The Kiseki / Trails (of the Sky/Zero/Ao/Sen/Etc) Community Thread: SPOILERTAGS OR DIE

It's pretty short so I wouldn't say avoid it

but no it's not a very good adaption of the games by any means

I still find it hilarious how absurdly damage/turn inefficient most of the high-tier arts are versus just sticking to Blue Impact/other mid-tier arts thanks to how the game calculates damage.

I never looked up if this changed in SC, but yeah base damage between tiers of spells being additive sure is something. What kills me is how low the difference in values ends up being lol. It's something like a flat 100 something damage increase.

That series is worth it for that scene of Estelle charging in on
Walter and getting kicked in the stomach.

I don't think they changed it at all, lol. It sort of makes Kloe's supposed weakness in her locked water slots pointless too. Though it does [late game SC dungeon spoilers]
make some of the tower dungeons a little more annoying if you're too used to face-rolling things with Blue Impact. Luckily Olivier can pick up the elemental slack anyways.

Yeah part of the reason I never bothered even checking is because of Kloe. The only formula for damage you need to know in SC is that it is equal to Kloe + Duende Slippers .

It's not impossible, but I wouldn't count on it happening anytime soon. There are too many barriers to them happening.
Thanks for the answer!

Well, looks I'm going to need a new Vita/PS4 and PS3 to replace my busted launch model. Looking forward to completing this series sometime next year. There are worse problems to have :p

I'm planning on getting TiTS FC during this Steam sale but I had a quick question about the related games in the universe.

I know that the Trails of Cold Steel games are available on PS Vita and PS3 (and PS4 for the 3rd one?) but I was wondering what you guys/gals think about the possibility of those games coming to PC?

I'm planning on getting a PS Vita/PS4 at some point so it's not a dealbreaker either way; I just like to consolidate my series per platform/ecosystem where I can. Thanks in advance!

Start playing TitS FC and SC. By next year, Steam will also have TitS the 3rd available.

Then you can play CS I and CS II in the Vita. By then CS III will probably have launched in Japan and, I hope, we will get it in english in 2018.

I just encountered Kilika, I think? It's been a while since FC/SC. Another person of interest to keep track of.
Damn I think I'm going to start taking notes at some point so I don't keep forgetting all the little teases/noteworthy things that are happening.

I also love that sidequest you mentioned. The grandma went 0 to 100 real quick. One of my fav quest NPC

With Randy you get even more set up with his character and the payoff for that chapter.

And its one step closer to get THE best double team craft in the game/duology.

And his suit is pimpin, style game too strok

Yup. Also finished the 4th day of it super touching, shit got really emotional. Makes me cheer really hard for the best
bracer duo.
Also I actually picked Ellie*hides in a corner* mostly because I've already layed out my road to platinum. Randy and Tio have to wait.
I'm probably doing 2 more rush playthroughs after this so I can easily cruise through Nightmare with op equipment and quartz in my third playthrough.

Right now I'm pretty sure I'll end my nightmare run with Randy. The true bromance of 2016 get lost FFXV.

Also what
Garcia Ross was part of Zephyr? Dude seems far less chill than Xeno and Leo. Kind of paints a broader picture about the Zephyr boss given that Garcia seems quite different in type but still followed Rudger.

:D I don't doubt it all the more reason to pick the lesser choices first time around.
I end my kiseki experience always with the nightmare run which I regard as my canon run.

No kidding

Best character Estelle doing what a best character does by best charactering all over th place

Hello, 911, I think this man might have kidnapped someone. Yes, 17, female... her most distinguishing feature is her extreme dullness and lack of appeal.

:p

Oh Christ, you ain't gonna survive SC. You're going to die smiling.

Holy shit chapter 3 of Zero, what an obscenely long and great chapter.
Randy is the son of the leader of the Red Constellation? So that's why the name seemed so familiar. Holy shit now I just want him to meet Fie and more Zephyr people. I wonder where the dude ranks if he gets serious.

Also lol way to throw me for a loop of all the things where I expected Zero to go story wise giving you a little green haired girl was not one of them. I kind of expected maybe to have the endstory be super political with the introduction of Hartman and maybe being about gang wars between Hei Yue and Ruvache but then it introduces and totally unknown quantity.

Kilika getting action was fucking great, really one of the coolest characters all around.
The grand escape moment after holding Garcia of was such a great camaraderie moment.

