Persona 5 |OT2| Someone must have been helping you go to bed early. Talk!

Once Inari, always Inari.

I loved his constant bickering with Futaba. It was a nice break from the constant "Morgana and Ryuji are the punching bags" rotation and was often much funnier and felt a lot more rooted in each character's personalities, while with those two it kinda just felt like people defaulting.

So far, and I say this as I'm nearing the end of July so I have a ways to go, but most of the slink/confidant stuff has felt like a big backwards step from Persona 3 and 4. There are some I'm liking and finding interesting, but not many.

You can do it early. And IIRC
it seemed to me like the party member social links block off for a bit until you finished the dungeon so there's no reason to wait.

Yusuke is great when he's doing comic relief, which is like the middle act of the game (by the final chunks of the game he fades into the background too much with so many cast members about). He's pretty dull outside that (especially during his intro arc), but I'd still say he's one of the better characters in the game.

I don't really get this argument. His presence is pretty uniform throughout the game, only slightly diminishing when the group shifts from the intimate 4 member + Morgana squad to the 8 member crew in the end, but he still feels present. What doesn't get mentioned enough is Yusuke's sharp, borderline cynical side which is drowned out by the Yusuke memes. He adds a pretty distinct perspective during story scenes. <--- Late October spoilers

Can't stop laughing at
Shadow Shidou's "stupid worthless masses!" line.
Been waiting for a game where a line like that is used. Just keep cracking up.

School trip
thought it was kind of meh.
They didn't do anything! And Hawaii water gets you sick?

Edit: damn, the scene right after the trip.

Is there a list or guide out there on how to get gifts from people to decorate with? I have a
poster
, a
bowl
, and I just wonder what else there might be.

This been posted yet? A software engineer went a little deeper into the UI and UX of Persona 5 than most other sites have. It's a good read, even if you only have a passing interest in graphic design.

So glad he didn't eat my lunch on this topic.
As a software engineer myself, but with much less focus on UI this was a good read, but I couldnt help but tilt my head in confusion once he started harping on the english text. Somethings were accurate, the font for names on the confidant menu's top bar, the lack of accent marks, and the quote marks not being smart (though thats incredibly nitpicky). However the main UI text for dialogue has never failed to flow nicely with the boxes while providing and engaging and inviting read. I'm 140 hours in on new game plus and not skipping anything and have liked the font there the entire time.

I've been playing it this night and just reached the point where I'm free to explore the 1st palace. I'm used to the game mechanics in general cause I played tons of P4G, but it seems to me dungeons are much bigger than before and exploring them takes much longer (what I actually don't care... I always loved this part of the game, and now they're better crafted I think this is great!). The issue though is that I bought no items to replenish SP before jumping in, and I'm running out of energy and am yet at the 4th floor.

Said that... which is the best way to replenish SP in this game? If I remember correctly, in Persona 4 there were vending machines that were useful at the beginning, and later on you could pay the fox to replenish it for you (am I right about it?). Is it the same way this time?

Rank 5 of the Death confidant gives you some of the best items related to SP in the game, bit pricey though. Sojiro will also eventually teach you to make SP recovery items.

Why does Morgana think onions would make him sick if he were a cat? Is that a thing?

First thing I see when I Google: "cat eating onions"
Onions contain an ingredient called thiosulphate which is toxic to cats and dogs. The ingestion of onions causes a condition called hemolytic anemia, which is characterized by damage to the red blood cells. Onion toxicity can cause the red blood cells circulating through your pet's body to burst.

Thanks a lot for the info! =)
Was a bit scared by the spoiler tag cause I feared to spoil some story related stuff. lol

Will focus on it then!! Are there vending machines this time for the beginning though? And are they useful as they were in P4?

On the 5th palace and am kinda bored of my Persona and none of the ones I can make interest me. Any of the DLC ones worth it? I have high Confidant rankings for Lovers, Death, Chariot and Priestess, Moon, Magician off the top of my head.

TBH it has nothing to do with what interests you. Persona get replaced so quickly, you shouldn't be clinging on to any in particular. Use powerful persona that cover needed elements for each dungeon.

