Tower Theme: Monster Hunter - Tbh this whole post could just be filled with a MH soundtrack anthology, but I feel like highlighting this one because it manages to create a sense of tension and enormous scale in a game series that bombards you with it nonstop. Every small detail from the airy background noise creating the sense of size, the high pitched howling and whistles that add that spice of mystical tension, on top of deliciously simple but powerful percussion and strings. Also everyone needs a bit of HOO HAH in their lives (which Sakurai seemed to forget when he annihilated Diddy Kong). Just a little bit of everything nice without going overboard, truly makes you feel like the battle is something different from your usual hunts.

Cipher Admin Battle: Pokémon Colosseum
- This game easily has some of my favourite tracks in the series, and this one is such a great boss battle theme because of how it takes its time to build up the tension, even with a false start. Knowing that fighting a full team of pokémon would take time with all the animations etc, they took advantage to really build that sense of tension into a sudden explosion of energy.

I get kinda carried away talking about videogame music, but I really can't help it.

Oh shit my childhood!

Xenogears - Awakening

Like other final battle musics before it, it did an excellent job bringing back past musical themes heard throughout the game. But in this case there's is a real sense of finality, and high stakes. I can recall just sitting there and listening to the music for a while before I even started fighting.

Zant Battle from TP. It's a slow burn, gets progressively crazier the longer the fight goes on. It's like a messed up mash up of previous boss fights. I never really see this one posted so I thought it might be cool to mention!

No More Heroes is the king of this for me with all its boss themes but the best boss theme is Philistine for Margaret.

She's singing the song to Travis and its important to their conversations. The lyrics are from her point of view about Travis.

On YouTube if you search No More Heroes ost, soundtrack or song it's both the second and third song by view count. They're both close to Bad Girl's theme.

It's the song that has mattered most in any boss fight I've ever played.

It's also Catchy as Hell.

There is literally no better boss music than Ludwig the Accursed -> Ludwig the Holy Blade in all of our Earth's history, from Bloodborne

I'm not kidding, as someone who generally was indifferent to Bloodborne's and most Souls soundtracks I will fist-fight anyone who did not hear this shit when fighting him and go "HOLY SHIT" and lose their mind.

This is easily the #1 Souls song that exists. Meet me with guns at dawn if you disagree.

Yes, this. One of my favorite gaming moments ever is this music changing mid-fight.

Final Fantasy XV - Hellfire

Hoo boy...gets me hyped every time I listen.

One of my favorite songs ever. Love how intense it gets. Probably heard it at least 50 times and it still satisfies from beginning to end (works well in my workout mix). Although I keep hearing the lyrics as "Gets us, Breakfast! Gets us, breakfast!" when the vocals first start.

I like the song for the Ch 13 boss just as much.

Yes guys, I'm talking about the Pledge of Demon from Yakuza 0. This is one of the best original musics for a boss fight that I've heard in years!

Just listen to this amazing track.
Yakuza 0 - Daisaku Kuze theme (Pledge of Demon ~怨魔の契り~)

The pre-fight splash must be included because the timing on it really elevates the music

https://youtu.be/Y6AuvA-tl3Y?t=91

Like I said in the OT, the boss splashes are some of the most hype moments in gaming.

Destiny tricked me.

I always thought that the final boss would be playing Stairway to Heaven. Or any Led Zeppelin song since the Live Action Trailer was amazing

Bungie fooled me not only with the song....

I't has already been said a couple of times, but loved Bloodborne. It is the only Souls game i have played so i can't say anything about the other games, but the music turned every fight into a nightmare. I had 200 in pulse the entire time.

M. Bison (Dictator) theme in SF2

The OST is mostly upbeat, cool tunes and then Bison appears, takes off his cape, music starts and you know shit just got real. Pretty amazing moment if you experienced it back when the arcade came out.

Wow good shout, thanks for reminding me of this hidden gem.

Akuma Theme: SF2 ST 3DO - This was in Hyper SF2 as well, and it's definitely my favourite rendition of the theme. Akuma's theme is definitely about the desperate struggle for your life lol.
