probably don't see the comedy in this. Hopefully, Someone at Sony comes to their senses.

BTW has anyone tweeted to Shu about this?

Well, it's not just GAF they have to scour. This thread and story has hit multiple major news sites. Someone at Sony has seen this.

Whether or not it's retaliatory I'll admit we don't know, but this extension coming after it hit the news sites does give the appearance of it, which either way makes Sony look bad regardless of whether they purposely targeted OP or not.

I'm glad everyone can agree this situation is absurd and ludicrous in the first place though, and that OP should never have been banned.

Sony shouldny have allowed the game on their system if they dont want people sharing in game content with a system wide feature. Full stop.

Wow. Fuck Sony. That's fucking shitty to randomly extend it. Someone probably got upset with you exposing how trash they are when it comes to customers.

I think the best thing here is for everyone to start posting pictures of brutal murders in games to PSN with the hashtag #banmesony

That will at least get some attention paid to the situation. Sony clearly wants this to be swept under the rug.

Quoting myself for exposure. You cannot be not okay with human body parts and simultaneously okay with violent murder.