Yeah true just not a fan of the current designs of my lineup lol

Aaaand done. That took a while!

Overall it was a fantastic experience, I enjoyed it all the way through and was well worth the (VERY) long wait. I have my complaints obviously, but I'm confident they'll be adressed in the next game. Some of the bad spots seem quite obvious to the point they shouldn't even be a thing, like no integration of social links (let alone romantic ones) in the plot, more refined dungeons with least repeated puzzles, etc, they're kinda understandable due to the making of the new engine taking most of the development time.

Some complaints would be

-
Morgana's very existence has no good justification. I mean I like him, but he's a cat simply because they wanted a mascot character like Teddie but couldn't think of a good excuse unlike with Teddie. So he's the incarnation of humanity's hope? Where is hope represented in a cartoony black cat? What in Morgana's personality symbolizes hope? What's the deal with those red herring nightmares of his? Yeah, really poor all around, but at least he was likeable

-
Akechi's character was a great,
much superior take on Adachi... Up until the point where he dies and he gets completely ruined. So damn lame and out of place considering how terrible of a person he is and the terrible things he did to the team, ugh

-The usual anime sexualization nonsense and some conflicting themes in the game

-Some bosses sucked, namely palace 1, 3 and 4's

-The ending was a bit underwhelming and they postponed it too much after the final battle itself

-
The Igor twist was genius, but the whole evil deity thing felt extremely shoehorned this time compared to P3 and 4.
And it doesn't help that the part of the plot around it was basically Persona 2 except worse. They also hyped up Ladenza way too much for such a whatever character and reveal

-Localization is very poor, but the english VA is so stellar that it somehow mitigates it for the most part

I think that's more or less all of it, generally I thought the game was fantastic. The gameplay was a massive step up from P4 and elevates the series to heights similar to the rest of Modern Megaten, same for the difficulty (on hard), what a great challenge. Visuals were great, music was very fitting and of excellent quality, and the addition of actual dungeons is a very welcome change too.

The game had some awesome bosses too, namely palace 2 and especially 7's, which is straight up one of the coolest bosses in all of Megaten IMO. Final boss was good too but a bit too easy.

So yeah, all in all I think this is by far the best of Persona so far, I'm looking forward to what's next and hopefully it'll be even better. For now I'll try my best to stay away from NG+ for some time, but can't make any promises!

Check out beverage vending machines that sell 5 sp recovery drinks in limited supply. They're all over the game but the one that stands out is the bathhouse one because it costs just 100.

I was praying, I beat the last dungeon with 2 days left... the morning after... BOOM. I could max the last Confidant I was missing, Apparently after a certain point, you cannot hang out with your teammates until after you beat the dungeon. Pro tip for people trying max out all their confidants inefficiently.

Also the Empress' Second Awakening isn't so bad. It's kinda cool in a hippy kinda way.

Well anime cutscenes are great for marketing the game.

There are a few I liked, like the one on the train to shibuya.

Oddly for some reason all of the Persona cut scenes look pretty sub-par. Persona Trinity Soul, for its time, looked pretty good IMO.

Actually, the P3 movies look good.

I can't remember if previous personas did outsourcing to so many studios. Anyway it's not a good sign and probably explains why it feels so inconsistent across the board.

P3 movies are probably the best, but that was a very focused production with a much larger budget. They didn't have to pull stuff from everywhere.

Made it to November and Palace 6 time. Wewh. Game is interesting again. Palace 5 really brings the game down in so many ways.

Also, Akechi's outfit is awful. Just wow...

Im not sure if this is a spoiler or not, I'm at 10/28
and I have only grown to hate Akechi even more. His sense of justice seems incoherent. It appears as if all he seeks is attention from the masses and is jealous of how popular and effective the Phantom Thieves are compared to him. I really hope he doesn't end up being the main villain, that would suck.

Is level
62
considered underleveled for the (endgame spoilers)
final dive into Mementos on 12/23
? I think the Reaper exploit has completely broken the average player level stat at this point so it's hard to tell