Yep

Now you see why Randy going with you should've happend now don't you. I went in blind not expected the best choice and I got it. KeA is adorable too, and it was quite a turn to the story when she gets in. And yea Killia and Lecther being a part of this chapter was good as well. Espcailly Lecther and his troll-tastic nature.

I have a question tho.......why was Wazy there again? I forgot why he was at the auction.

He was being a host for some young ladies. Called in as an entertainer.

Don't know why but I thought this was about FC chapter 3. Lucky that I didn't get a worse spoiler than the thing about Randy. For while I was trying to work out who Randy was and how I missed such an important bit of story. Partly me being an idiot but naming which game you're discussing wouldn't hurt.

I second this . Chapter 3 is a little too vague. especially for me who is currently in chapter 2 of SC right now.

Yep basically what Nyoro said.
While Lechter was extremely amusing I didn't quite get why he was attending. Assuming his "made up" story was true I must have missed why that would be an event that Gillias needed to theoretically attend. Aside from that I assume he is also there to prepare Crossbell for the takeover.

Thanos acquires the fully powered Infinity Gauntlet in The Avengers: Infinity War, but loses when all the superheroes team up together to stop him.
I thought Emma would be culled for CS3, after seeing that, maybe not.
Emma is one of the characters guaranteed to show up.
We haven't even seen Witch Land yet

So, uh, about that Trails of Cold Steel difficulty curve...
What the hell is going on with the Grahf ~Seeker of Power~ -looking mofo boss fight at the end of Chapter 6? Wiping out my entire team in a single move feels a bit bullshit. I get that I'm supposed to use a very wide formation, but his attack covers what feels like half of the battlefield, and I don't think there's even a warning that it's coming up?

It's a bit baffling, especially when 90% of the chapter was piss easy before that fight.

I died like 6-7 times to that boss.

Don't be afraid to use the "Move" command. Positioning is far more valuable in that fight than trying to get a hit in.

Couple of things to keep in mind:

-Enter the fight with as much CP as possible. You never know when you'll need an emergency S-break.
-If you don't destroy the bombs he sets up (using CP skills with high range like Gale) then you're absolutely fucked.
-The boss is resistant to a ton of status, but he's vulnerable to Faint. Spam moves that cause Faint, like Angie's.. (well I forget the name because it's a looking move) and Rean's Flame Impact.
-Positioning is God here. It's worth wasting turns, moving out of the way.
-It should go without saying, but the sooner you take out those giant robots, the better

Yeah, I got that.
The previous boss fight taught me that nicely, with his s-craft being a big single line.

Like I said, the issue with the masked dude is that his area of effect is ridiculously huge. I don't get how I'm supposed to both attack him with my close range characters yet have them dispersed far enough so he doesn't kill 3/4 of my team at a moment's notice?

That was basically my plan for my last attempt. Max CP, prevent him from destroying the bombs, focusing on the flankies. Still got destroyed in two turns after his nuke.

Will try spamming faint next time, but it's gonna be tough taking down the robots in a timely fashion with half the team on faint duty.

One thing that I forgot to ask about Zero/Ao so just read the spoilers if you finish those games.

Did they ever explained the origin for Wazy Stigma ?

I am almost finishing CS 2 and that was a thought that came up when remembering the Crossbell part.

Figured this might be the easiest place. I'm the current lead for the Trails series in the West. I usually try to put together random blogs on the XSEED tumblr with interesting topics or possibly interesting facts on localization choices throughout. I have a few I'd still like to do on the Cold Steel arc post-launch and some planned for 3rd in the future, but figured since this is the thread with Trails players specifically, I could ask: do you have any specific questions you would want answered or fleshed out in a blog? Barring stuff like Zero/Ao/Sen III when, because that stuff has already been answered a million billion times by now and the answer hasn't changed. I'll collect questions where I can and answer a bunch later.

Unless this sort of Q&A thing isn't allowed, lol. I'll delete in that case. Just thought it might be nice to ask directly rather than try to think up random things on my own (though I still fully plan on doing that, too)!

I'm playing TiTS for the first time and I was wondering if there were any differences in the characterization for some of the characters between the NA and JP version? You mentioned how characters like Rean and Laura were tweaked in CS, and I was wondering if that applied to TiTS as well.

You guys were actually pretty thorough when it came to questions regarding CS & Sky so i'm actually struggling to think of questions, haha.

Trying to beat the last chapter in SC on my day off today. I hadn't been using Kloe all game and she got 9999 off one weak enemy and 9 levels at once, it was pretty funny. I like their experience system.

How long does the chapter take typically? I was figuring 4-5 hours if I don't get super stuck on a boss.
