I realize this is the same image as the other thread, but I don't feel like making two images.

Also expect it to have all the microtransactions in the world:

Update:

On the call they just said it was gameplay roots, and said the space setting didn't resonate as well.

World War II, baby.

Likely they just mean ditching the sci-fi mobility stuff, since it's had a mixed reception among the Modern Warfare-loving crowd.

so....WW2?
This is Sledgehammer's year- I thought that Advanced Warfare was well received enough to warrant a sequel

With COD points and sneaked in new guns after XMAS that you have to gamble to get, Microshit RNG is here to stay.

Considering the three-year development cycles that the games have now, they must've read the tea leaves and determined this early on. Given the sliding popularity of the series since it went futuristic, they might have been right all along.

Of course, since the games still sell bajillions, it's all relative, but the excitement just hasn't been there for a while. A "throwback" with the kind of budget that the series gets these days could turn a lot of heads.

When is CoD typically revealed?

In May to coincide with the NBA playoff schedule.

Sucks since Advanced Warfare has the best Future COD.

Would have loved to see a sequel.

BLOPS3 and IW killed the near future / double jumping scene though. Too much, too soon.

Wherever Battlefield goes, Call of Duty follows.

Battlefield has become the leader of console fps games.

If WWII, is the game about sitting down and talking to the nazis?

Giving that punching, much less shooting the seems to be an issue these days.

Yep. Back to basics but with loot boxes that they say are cosmetic but then after a few months sneak in game-altering stuff like AW, Blops 3 and MW:R. On top of the expensive season pass!

Considering how they fucked up Modern Warfare Remastered by adding Supply Drops and new weapons there is nothing that Activision could do to get me to buy anything they publish again.

Cool, I guess.

It's kind of funny how WW2 was so oversatured that it became underused again.

Been pretty obvious they were going back to the past for a while. I think it's needed but might be a little too late to get those who quit the franchise back.

Good news though.

Without a full new engine, it's still going to suck.

The ship has long sailed on a good Call of Duty campaign unless they do a serious overhaul.

Every year it's the same thing, x amount of people say "first COD I'm buying in 10 years!" then y amount of people say "first year I'm not buying COD!" The game comes out, people say it's "actually good again" for a week, then realize that nope, it actually sucks. Then they wait for the next one and hope again that it will revive the series' relevance.

Please be WW2 again. I want to hear the ping of an M1 Garand reload, the throaty roar of an STG 44, the tinny rat-a-tat of an MP40 and the heavy blast of a Long Lee Enfield.

I want to throw stick grenades, to throw myself into the dirt upon hearing the terrifying thunder of an MG42 opening up and to sweat bullets when a King Tiger barrels through a hedgerow.

Enough of the Sci Fi crap. Especially as they didn't even do proper Sci Fi. They just took Modern Warfare and added jet packs. It didn't seem to matter how Sci Fi they made it, you were still using bullet firing SMGs, assault rifles, sniper rifles and shotguns.
