I have no idea why I only saw this in the japanese Nintendo Direct, but they showed Thumper with a May release date, that I suppose is worldwide :

I'm playing it on PS4 right now and I love it!

If you like rhythm games you need this. Violent rhythm games that is 😄

I bought it on Vive, played it once. But that's more related to the fact I have barely played the Vive in 2017. I'll double dip on Switch because the ultimate convenience of this system makes me use it all the time, several hours a day.

I still need to finish this game on PC. Playing it on Vive is pretty neat. Playing it on a portable seems like the perfect way to play this game.

I cannot wait for this. Ever since the Nindies and looking up what this game's about this is one of my most anticipated indie titles.

Oh man, this game has some real potential for HD Rumble to shine. I'd double dip for this game if they do something cool with that.

It's a fun game on its own but VR really enhances the experience. I would advise anyone who likes it to try it in VR if possible.

Is this the type of game that would need a downgrade to work on Switch?

My dilemma now with all these indie games is weighin portability vs better graphics/performance since I have a PS4 and a Switch.

Probably not too much, while the game does look pretty, its pretty basic at it's core. Not a lot of polygons or textures. There are a lot of effects though, so who knows.

Game is really fun in VR, feels like you're shooting through a dark twisted cosmos.

I just watched the first 15 minutes of this game. Is it just me or were those 15 minutes rather boring? Every now and then you have to jump, slide or hold and the rest of the time it was just watching the bug riding the track. Music wasn't very exciting, too. Basically only some beats. Am I missing something? Can someone explain this to me? This is no hate or the like, I just don't get all the positive reactions in here about this game although I can imagine that it is very impressive in VR at least.

As a huge Rhythm-games fan, i still have no idea if i'll like this game or not

It looks confusing and way too damn fast on video...better have a demo :/

It is fairly simple, yes. But it gets quite difficult after a while (15 minutes shows you nothing in that regard). It's very cool how the game progresses, each stage adds a slight new level of difficulty, then the final stage in a level puts everything you've learned in the earlier stages together.

Will be getting this for Switch, barring any issues. Game looks hella fun and it should be fantastic on a handheld with a large screen. Not sure I'd want to stream a rhythm game.

It's great without VR, but to have the more roller coaster/horrifying experience you absolutely need VR.

The sheer scale of the bosses being 20 feet tall in front of you, and seeing the track move beneath you so fast is amazing.

Sadly I don't have VR myself, and only get it to try it at a friend's house.

I understand why people like Thumper in VR, but personally, after trying it for a while I decided I preferred to play it sat up close to a normal TV. But then, I was rather disappointed in general with PSVR, and had motion sickness issues with it.

And as others have said, it's a phenomenal game regardless, but it's sublime in VR. I found a groove in VR that I just couldn't replicate without it.

Lumping it in with rhythm games does it a disservice, as it is really its own unique beast - a visceral, cacophonous, anxiety-inducing hellion.

When it originally launched, I made the |OT| so there's more info over there if this thread doesn't sell you. (Warning: It's entirely in caps lock and all the text is red, because I wanted to mirror the feelings of dread that Thumper evokes.)

Thumper is really good on flat screen but once you go VR, there's no going back. It's really really good in VR. I get no sickness for playing it for hours in VR and it's the perfect game for that.

With that said, i will still probably get this one for Switch as i need this bad boy on the go.

look at a later level perhaps? it is rather tame while its still teaching you the ropes.

that being said you get something from the game when playing it that you dont get when watching it. the game makes you feel like you are barely keeping up with it, the dread in the music and the extreme visuals make you feel like you are holding on for dear life. it makes you grip your controller with force and it makes your palms sweat.
