I'm way into this, and I hope some interesting things develop from the community. Of course the thought of cheaters online is no good, but when I see this device the first thing I think of is Fire Pro Wrestling on PS2 and how cool it was to get custom characters with a Pro Action Replay. Thats the kind of stuff I'm hoping for.

Online MP on PS3 is way, way worse than PC where hacks are concerned. There's games where you can't go two matches without playing against someone who's egregiously hacking on PS3.

One of the best things about the early PS3's life was when there were no trophies.
There was a site where you could just download a game save and bam..
I've never been one who liked the grind in Gran Turismo..but with shared saves I was able to enjoy using every car....cars I never would've been able to play with, unless I changed my entire life.
But after Trophies...this feature was blocked by Devs (understood why).
Was great for Sports games that didn't have official licenses.
Years later Game Genie released, and man thank god.
BUUUUT, that ALL being said...if they can't find a way to block this from exploiting online games...then yeah I'm on the opposite side of the fence. I play too many online games which I'm emotionally invested in. I'd hate to be even more pissed off for reasons.

I enjoy getting trophies but like... I enjoy getting trophies because I put in the work and actually complete the tasks and I go after them in games I already like playing.
I don't know how you can be proud of any gaming achievements if you just pay to literally get the trophy.

I'm less concerned about offline play and more about online play. PS3 was a cheat haven due to editable save files.
I don't think all of the excitement for this is because of trophies...
Why have them in games then if you can't 100% them, totally pointless....of course you may already find them totally pointless, but some players like them (me included). I am a trophy collector, its part of gaming that I enjoy...so I can't move on
Also it might also allow me to get that final trophy on Mad Max that would require at least another 60 hours due to poor design where you need to get the challenges, if you complete the game you are unable to do it because none of the events where you can get them reset.
But what's the point if you used someone else's save file to unlock the trophy just like everyone else. Kind of defeats the purpose, if I can use a cheat to get trophies then I wouldn't want them.

They do. Depending on the title. Some will have saves set-up for the trigger condition.

Perhaps it also allows one to change the game's id? Say from The Witcher 3 to The Witcher 3 GOTY edition.
It could also possibly allow game saves to be moved between different users.
And with the latter it might be kinda handy if it does work for trophies so you could actually create a new account, move all your saves AND trophies and then continue using that account.
Though that indeed would also mean one can mess with the trophies, hmmm

This is exactly my thought process. I hope it cannot be used online. I'd love to be able to give myself certain things in specific single player games, but I have a feeling the pros of this out weight the cons significantly. I am going to bet one new firmware update from Sony breaks this thing.

Cheating is a ymmv kind of thing. People do it offline? Who cares. Online, then that is shitty. Diablo 3 is largely ruined on consoles online because of all the hacked items (hacked on PS3 saves, imported into Ps4 Diablo 3).
As long as devs are on the ball and ban MP cheaters it's fine.

Even though i dont use cheat engines I still pretty much agree with this. Don't care about trophies particularly, or what someone does with their single player game. But things like hacked gems in Diablo 3 hurt the game for legitimate players.

You can bet external hard drive support did take its sweet time as Sony were doing everything and anything to exploit it (internal testing). That's more to do with a fear of piracy than cheating. However, cheating these days gets devs in a hump because of how many like to sell microtransactions for cutting corners. Even in SP.
I remember when I made a thread about finding an exploit in Ryse and people called it theft because you could pay for it instead.

Why is everyone so down on this? Do we all hate Action Reply codes too? If someone else wants to skip a task or section they consider boring, that's on them. And as far as ruining microtransaction... screw freaking microtransactions.
Depending on how much this costs, I would consider using it on future Project Diva games so I can skip right to Extreme difficulty.
